The Little Mermaid - Reliving a bit of my childhood - Review
Hello my dear cinephiles, I hope you are all very well here! This weekend we dedicated ourselves to watch Disney movies, and I took the opportunity to finally see The Little Mermaid, before I start talking about it, I must point out that I did not have much desire to see it, and that is that just seeing the trailer I felt some rejection towards it, as I know, that many had, however, I decided to give it a chance and leave a little aside the most obvious criticism that had this tape, although I must admit that I spent the whole movie criticizing the fact that this Ariel is not the same as the one I grew up with hahaha. Leaving that fact aside, I will continue with my review, based on what I saw, and of course I can't forget that it is based on the original 1989 animated movie. This live-action version, adapted and produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Lucamar Productions, Marc Platt Productions and 5000 Broadway Productions, has received countless reviews and considerable rejection, mainly because of its main character.
The plot of this film is based mainly on the life of the youngest daughter of the king of the seas, Ariel, a restless, curious young mermaid with an inexplicable love for humans and their lifestyle, to the point of saying in one of his songs that he is capable of paying anything to have a pair of legs and to be able to walk, and well basically Ariel is everything a teenager obsessed with something can be, capable of disobeying even a king, like in the old animated film , Ariel (Halle Bailey) rescues the prince from drowning, when his ship capsizes on the high seas. Leaving him by the sea near his castle, but not before singing to him and leaving him that classic tune from the little mermaid, with which he falls in love, and just like in the animated movie, the prince only sees a blurred image of the woman that saved him
As expected, and for being a remake of the original 1989 film, there are many parts of it that are, to say the least, identical to the original, unlike with Ariel, the selection of some characters was really adequate, such This is the case of King Triton (Javier Bardem), who I must say did an excellent job, as I confess that I get a couple of tears and which is also identical to the one in the animated movie; On the other hand, Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer King, has a great similarity with that prince that surely many girls I'm excited about the animated movie, and we can't ignore Úrsula (Melissa McCarthy), the truth is that I think They made a great choice with these three actors, because beyond the resemblance, their interpretation was very good.
Scenes as I already mentioned, very similar, almost identical to how they were drawn for the original movie, the music that transports us to the late 80's and early 90's, when we all wanted to be the little mermaid, is something I loved about the movie, they added some new songs, and as expected, they added scenes that we did not see in the animated film, and many others were changed. That long awaited kiss of the prince and the princess was made to wait in much of the plot, and in the meantime, we were presented with completely new scenery, which we did not get to see before, I think the protagonists managed to have good chemistry, which could be transmitted in some scenes, however, I must say that I was not entirely convinced by the interpretation of Halle Bailey, beyond how she looks physically, I failed to see that innocence that was expected to see in the little mermaid.
Let's talk about Flaunder, Sebastian and Scuttle, we couldn't have a Little Mermaid movie without these three characters, I still remember my lunchbox, pencil case and notebooks with these characters, they definitely couldn't be left out, real animals that can talk, we had them, and I tell you that I swore that Sebastian was a lobster and not a crab, I was misinformed hahaha. Scuttle, the crazy gannet, is the one who serves as a guide for Ariel in the human world, after all he is the one who explains to her what all those things she collects from those old sunken ships are for.
And don't forget the popular song Under the Sea, that explosion of colors and sea animals that we saw in the animated movie, we will also have it here, I won't say I liked it, but it wasn't so bad either. The truth is that I did not like the way they handled the special effects, because there are scenes in which the mermaids' hair floating as if they were actually in the water, it was not something that was perceived in the rest of the scene, more than in the hair, for this part I was not satisfied with the idea that they were under the sea.
Even with all the negative reviews and the many attacks on the creators of the film, for not sticking to the original idea of a little mermaid with white skin, blue eyes and red hair, I can say that they made an excellent adaptation, taking us to scenes with more context and making some favorable changes to it. Being that I was not entirely happy with some of the performances, I will give this movie an 8/10, and it is very likely that like the animated movie, I will watch it more than once, because I can't deny that I love the plot and the music of it, especially Ursula's song hahaha. If you haven't seen it, don't miss it.

