My #Movies&Tvshow friends, grab your popcorn, turn off your mobile phones and I invite you to run NOW to look for this 100% Venezuelan film that expresses much of the social decomposition we have in our country, linked with huomr, drama, revenge, anger and of course love.
But what am I doing recommending this? Well, Venezuelan cinema has always shown corruption, hatred, social inequalities, a very low language typical of the barrios and many situations that say "this is what the country is like" and although it costs me a lot to admit it, this film that was broadcast in 2010, speaks of everything and more within a context that for us is a reality that we would not want to ever exist but that we can not obviate. I present to you the Zero hour.

Mis amigos de #Movie&Tvshow tomen sus palomitas, apaguen los celulares y les invito a que corran YA a buscar esta película 100% venezolana que expresa mucho de la descomposición social que tenemos en nuestro país, ligado con humor, drama, venganza, ira y por supuesto amor. ¿Pero que hago recomendando esto? Bueno, el cine venezolano siempre ha mostrado la corrupcción, el odio, las desigualdades sociales, un lenguaje muy bajo propio de los barrios y muchas situaciones que dicen "así es el país" y aunque me cueste mucho admitirlo, esta película que se transimitió en el año 2010 habla de todo y más, dentro de un contexto que para nosotros es una realidad que no quisieramos que jamás existiera pero que no podemos obviar. Les presento: La hora cero.

Venezuelan films are fantastic, they have a touch of everything a little bit; on the one hand the hard working people, who get up every day to work for this country, for their family, for their betterment (in Creole we would say, echarle pichon), and that in spite of the salaries that I see all my life have been limited because we have an expensive lifestyle, they do the right thing for themselves and their future.
But there are two realities that nobody talks about and we feel them all the time, and they are the social classes. In this country there is such a polarity as for example people eating out of the rubbish but at the same time people paying a $400 ticket to see an artist, total madness! And this is just a foretaste of what this debut film by Venezuelan director Diego Velasco expresses in ZERO HOUR, which existed in 1996 (when the film was set), which was lived in 2010 (when it was released) and today 2023, I saw it and I was shocked to know that almost 30 years later we are still succumbing to the same human misery.
The reaper is the typical "malandro" (delinquent, choro, pran, bandit, criminal, thug) who controls an area of Caracas, where everyone knows who he is (even the police) who has "carte blanche" to commit crimes without paying for his misdeeds.
Drugs, death, hired killings, robbery, kidnapping, revenge, hatred, corruption, more deaths, involvement of authorities, yellow media, protests, death of innocents, threats, are many of the situations we see in this film that keep our souls on tenterhooks.
What should we not be shown or labelled as such? Well, as I said before, they are truths that are silenced but that are there in the street and that we don't know when they can touch us because as day to day citizens, we know when we go out but not when we return home.
Lo que me gustó Miren las películas venezolanas son fantásticas, tienen un toque de todo un poco; por un lado la gente trabajadora, que se levanta todos los días a trabajar por este país, por su familia, por su superación (en criollo diríamos, echarle pichon), y que muy a pesar de los salarios que toda la vida veo que han sido limitados porque tenemos un estilo de vida costoso, hacen lo correcto por ellos y su futuro. Pero hay dos realidades de las que nadie habla y las palpamos a cada momento y son las clases sociales. En este país se vive una polaridad tan grande como por ejemplo gente comiendo de la basura pero a su vez gente pagando una entrada de $400 para ver un artista ¡La locura total! Y esto es solo un abreboca de lo que expresa esta ópera prima del venezolano Diego Velasco en LA HORA CERO, que existió en 1996 (cuando se ambiento la película), que se vivía en el 2010 (cuando se estrenó) y que hoy 2023, la ví y quedé impactada al saber que casi 30 años después seguimos sucumbidos en la misma miseria humana.
La parca es el típico malandro (delicuente, choro, pran, bandido, criminal, maleante) que controla una zona de Caracas, donde todo el mundo sabe quien es (hasta la polícia) que tiene "carta blanca" para delinquir sin pagar por sus fechorías. Droga, muerte, sicariato, robo, secuestro, venganza, odio, corrupcción, más muertes, implicación de autoridades, medios amarillistas, protestas, muerte de inocentes, amenazas, son muchas de las situaciones que vemos en esta película que nos mantienen con el alma en vilo. ¿Qué no deberían mostrar o etiquetar que somos así? Pues, como dije anteriormente, son verdades que se callan pero que estan allí en la calle y que no sabemos cuando nos puede tocar porque como ciudadanos del día a día, sabemos cuando salimos pero no cuando retornamos a casa.
I liked all the issues that were touched upon and that I mentioned earlier. The plot takes on a very dark tone because it narrates the way a delinquent becomes a delinquent, the way the girls look to get out of the neighbourhood the easy way, the infidelities, the corrupt acts of the powerful and something that surprised me is that the policemen were the good guys! Look at this, it helps us understand the film the last 10 minutes to finish, really 20 points for this well detailed sequence.
I loved seeing Zapata 666, a role that suited him very well because he is a person who comes from that neighbourhood and was able to transfer much of his learning in that dark world to the screen. I should also point out that at that time, we had a very rich cinema, so it's wonderful to see artists like Marissa Román, Albi de Abreu, Amanda Key, Rolando Padilla, who I remembered in a different way, and well, they play very elaborate roles that make their performances feel like their own, they really come through.
The scenery, the satires, the motorbikes, the hospitals, all linked to reality, as it was a film that was the product of a Venezuelan reality such as the strikes and the emergency salaries of the doctors, as well as the two Venezuelan realities where one suffers and the other is not happening at all, are excellent subjects to study and give a touch of depth to the plot.
Finally I would like to say that the soundtrack, although it is very little appreciated because they are more focused on the shooting, vulgar vocabulary and emergency room, the two songs that sound are to be enjoyed. I particularly can't get them out of my head, I loved them.
With so much excellence, I can only give it 10/10 and then some.

