Dune: Part Two 2024 Movie Review

image.png

After my last review of Dune: Part One here comes the second one. As i mentioned in my previous post i basically watched in 2-3 days, both of the movies and the new series as well and ofc i will review the hell out of them. I will try not to do many spoilers but keep in mind that if you haven't watched the first movie then skip this review.

Plot

The second season starts with Paul and the Fremen (in case you didn't get it, fremen=free men, mindblowing :P ) fighting Harkonnens. Our boy Paul a bit later on drinks the "elixir" after his mother basically "forcing him". Even though the chances for a man to survive this are 0%, Paul manages to survive showing that he is the one, the Messiah and such.

Ofc everyone is going crazy seeing this and her faith in him grows especially after Paul shows his Future-Past powers. He can basically see the past and the future in the form of different strings and paths which can basically make him invisible. He then leads a full-on attack against the Harkonnens who have arrived at Arrakis with their full power and ofc the Emperor is here as well.

I won't tell you now what exactly happens then, pretty much i told you most of the things that are happening, taking out some details and ofc the ending. Note that this is the end as there will be another movie coming out there and i bet more series as well.

What I Liked and What I Didn't

Now in terms of action, the second film is by far better. We get to see everything, from small-scale fights to 1vs1 to full-scale ones. The choreographies are better as well. There is more screen time with the worms as well which play a vital role in the whole universe.

The sceneries are simply amazing and for the most part, the acting is great. Timothee is way way better than in the first movie and i didn't believe he had it on him. In general everyone's performance is great except Zendaya's. I will say it again that she is at best a mediocre actor, with no emotion and she seems the same in every role and every movie. Austin Butler, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson and everyone else are simply amazing.

Finally, because i did some research on my own, the movies are way different than the books. So if you are a true fan of the books you will see something different, a lot different than what you read so keep that in mind. Overall and even though i don't like Sci-Fi movies i would give it an 8/10 and if Zendaya wasn't part of it could go up to 8.5.

Although I enjoyed this review, but, this isn't my kind of film. I'd get so bored watching it. However, my brother would love it.

I didn't really like the first Dune movie even though Villeneuve really did a good job at the visuals and sitting in the theater at the end I remember thinking 'I will skip on the 2nd movie' which I ended up doing even though I see everywhere that it's better. At the same time seeing you give the first one a 6.5 and the 2nd an 8 I am kind of getting tempted.
