¡Hola amigos! Espero que se encuentren todos muy bien. Hoy les vengo a compartir la reseña de otra comedia romántica que vi en estos días llamada Cinco citas a ciegas.

Hello friends! I hope you are all feeling great. Today I come to share with you the review of another romantic comedy I saw these days called Five Blind Dates.

Lia siempre soñó con tener su propia tetería y tras el fallecimiento de su abuela, esta le heredó una suma importante de dinero para que vaya a perseguir su sueño. Esto se ve truncado ya que a la tienda de té no le va bien, con un montón de deudas que pagar y la boda de su hermana a la vuelta de la esquina, Lia tiene que fingir que todo está bien para no admitir su fracaso ante su familia. Las cosas empeoran cuando una adivina predice que el éxito de su tetería está ligado con el romance y que conocerá a su alma gemela después de tener cinco citas antes de la boda de su hermana. Su familia toma la delantera del asunto y cada uno le organiza una cita a ciegas, ¿podrá ser alguno de ellos el alma gemela de Lia?

Lia always dreamed of owning her own tea shop and after her grandmother passed away, she inherited a substantial sum of money for her to go and pursue her dream. This is cut short as the tea store is not doing well, with a pile of debts to pay and her sister's wedding around the corner, Lia has to pretend that everything is fine so as not to admit her failure to her family. Things take a turn for the worse when a fortune teller predicts that her tea shop's success is linked to romance and that she will meet her soul mate after going on five dates before her sister's wedding. Her family takes the lead in the affair and each arranges a blind date for her, can any of them be Lia's soul mate?

Bueno, como podrán notar es una trama bastante simple y nada fuera de lo común, pero lo que hay que destacar es el trasfondo de esta historia. Empezando con que Lia es china y ellos tienen toda una cultura bastante estricta en ciertos temas. Sin embargo, Lia se animó a desafiar las reglas al irse de su ciudad natal y perseguir su sueño, aunque al principio no haya resultado como lo esperaba, finge sobre este hecho porque no quiere que la tilden como el fracaso de su familia. A esto se suma que su hermana pequeña se está por casar y ella todavía sigue soltera. Que no tendría nada de malo, pero de nuevo, ya saben cómo funcionan este tipo de culturas con respecto al matrimonio.

Well, as you may notice it's a pretty simple plot and nothing out of the ordinary, but what should be emphasized is the background of this story. Starting with the fact that Lia is Chinese and they have a very strict culture on certain issues. However, Lia dared to defy the rules by leaving her hometown and pursuing her dream, although at first it didn't turn out as she expected, she pretends about this fact because she doesn't want to be branded as the failure of her family. Add to this the fact that her little sister is getting married and she is still single. Which wouldn't be a bad thing, but then again, you know how these kinds of cultures work with regard to marriage.

De todos modos, pienso que esta no es la típica familia china que se deben estar imaginando, no los sentí muy estrictos o rígidos como se podría dar a entender. Es una familia disfuncional, pero eso la hace mucho más cercana a la realidad. Cada uno de ellos tiene una personalidad bastante risueña y arrolladora, eso sí, pueden resultar bastante intensos. Es por esto que la relación de la protagonista con ellos es distante, pero al final logran limar sus asperezas.

Anyway, I think this is not the typical Chinese family you might be imagining, I didn't feel them very strict or rigid as you might imply. It's a dysfunctional family, but that makes it much closer to reality. Each one of them has a pretty laugh-out-loud personality, but they can be quite intense. This is why the protagonist's relationship with them is distant, but in the end they manage to iron out their differences.

Con respecto a las citas a ciegas organizadas por sus familiares debo decir que fueron bastantes cómicas. Es curioso ver cómo cada uno pensó en lo que podría llegar a servirle a ella, que al final termina sacando cosas buenas de estas salidas, pero que lejos tienen que ver con lo que ella de verdad quería. Sin embargo, todo fue un aprendizaje.

Regarding the blind dates organized by her relatives, I must say that they were quite comical. It's funny to see how each one thought about what could be useful to her, which in the end ends up getting good things out of these outings, but far from what she really wanted. However, it was all a learning experience.

Creo que el único error que destaco es hacer ver como si el éxito profesional y económico de la protagonista dependiera de si encontraba un amor. Si bien esto ayudó a que se diera cuenta de cosas que había pasado por alto, no vi para nada que haya sido el factor fundamental de su éxito con la teteria.

I think the only mistake I would point out is to make it seem as if the protagonist's professional and economic success depended on her finding love. While this helped her realize things she had overlooked, I didn't see it as the fundamental factor in her success with the tea shop.

La verdad es una película muy entretenida, me encontré riendo en varias partes y al final fue lo suficiente emotiva como a mí me suelen gustar. También tuvo su buena dosis de romance del bueno, de ese que me encanta mirar. Así que mi valoración es positiva. Además es bastante corta, dura menos de una hora y media, es ideal para verla de un tirón algún día que quieran ver algo ligero, entretenido y romántico. Sin dudas, la volvería a mirar.

The truth is a very entertaining movie, I found myself laughing in several parts and at the end it was emotional enough as I usually like. It also had a good dose of good romance, the kind I love to watch. So my rating is positive. It is also quite short, lasting less than an hour and a half, it is ideal to watch it in one sitting some day when you want to see something light, entertaining and romantic. I would definitely watch it again.
