🎬 Movie Review: Alien Romulus [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! En el día de hoy les traigo la reseña de una nueva entrega de la saga de aliens, la quería ver hace bastante, pero no había podido hasta ahora. Si bien soy fan de las primeras entregas, no le seguí la pista a las anteriores pero quería darle una oportunidad a Alien: Romulus para ver si me enganchaba de nuevo en este mundo.

Hello friends! Today I bring you the review of a new installment of the alien saga, I wanted to see it for a long time, but I had not been able to until now. While I'm a fan of the first installments, I didn't keep track of the previous ones but I wanted to give Alien: Romulus a chance to see if it would get me hooked again in this world.

Un grupo de amigos de colonizadores espaciales intenta salir de la colonia minera de Jackson's Star que los está enfermando de a poco e ir a un destino mejor para vivir. Para ello necesitarán la ayuda de Rain, una joven huérfana que tiene de hermano adoptivo a un sintético reprogramado para protegerla. Él es la clave para ingresar a una estación abandonada en el espacio donde creen que encontrarán los criotanques necesarios para poder llegar hasta el planeta Yvaga, que queda a 9 años de distancia, donde se dice que verán la luz solar y tendrán un futuro mejor. Lo que no saben es que están por vivir su peor pesadilla a bordo de aquella estación.

A group of friends of space colonists try to leave the mining colony of Jackson's Star that is making them sick little by little and go to a better place to live. To do so, they will need the help of Rain, a young orphan whose adoptive brother is a synthetic reprogrammed to protect her. He is the key to enter an abandoned station in space where they believe they will find the necessary cryotanks to reach the planet Yvaga, which is 9 years away, where it is said that they will see the sunlight and have a better future. What they don't know is that they are about to live their worst nightmare aboard that station.

Voy a ser muy sincera y les diré que siento que se desvirtuó un montón este mundo de los aliens. Hace mucho que no veo una película de ellas, pero me la imaginaba diferente. Me decepcionaron un poco los aliens, quiero decir, no esperaba que me asustaran ni nada de eso, pero los recordaba más dignos de verse. No sé si se entiende, como que imponían respeto.

I'm going to be very honest and tell you that I feel that this world of aliens has been distorted a lot. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie about them, but I imagined it differently. I was a little disappointed in the aliens, I mean, I wasn't expecting them to scare me or anything, but I remembered them being more worth watching. I don't know if you get it, they kind of commanded respect.

Me sentí algo desconectada de la historia en un principio por lo que me costó engancharme a diferencia de otras películas, luego entre en tema y me resulto más interesante. Sobre todo cuando ingresaron a la nave espacial para recuperar esos tanques y el combustible necesario para que funcionará. Las escenas de acción y peligro lograron activarla, al igual que la aparición de los primeros xenomorfos.

I felt a little disconnected from the story at first so it was hard for me to get hooked unlike other movies, then I got into it and found it more interesting. Especially when they entered the spaceship to recover those tanks and the fuel needed to make it work. The scenes of action and danger managed to activate it, as well as the appearance of the first xenomorphs.

Aunque tengo que admitir que estuve bastante tensionada con esta película, siempre esperaba que pasará lo peor. Así y todo logró sorprenderme, quizá no era lo que esperaba, pero me resultó entretenida y me dio momentos que lograron traumarme para siempre. Sobre todo ese alien del final y su manera de "nacer", fue lo más horrible que vi en mucho tiempo y eso que vi cosas feas en mi vida eh. Pienso en esto y me da escalofríos jajaja.

Although I have to admit that I was quite tense with this movie, I always expected the worst to happen. Still, it managed to surprise me, maybe it wasn't what I expected, but I found it entertaining and it gave me moments that managed to traumatize me forever. Especially that alien at the end and the way it was “born”, it was the most horrible thing I've seen in a long time and I've seen ugly things in my life. I think about this and it gives me chills hahaha.

En líneas generales, me gustó, creo que tiene muchas cosas que podrían haber salido mejor, pero es entretenida y la trama no estuvo mal. Si es cierto que me costo engancharme al principio, pero me gustó el final, este es algo abierto y no se si piensen en una nueva entrega más adelante. Por lo pronto no me convence tanto otra película de esta saga, creo que algunas cosas son mejores dejarlas en el pasado, pero no descarto verla de todos modos. Siempre pueden mejorar.

Overall, I liked it, I think it has many things that could have been better, but it is entertaining and the plot was not bad. It is true that it was hard to get hooked at the beginning, but I liked the ending, this is something open and I do not know if they think of a new installment later. For now I'm not so convinced by another movie of this saga, I think some things are better left in the past, but I do not rule out seeing it anyway. They can always improve.
