Dune: Prophecy 2024 Series Review
After watching the first 2 Dune movies i learned that there is a series going on, it's like a prequel in a sense but not exactly at the same time. The certain thing is that we get to learn more info about the said Universe and possibly get more hooked to it. The series has 6 episodes and most likely there will be a second season as well.
Plot
So the story sets around 10000 years before the movies and is focused on the events after an all-out war against AI machines took place. Supposedly, in that war, the Atreides played a pivotal role while the Harkonnens were deemed as cowards (which wasn't the actual case as they did their part as well.).
Due to that the Harkonnens were exiled to a planet full of ice, they are now poor and make their money from whale fur or something. In let's say the family of Harkonnen's Leader, there are 3 children, 2 girls and a boy. One of the girls named Valya is quite ambitious and seeks revenge on Atreides.
She basically, makes her brother and sister trust her and follow the same logic and apparently due to that her Brother dies. We also learn that previously her brother fell into ice-cold waters and was about to drown and die but Valya without realising used the "Voice" that made him swim and come up to the surface.
So both sisters arrive on the planet where the Bene Gesserit are, known as truthsayers, essentially human lie-detectors. Now imagine that this is the second wave of Bene Gesserit, only one Mother superior exists that also likes Valya as they share the same mindset which is to use a breeding program to make the perfect leaders.
Fast forward a couple years later and Valya is the next Mother Superior that leads the Bene Gesserit. She has managed to gain influence and grow their ranks. At the same time though one of the well-known soldiers of the Empire called Desmond Hart gets back from Arrakis after he was considered dead. He plans to make the Emperor realise that the Bene Gesserit as manipulating them and he is sworn to eradicate them for reasons that we get to learn later on.
What i Liked and What I Didn't
The Aesthetics and sceneries are amazing and possibly that's why the first seasons consists of only 6 episodes. It's like you are watching a movie in terms of effects. The acting of mostly everyone is spot on and i really like Emily Watchon (Valya Harkonnen). We also get to see the feud between Harkonnes and Atreides and realize why there is so much hate. I also like Travis Fimmel, in most roles it feels like he is playing Ragnar again, but still i really like him in most movies.
Now, i really like that we get to learn more about the grant plans, more info about the whole universe and stuff but at some moments it felt pretty dull and boring. I don't know why to be honest, the only explanation that i can currently provide is that it's full of charismatic actors and people that need more time to show their talent.
Due to the number of episodes (6) we can't actually see the full scope of these characters and some things feel rushed in order to explain their motives and such. Hopefully, with the second season more character development will take place and i really hope for that. If they add for example another 5-10 good actors in the second season, i believe the result will be worse though.
Overall, it's not an amazing series but it's above mediocre at least. I would say a total fo 7/10 for me. if they do it right i believe the next season could be a 7.5-8/10! Let me know if you watched the series and what you think about it!

I stopped watching halfway through. A very good concept was ruined by total boredom. And Travis Fimmel, who once again plays the same person.
Nice review!
Keeping this in mind in case I will watch the series

I have watched the part 1. I have read somewhere about the review that it could be better and now you are telling the same. So I'm not sure if I could start watching this, maybe later sometime!
