🎬 Movie Review: Svanitti nella notte [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! El finde pasado vi uno de los últimos estrenos de Netflix, una película italiana de género misterio y suspenso que se llama Svanitti nella notte o Desaparecidos en la noche, y aquí les comparto mi reseña al respecto.

Hello friends! Last weekend I watched one of the latest Netflix releases, an Italian mystery and suspense genre movie called Svanitti nella notte or Disappeared in the night, and here I share with you my review about it.

Trama - Plot

Esta película sigue a Pietro y Elena, un matrimonio que está atravesando por un proceso de divorcio complicado ya que hay niños pequeños en el medio. Una noche en la que los hijos de Pietro se quedan con él en su casa de campo que se encuentra aislada de la ciudad, los niños desaparecen sin dejar rastros. Ahí la vida de Pietro da un vuelco y empieza a hacer lo impensado para recuperar a sus hijos. En el medio, descubrirá que no todo es lo que parece y que el culpable podría estar mucho más cerca de lo que cree.

This film follows Pietro and Elena, a married couple going through a complicated divorce process as there are young children in the middle. One night when Pietro's children stay with him at his country house, which is isolated from the city, the children disappear without a trace. Pietro's life is turned upside down and he begins to do the unthinkable to get his children back. In the middle, he will discover that not everything is what it seems and that the culprit could be much closer than he thinks.

Cuando hay niños en un matrimonio que está en la ruina el proceso de divorcio se hace tedioso y difícil para todas las partes involucradas. Sin embargo, uno intenta hacer lo que sea mejor para los pequeños, aunque a veces no haya acuerdos y se torne todo complicado. La vida de Pietro ya era un caos antes del divorcio, con problemas de apuestas y una deuda que saldar se encuentra acorralado en cuanto a dinero. Esto le juega una mala pasada y su vida se pone mucho peor cuando ocurre lo de sus hijos.

When there are children in a marriage that is in ruins, the divorce process becomes tedious and difficult for all parties involved. However, one tries to do what is best for the little ones, even if sometimes there are no agreements and everything becomes complicated. Pietro's life was already in chaos before the divorce, with gambling problems and a debt to pay off he finds himself strapped for cash. This plays a trick on him and his life gets much worse when his children are involved.

La trama me pareció bastante interesante de entrada porque nos presentan este matrimonio que supo ser feliz una vez y luego todo acabó. Con el secuestro de los pequeños vino la parte de misterio, intentar descubrir quién los tomó y averiguar cómo conseguir el dinero para el rescate. El lado del suspenso lo sentí palpable porque toda la película tuve un mal presentimiento de que algo malo iba a ocurrir. Me gusta cuando las películas logran transmitir estos sentimientos, significa que me metí de lleno en la trama.

I found the plot quite interesting right off the bat because we are introduced to this marriage that was once happy and then it all ended. With the kidnapping of the little ones came the mystery part, trying to find out who took them and figuring out how to get the ransom money. The suspense side I felt palpable because the whole movie I had a bad feeling that something bad was going to happen. I like it when movies manage to convey these feelings, it means I got really into the plot.

Aunque a media película me iba haciendo una hipótesis de lo que podría haber pasado porque la trama te lleva para un lado que no es tan así y pude confirmar mis sospechas. Sin embargo, también me sorprendí muchísimo con el resultado final porque hay que tener valor para hacer algo como esto. Hay que tener frialdad sabiendo que un mínimo error le podría haber costado la vida a los niños. No doy detalles importantes porque les estaría arruinando la película.

Although halfway through the film I was making a hypothesis of what could have happened because the plot takes you to a side that is not so and I was able to confirm my suspicions. However, I was also very surprised with the final result because it takes courage to do something like this. You have to be cool knowing that the slightest mistake could have cost the children their lives. I won't give important details because I would be ruining the film for you.

Me encantó ese juego mental que hicieron con el personaje de Pietro, como te hacen dudar de su salud mental, y con esos detalles que no terminan de cerrar hasta que se llega al final y todo converge en un buen clima de cierre. Este también es abierto y a libre interpretación, quizá no me convenció tanto el final, pero estuvo bien logrado y nos muestra una familia bastante disfuncional que a pesar de todo parecen quererse aunque de una manera muy tóxica.

I loved the mental game they did with Pietro's character, how they make you doubt about his mental health, and with those details that do not end up closing until the end and everything converges in a good closing atmosphere. This one is also open and free interpretation, maybe I was not so convinced by the ending, but it was well done and shows us a dysfunctional family that despite everything seem to love each other but in a very toxic way.
