🎬 Movie Review: Weathering With You [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! No sé si recordarán, pero hace algún tiempo les compartí reseñas de las producciones de Makoto Shinkai que iba viendo, todavía me faltan algunas por ver que las fui posponiendo. El fin de semana pasado me decidí a continuar con esto, así que vi El tiempo contigo y acá les comparto mi reseña.

Hello friends! I don't know if you remember, but some time ago I shared with you reviews of Makoto Shinkai's productions that I was watching, I still have some more to see and I kept postponing them. Last weekend I decided to continue with this, so I watched Weathering With You and here I share with you my review.

Trama - Plot

Esta película de animación nos cuenta la historia de un joven de 16 años llamado Hodaka que escapa de su hogar en un pueblo de una isla y se embarca hacia Tokio para empezar una nueva vida. Allí tiene problemas para conseguir trabajo por ser menor de edad, pero encuentra una mano en un señor que lo ayudó en el barco y le dejó su tarjeta de contacto. A pesar de los inconvenientes que pasa, se siente bien en Tokio, aunque esta ciudad está atravesando por un periodo de lluvias nunca antes visto. En medio de todo esto conoce a Hina, una joven que también le tendió una mano cuando lo necesitaba y Hodaka la rescató de unos hombres que la molestaban. Además, le dio un propósito en la vida, ya que Hina no es cualquier chica, es una hija del sol, tiene el don de despejar el clima y traer el sol de nuevo rezándole al cielo. Sin embargo, cada rayo de luz que asoma se lleva una parte de ella y puede que al final no quede nada.

This animated film tells the story of a 16-year-old boy named Hodaka who runs away from his home in an island village and sets sail for Tokyo to start a new life. There he has trouble getting a job because he is underage, but he finds a helping hand in a man who helped him on the boat and left him his contact card. Despite the inconveniences he goes through, he feels good in Tokyo, although this city is going through a period of rains never seen before. In the midst of all this, she meets Hina, a young woman who also lent her a hand when she needed it and Hodaka rescued her from some men who were bothering her. He also gave her a purpose in life, as Hina is not just any girl, she is a daughter of the sun, she has the gift of clearing the weather and bringing the sun back by praying to the sky. However, every ray of light that peeks through takes a part of her and there may be nothing left in the end.

Las producciones de Makoto Shinkai tienen cierta magia que a mí me fascina, esta película no es la excepción. Acá lo que separa a los protagonistas es el tiempo, como bien se hace notar, pero me pasó algo raro en esta ocasión. Me gustó mucho, eso no lo voy a negar, sin embargo, siento que tiene un tinte mucho más oscuro que las anteriores películas que vi y fue un poco chocante en cierto punto porque los protagonistas no dejan de ser niños o, bueno, adolescentes y no se explicaron algunos sucesos tampoco. No entraré en detalles para no hacer spoilers, pero sentí que algunas situaciones no tenían mucho que ver con la trama y quedaban un poco colgadas.

Makoto Shinkai's productions have a certain magic that fascinates me, and this film is no exception. Here what separates the protagonists is time, as it is well noted, but something strange happened to me on this occasion. I liked it a lot, I won't deny that, however, I feel that it has a much darker tone than the previous movies I saw and it was a bit shocking at a certain point because the main characters are still children or, well, teenagers and some events were not explained either. I won't go into details so as not to make spoilers, but I felt that some situations didn't have much to do with the plot and were left hanging a bit.

Pero, a pesar de todo esto, me pareció una producción increíble. La animación siempre es muy hermosa de ver y el sentir de los personajes, cómo se van entrelazando sus historias o surge el amor, es algo que me atrapa. Los diálogos también son mágicos de escuchar y leer, hay ciertas frases que me quedan resonando después de un tiempo a modo de reflexión. El soundtrack también me gustó mucho, ustedes saben que una buena banda sonora la agradezco siempre.

But, in spite of all this, I thought it was an incredible production. The animation is always beautiful to watch and the feeling of the characters, how their stories intertwine or how love emerges, is something that catches me. The dialogues are also magical to listen to and read, there are certain phrases that resonate with me after a while as a reflection. I also liked the soundtrack a lot, you know that I always appreciate a good soundtrack.

Los personajes fueron entrañables y queribles, cada uno con sus realidades y problemas, me encantó el hermano pequeño de Hina y la sobrina de Kei que estaba siempre dispuesta a ayudar a todos. También me gustó mucho el cameo que hicieron con los personajes de Your Name, una de sus películas más conocidas. El multiverso Shinkai es fantástico. Creo que solo me falta ver la de Suzume y otras producciones más viejas que espero hacerlo pronto.

The characters were endearing and lovable, each with their realities and problems, I loved Hina's little brother and Kei's niece who was always willing to help everyone. I also really liked the cameo they did with the characters from Your Name, one of his best known movies. The Shinkai multiverse is fantastic. I think I just need to see Suzume's and other older productions which I hope to do soon.

Si bien me gustó esta película, no la considero la mejor de todas las que vi. Mi favorita sigue siendo Your Name y le sigue 5 centímetros por segundo. De todos modos, es algo diferente que ver si les gustan este estilo de animación. Lo que destacó acá es el final, fue el primero que vi que terminó con los protagonistas juntos de nuevo. Después de todo el tiempo, la distancia y las complicaciones que atravesaron se los agradezco porque es lo que me gusta que muestren, que el amor triunfe aunque sea en la ficción.

While I liked this film, I don't consider it the best of all the films I've seen. My favorite is still Your Name, followed by 5 centimeters per second. Anyway, it's something different to see if you like this style of animation. What stood out here is the ending, it was the first one I saw that ended with the main characters together again. After all the time, distance and complications they went through I thank them because that's what I like them to show, that love triumphs even if it's in fiction.
