Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy

Lego star wars rebuild the galaxy is actually incredible. Actually tells a meaningful somewhat original story while staying true to the roots of star wars. The deserved acclaim of Rebuild the Galaxy leaves me surprised that Disney+'s Star Wars hub doesn't have a Lego row. A page for all of the streamer's Lego content also sounds nice, but even less likely. It also seems to be getting pretty solid reviews all around! I liked everything about it except the hints of Sig/Yessi romance, which felt awkwardly pasted on. All the actual relationship development screen time gets devoted to Sig and Dev's sibling relationship, which is great, but then just...maybe don't bother with a romance subplot, writers. They can just be friends. It's fine. There really weren't any vibes on Yessi's end that insinuated anything in that direction until that very end scene. And the only stuff we got about Sig liking her was him liking the version of her from his universe back in the very beginning. Once the new galaxy came to be, the plot was moving at a breakneck speed at that point, to where there really wasn't any time for that kind of development to happen organically, and they didn't even attempt at it
They went the direction of creating a new storyline and focusing on that while using the familiar cast of characters as supporting actors instead. Before watching I was expecting Darth Jar Jar to be the big bad, but after watching I am glad that he wasn't because I think the story benefited from having someone intricately connected to Sig be the main foe--someone also new to us as viewers.
It was fun, and the story itself was as strong as it needed to be for a Lego special. For what it's meant to be, I think this special succeeded in all avenues. The Sig & Dev sibling relationship at the heart of the story was very well done, and the bit toward the end where Dev tries to tempt Sig by helping him rebuild their planet gave me chills.
