Starring Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas, ‘Ballerina’ is the next film in the John Wick universe directed by Len Wiseman.
Set between the events of ‘John Wick 3’ and the upcoming ‘John Wick 4’, it is the first spin-off in the saga.
The film follows dancer assassin Rooney, played by De Armas, seeking revenge for the death of her family.
Ballerina was officially announced in April 2022 and it was confirmed that de Armas would replace Unity Phelan, who played the character in Parabellum, in the lead role.
The script is based on a story by Shay Hatten developed by himself and Emerald Fennell.
With a cast that also includes Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne and Lance Reddick, filming began in Prague in late 2022 with Lionsgate, the studio responsible for John Wick.
Directed by Wiseman, ‘Ballerina’ promises more action and suspense in the murderous universe created by Stahelski, who is also involved as a producer.
It is scheduled for release on 7 June 2025.
