Impressive! Knives Out (2019) || Movie Review.
Mystery movies are one of my favorites. I say I love watching mystery movies, but this is the first time I actually enjoyed a mystery movie. My experience with this movie was impressive. I went to watch this movie with low expectations. I didn't expect it to impress me that much and I wanted to watch it because a lot of people have recommended it to me. I have been reluctant to watch this movie for a long time, but today I decided to watch it.
At first when I was watching the movie, I was bored and slept off but after I woke up, I started it all over again. I guess sleep and exhaustion made my first trial boring. So let's talk about "Knives Out". This movie is murder mystery that is written and directed by Rian Johnson who is also part of the producing crew. It was distributed by Lions gate and it starred Daniel Craig as detective Blanc, with Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Christopher Plummer, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Toni Collette.
Plot Summary Without Spoilers.
The story of this movie revolves around detective Blanc investigating the death of a patriarch of an eccentric and dysfunctional family. The movie starts with Harlan Thrombey, a rich mystery novelist attending his 85th birthday party that was organized by his children in his estate. The next day, his housekeeper finds him dead with his throat slit in his study. Immediately the police got involved and after a thorough examination by their forensic team they believe the cause of death was sucide.
Things get interesting when detective Blanc is anonymously hired to investigate the death of Harlan Thrombey. As Blanc started his investigation by questioning all Harlan Thrombey's family one by one, he discovered that Harlan's relationship with his children was not strong and not on good terms before he died. Blanc also discovered that Harlan had made some necessary and rash decisions before he died which would have been a good motive for the murder. Detective Blanc believes that Harlan Thrombey was murder and didn't commit sucide.
As his investigations progressed, Blanc has a gut feeling that Harlan's nurse, Marta Cabrera, is hiding something from him and he intends to get to the bottom of the truth. Will detective Blanc solve this mystery? Who is responsible for the death of Harlan Thrombey?
My Review And Rating.
This movie kept me on the edge of my seat all through. A well crafted whodunit in a modern setting. I commend Rian Johnson for his work. He did a fantastic job with the twist, suspense and mystery. It was amazing. The movie is unpredictable in any way. You might think you know who the murderer is, but then the story of the movie directs you to another suspect.
Let's talk about the screenplay. This movie is precisely and thoroughly crafted. Rian Johnson expertly spins a web of deception which kept me wondering who the antagonist was until the end. The plot was full of unexpected twists, a lot of misdirection, and a satisfying end that ties up every loose end. I was entertained from the beginning to the end. The little humor included in the screenplay made me laugh. It was perfect, no dry humor or comedy.
Also, tension is kept throughout the movie as I try to predict and figure out where the mystery was heading to. In the end, there were twists that didn't do much to break my tension until the last minute of the movie. This tension made my experience with this movie superb!
The Cast of this movie was perfect! I know nothing on earth is perfect but for this movie it was for me. Daniel Craig's performance throughout the movie was amazing and hilarious. I enjoyed his performance, he stole the spotlight well and he handled his role beautifully. His charm and wit character did it for me. Let's not forget his southern accent Hahah.
Ana de Armas shines as Marta Cabrera, the sweet-natured nurse with an unusual capacity to speak the truth. Her performance was amazing. Chris Evan made a smart, fantastic and silly antagonist. The supporting characters were also good, making the cast of this movie exceptional.
This movie explores strong themes of how privilege and entitlement can lead to greed, and deception. It also explores family dynamics, betrayal, and truth. It also takes a satirical look at modern society by delving into issues such as income disparity and the goal of achievement at any cost.
What I also enjoyed about this movie is the cinematography, the visual and the location. The grandeur, lavish interiors and intricate set design really set the mood for this movie. The scene arrangements were done well and I will say, it has a beautiful visual. For me there is nothing to dislike in this movie. It was interesting, and refreshing to watch.
Rating this movie, I will give 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is a good movie for mystery lovers. If you haven't seen this movie, you should go see it as soon as possible. You will be entertained that I can promise.

Me alegra oírlo.
I liked this one, I enjoyed it a lot when I saw it. Good film, entertaining, funny, great cast, good performances, Craig, Ana de Armas, omg! a great show.
I enjoyed the second movie but it no longer has the freshness of the first one, I still prefer this movie. The sequel is bigger, more spectacle, but it doesn't have Ana de Armas hahaha.
Craig's and Ana de Armas' performance was just thr best. I enjoyed watching both of them! I am going to watch the second by weekend hehehe let's see the one I prefer more. Thank you for the visit and support. I appreciate it. 😊
Hi, this film took me by surprise, I started watching it because of the cast and ended up enjoying it a lot. It's wonderful, I'm glad you managed to watch it all the way through and above all that you enjoyed it. When you get a chance, have a look at the second film, it's not as good as this one, however, it's also very enjoyable.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Yes,the movie impressed me alot. I didn't expect to enjoy this much. For second sequel. I will make sure to watch soon. Let's see how the second sequel goes hehe. I appreciate your comment and visit. Thank you 🥰
This is an excellent film, the whole story, the whole social class thing, lots of villains, a killer and a person who by doing the right thing is rewarded, these are things I liked about Knives Out.
The second film Glass Onion is good, I liked it too, different themes, but I think also very current, I don't know if you have already seen it and if not, then I recommend it.
Ah, Glass Onion, I am seeing it soon. Hehe.. I have read alot of good reviews about it, including yours. I will watching soon. Knives Out is a movie I will be rewatching occasionally. Thank you for the recommendation. I appreciate your visit. 😊
