Edging Migraine, Temps, Movie Day, Fire, Bulleit, Hockey, Grilling - Saturday

Yesterday morning, like this morning, I woke to an edging migraine. I can feel the tension on the right side of my head radiating along my temple and to the back of my right eye and down my neck. It is the top vertebra and nerves that are still the problem and apparently I am going to have to keep on the muscle relaxers to help loosen the tight muscles and want to pinch nerves.

I went out to let the birds out and stopped by the greenhouse on the way back to the house. It was super nice to see that the temp never got below 40F overnight while it was down to 25F ambient.

Super impressed with the S9 heat output that's for sure.

I was watching the weather in the morning in hopes my head would allow me to go paragliding but all morning there was ZERO wind at Inklers which is down the valley from Parker's. The wind gauge showed a max of 5mph which would have been no way of getting a good flight in. The south ended up being the place to fly as a number of the club went there and got some flights in.

So being stuck at home I put on movies during the day. The first was Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure which I was J's age when it came out and remember seeing it on HBO once it came out on video. The boys were kinda interested in it.

The next movie was Big Trouble in Little China which is another movie I remember well from childhood. That time frame had a lot of movies with VERY similar special effects, it was the dawn of cgi but most all these movies used real animatronics and physical effects.

R spent nearly two hours in the afternoon working on his project for school, a report about Iguanas. He did a bunch of research online and got most of his report done. J started to help build a diorama with him that they will keep working on today likely.

At 4pm the Kraken game came on and I had that on while I got the fire going in the pit for grilling.

I figured I'd pull out a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon to mix with my Bubly. Normally I've been using vodka but for more special occasion I like my bourbon.

The Kraken got spanked 3-2 but this was their first game in nearly 2 weeks.

I grilled our burgers again and also added ham then a slice of pineapple. Made such a delicious burger.

The Chiefs were playing Everett who demolished them again and I gave up on the game the start of the third period and went out to soak. It's getting rather annoying having my neck start to tighten up while soaking, it's supposed to be the opposite.

Today will be some snow and then rain this afternoon. Man Utd play this morning then after the match we will go out to eat for my bday breakfast meal. I've got to try and alleviate the pressure on my neck somehow, some footyball game is on this afternoon, I'll get a good fire going in the pit again and will likely grill a steak for dinner.

Big Trouble in Little China

That movie gave me nightmares as a child! This image is permently in my psyche.

Lol! I have the image burned into my memory as well, just like Weird Science's scene and Total Recall. All were similar effects.

I'm not much of a whiskey or bourbon drinker. How would you compare Bulleit to big brands like Jack Daniels or Jim Beam? What about northwest distributors like Pendleton?

I have a shelf full of bourbons and they are all a bit different and unique. The Bulleit brand is generally quite good across the offerings and has a mellow taste without a sharp bite. I find with most liquor, and bourbon especially, the price to taste/quality is generally pretty well established. Top shelf generally has a top shelf quality to it. In the end it takes tasting the various brands to find the one(s) you like the best, but with smaller brands sometimes there is a strong variation between batches where the larger distillers have a consistent product.