La trama de esta cinta se basa principalmente en la vida de la hija menor del rey de los mares, Ariel, una joven sirena inquieta, curiosa y con un amor inexplicable por los humanos y su estilo de vida, al punto de decir en una de sus canciones que es capaz de pagar lo que sea por tener un par de piernas y poder caminar, y pues básicamente Ariel es todo lo que un adolescente obsesionado con algo puede ser, capaz de desobedecer hasta a un rey, como en la vieja cinta animada, Ariel (Halle Bailey) rescata al príncipe de ahogarse, cuando su barco naufraga en alta mar. Dejándolo a la orilla del mar cerca de su castillo, no sin antes cantarle y dejarle esa tonada clásica de la sirenita, de la cual él queda enamorado, y al igual que en la película animada, el príncipe solo ve una imagen borrosa de la mujer que lo salvo.
Como era de esperarse, y por ser un remake de la película original de 1989, hay muchas partes de la misma que son por decirlo menos, idénticas a la original, a diferencia de con Ariel, la selección de algunos personajes fue realmente adecuada, tal es el caso del Rey Tritón (Javier Bardem), que debo decir que hizo un excelente trabajo, pues confieso que me saco un par de lágrimas y que además es idéntico al de la película animada; por otro lado, el Príncipe Eric (Jonah Hauer King, tiene una gran similitud con aquel príncipe al que seguramente muchas niñas dejo ilusionada en la película animada, y no podemos dejar de lado a Úrsula (Melissa McCarthy), la verdad es que me parece que hicieron una gran eleccion con estos tres actores, pues mas allá del parecido, la interpretación de estos fue muy buena.
Escenas como ya lo mencioné, muy similares, casi que idénticas a como fueron dibujadas para la película original, la música que nos transporta a finales de los 80´s y principios de los 90´s, cuando todas queríamos ser la sirenita, es algo que amé de la película, adicionaron algunas canciones nuevas, y como era de esperarse, adicionaron escenas que no vimos en la película animada, y otras tantas las cambiaron. Ese tan esperado beso del príncipe y la princesa se hizo esperar en gran parte de la trama, y en ese ínterin, nos presentaron escenografías totalmente nuevas, que no logramos ver antes, me parece que los protagonistas lograron tener buena química, que se pudo transmitir en algunas escenas, sin embargo, debo decir que no me convenció del todo la interpretación de Halle Bailey, más allá de cómo se vea físicamente, no logre ver aquella inocencia que se esperaba ver en la sirenita.
Hablemos de Flaunder, Sebastián y Scuttle, no podíamos tener una película de la sirenita sin estos tres personajes, aún recuerdo mi lonchera, cartuchera y cuadernos con estos personajes, definitivamente no se podían dejar por fuera, animales reales que pueden hablar, los tuvimos, y les cuento que yo juraba que Sebastián era una langosta y no un cangrejo, estaba mal informada jajaja. Scuttle, el alcatraz loco, es quien funge como guía para Ariel en el mundo humano, después de todo él es quien le explica para que sirven todas esas cosas que ella colecciona de esos viejos navíos hundidos.
Y no se olviden de la popular canción Bajo el Mar, aquella explosión de colores y animales marinos que vimos en la película animada, también la tendremos aquí, no diré que me gusto, pero tampoco estuvo tan mal. La verdad es que no me gusto la manera en la que manejaron los efectos especiales, pues hay escenas en las que si bien se observa el cabello de las sirenas flotando como si en realidad estuvieran en el aguan, no era algo que se percibiera en todo el resto de la escena, más que en el cabello, por esta parte no me sentí conforme con la idea de que estaban bajo el mar.
Aun con todas las críticas negativas y la gran cantidad de ataques a los creadores de la cinta, por no apegarse a la idea original de una sirenita con tez blanca, ojos azules y pelirroja, puedo decir que hicieron una excelente adaptación, llevándonos a escenas con más contexto y haciendo algunos cambios favorables a la misma. Siendo que no quede del todo conforme con algunas actuaciones, yo le daré a esta película un 8/10, y es muy probable que al igual que la película animada, la vea más de una vez, pues no puedo negar que me encanta la trama y la música de la misma, sobre todo la canción de Úrsula jajaja. Si no la has visto, no dejes de hacerlo.

Thanks for sharing these beautiful content with us here, I guess we should not obsessed with everything too much and the movie let us understand how obidence is important the little mermaid disobey the king and get price paid for it. The movie is interesting and very motivative in aspect of believing in yourself.
Aún no he visto este film, pero mucos concuerdan contigo con el tema de Halle Bailey. Es por la calidez o lo emocional.
Tendría que verla para comparar... Lo del tema del príncipe me parece bien que no lo trastocaran. En otra reseña leí que esta sirenita cantaba muy bien. :p
Muchos amaron el trabajo de Halle pero no termino de convencerme, probablemente porque ya estaba predispuesta, por la propaganda negativa. Halle es cantante mas que actriz, y eso definitivamente lo hace notar muy bien en la película.

Quizás hoy la vea finalmente, desde un principio siempre me gustó Halle como Ariel, nunca tuve ese problema, y ya sé todo lo que pasa y todo los cambios que hicieron, así que con más razón aún la voy a disfrutar, amo los spoilers, y sé que esta adaptación es mejor de lo que hubiera podido llegar a ser, la gente se queja por no dejar, así que se jodan. jajajajajaj
Jajajaja si no nos quejáramos que sería de nuestras vidas, una muy larga y aburrida seguramente, sé que te encantara la película, apartando las criticas, yo sí la vería muchas veces jajaaja

Yo fui fans número 1 de la sirenita cuando era niña jaja, tengo una foto con mi piñata de Ariel y llore cuando la tuvieron que romper, aún recuerdo eso, tenía 7 años jaja. Al principio sí estaba dudosa del live action, pero no por el color de la actriz, sino porque mi deseo infantil era que fuese muy parecida a la comiquita que vi de niña y emocionarme por eso y más aún compartirlo con mi hija. La vimos en el cine, yo parecía la niña jaja la verdad la amé, es cierto, está muy bien adaptada a la original, mi niña interior salió satisfecha y realizada del cine, me encanto Halle y su voz es inigualable. La vería muchas veces, me gusto tu reseña amiga, saludos.
Halle es cantante, eso no podemos negarlo, yo igual me la disfrute, aunque no podía dejar de decir en toda la película, que quería la sirenita como la original, lo han hecho con todas las adaptaciones live action, porque no con la sirenita 😂, yo también era fans de ella cuando estaba en el colegio, aun por allí tengo cuadernos de esa época.
Una actriz igual a la Ariel de los 80 hubiese sido la emoción más grande del mundo para los adultos que fueron niños en aquella generación, es cierto, jaja. Pero bueno lo compensaron con otras cosas, sigo sintiendo que están haciendo las cosas muy forzosas con la inclusión de otros tonos de piel, está genial que eliminemos el racismo pero es un Live action por deos, déjalo ser jajaja.
Jajaja lo mismo pienso yo, y es que bien lo dicen los viejitos, obligado no gusta nada! jajaja y es algo que quieren hacerlo porque si, y esa fue una de las cosas por las que en este caso puntual, no tuvieron el éxito que probablemente fueran tenido si nos colocaban una sirenita como la original.
No he visto la película, estoy ansiosa por verla por todos los comentarios y criticas. Tratare de disfruta de ella el fin de semna si tengo chance.