Me gustó todos los temas que tocaron y que mencioné anteriormente. La trama toma un matiz muy oscuro porque narra la forma como se hace un delincuente, la manera como las niñas buscan salir del barrio del modo fácil, las infidelidades, los actos de corrupcción de los poderosos y algo que me sorprendió es que ¡Los policías eran los buenos! Miren esto nos ayuda a entender la película los últimos 10 minutos para finalizar, de verdad que 20 puntos por esta secuencia tan bien detallada. Me encantó ver a Zapata 666, un papel que le quedó muy bien porque es una persona que viene de ese barrio y pudo traspasar mucho de su aprendizaje en ese mundo oscuro, a la pantalla. También, debo resaltar que en ese momento, estabamos con un cine muy nutrido, así que es maravilloso ver artistas como Marissa Román, Albi de Abreu, Amanda Key, Rolando Padilla, que los recordaba de otra forma y bueno, hacen papeles muy elaborados que hacen sentir sus actuaciones como propias, de verdad que llegan.
Los escenarios, las sátiras, las motos, hospitales, todo ligado con la realidad, ya que fue una película producto de una realidad venezolana como son las huelgas y los salarios de emergencia que tienen los médicos, así como las dos realidades venezolanas donde una sufre y en la otra no esta pasando nada, son temas excelentes de estudio y que le dan el toque de profundidad a la trama. Por último quiero decir que la banda músical, aunque se aprecia muy poco porque estan mas enfocada en los disparos, vocabulario vulgar y sala de emergencia, las dos canciones que suenan son de disfrutar. Yo particularmente no las saco de mi cabeza, me encantaron. Con tanta excelencia, solo puedo darle 10/10 y un poco más.

Look, unfortunately I don't understand why we are like this here but "that's the way it is". The action, the persecution, how things develop and everything that happens is fine but I still don't understand how we normalise what is wrong.
It's good that we have shortcomings and therefore we want to improve ourselves, but doing the wrong thing? I don't think that's the best way to do it. We are used to the fact that our leaders do not earn merit for their studies or actions but "because we identify with their charisma" and as a consequence we have ANIMALS governing our countries or if they say three rude things on national TV, those are the ones we applaud.
The Grim Reaper is not a hero, he is a delinquent, a hitman, a criminal, that a "job" went wrong and for that reason he must take fatal decisions in the company of his "friends" without caring who he gets in the way.
This is wrong, very wrong and I think the director expressed very well that as long as we have these passions for the wrong in our lives, we will have the same underdeveloped countries without a glimpse of development. Let's stop romanticising the criminal and work towards a just society and values.
It is a strong film, so beware that children are around to see it, I recommend caution.
Lo que no me gustó Miren, lamentablemente no entiendo porque aquí somos así pero "es lo que hay", Esta bien la acción, la persecución, como se van desarrollando las cosas y todo lo que ocurre pero aun sigo sin entender como normalizamos lo que esta mal. Esta bien que tengamos carencias y por ende queramos superarnos pero ¿Haciendo lo malo? No creo que sea la mejor vía. Estamos acostumbrados que nuestros líderes no se ganan el mérito por estudios o acciones sino "porque nos identificamos con su cárisma" y como consecuencia tenemos ANIMALES gobernando nuestros países o si dicen tres groserías en tv nacional, esos son los que aplaudimos.
La Parca no es un heróe, es un delincuente, sicario, criminal, que un "encargo" le salió mal y por ello debe tomar decisiones fatales en compañia de sus "amiguitos" sin importar a quien se lleva por el medio. Eso esta mal, muy mal y creo que el director expresó muy bien que mientras tengamos esas pasiones por lo incorrecto en nuestras vidas, tendremos los mismos países subdesarrollados y sin mirar una luz al desarrollo. Dejemos de romantizar el criminal y trabajemos en una sociedad justa y de valores. Es una película fuerte, así que cuidado que los niños estan por allí para verla, le recomiendo prudencia.
