Better late than sorry as they say don't you agree? I was searching for a new movie or series to watch during this weekend and i stumbled upon the Terrifier franchise. Now i am not into that kind of genre, to be honest but as my search had no effect i decided to give it a go. Short story short i watched all 3 of them and i plan to make 3 review posts as well!

First of all let me tell you that there are 3 more that are older all the way back to 2008. But i guess since the movie of 2016 its popularity went up! Behind the wheels of the movie as a director and writer is Damien Leone and the new face behind Art the Clown is David Howard Thornton who does an amazing job by the way.

Plot

The plot is pretty straightforward, to be honest and everything is taking place in an old abandoned building and a small shop. So the time of the year is Halloween and there is a maniac out there named Art the Clown who is basically a serial killer. We were also introduced since the beginning of the movie to our main vict... em i mean protagonists, Tara and Victoria. So basically we see how they try to survive Art the Clown and how he will kill everyone who stands in his way.

What I Liked and what i Didn't

To tell you the truth this is a cult movie. I wasn't expecting much, i didn't get much, but the time passed by in a funny way. When i say funny is because that's how you need to see the film. It's not scary at all, so if you expect to see a horror or something that will spook you, then it would be 0-1/10. If you have the mindest that i had you will have a good time.

The acting was quite good for their budget and the same applies to the special effects. Now at this point note that everything seems fake but we are talking about a budget of 35000$ in total. For that kind of budget, they did a pretty damn awesome work! I have watched movies with 10-20 times that budget that i stopped watching after 10 minutes.

Something that made this film so successful in my mind, and to understand why i say successful, they earned 421000$ gross worldwide is the fun element. You see in most films like this the villain is a guy or being that is pure evil and too serious all the time. While Art the Clown is pure evil he constantly makes fun of the victims, acts like a clown :P and trolls everyone! I think that is something "kinda unique" in this genre that made the difference.

What are your thoughts about the first movie?

And we have funny horror movies. Gives the vibe of “Ready or Not”. I have seen low budget movies that did better than most with millions in the bank.
