Yesterday was a war. A war on the wasps. Let me set the stage. Tuesday, @lunamoon and I arrive home and other kiddos already there, let the dogs out. The dogs are excited to see us and begin trampling around on the deck. I notice a wasp on Ahsoka's butt and give it a whack.
This pissed off more than that one. Two more came from somewhere and stung both Luna and I, and also Ahsoka and Caramel. Caramel ate one, I killed another, and the other one left.
Yesterday, I saw one popping its head up through the deck and seeing it peekaboo, figured that's where so many came from so fast the day before. As I peered beyond the little asshole, I could see what appeared to be about a baseball sized nest.

I proceeded to get the everything killer spray and teamed up with @b34w0lf to eliminate any further stings to my family. Looking below the deck, I saw the almost volleyball (not baseball) sized nest and commenced the war. I was spraying and stomping and dodging while he hit home runs with the wiffle ball bat and stamped out some heads that dared crawl up through the deck slats.

After about an hour, all that remained was an empty paper nest and a few deathly hollowed sluggish wasps. We scraped the would be house of menace from the underpinning and I kept it as a trophy. I'll post a picture for you in the comments. Crisis averted.
So be careful. The spiders now, these are the same two from a few weeks ago that I showed you. They have grown and now will flourish even more with their competition officially eradicated. How was your Hump Day? Did you REMEMBER TO BE YOU!? I always am, even as I press past the sting.

My dog wages war on wasps anytime they're foolish enough to come close, but a nest is a different story altogether. Glad you won. Take that, wasps!
I don't mind most insects and likely would not have been so aggressive in removing them had they not stung four of us! And thank you 😁

Mine didn't swell much as I got hit on the hand, but was numb and burned for a little while. Lil princess got hit on her thigh and her leg was burning she said. I was allergic until I was about her age so kept an eye on it and it finally subsided this morning without any rushes to the hospital thankfully. Ha ha, I saw a raccoon two nights ago on the back deck eating catfood! Cute lil fella !LOLZ !PIMP !LUV you too Sass 😍

I don't like killing things, but yeah.. wasps are just assholes. They are one of those insects that sting you just because they are being assholes. You need to protect you kids. Good job winning the war!

Apparently, I didn't kill the eggs as these were waiting when I got home! They have since been taken care of and any remaining spawn also vanquished. Could you imagine 50 wasps buzzing around in my office? Sheesh. That would have been horrid.

Have you seen that a lot of the professionals use ship Vacs to clear out nests like that? Then they feed the larva to their chickens.
That's a good idea, maybe breed the taste into them and let some go free range on 'em !PIMP

A volleyball sized Wasp nest, that's big.
They appear here about this time year always in early August, but I have yet to see them buzzing around my BBQ lately. Saves me from checking under my deck, which is where I found previous nests.
I get hornets come a sniffing my grill, think they're more aggressive when it comes to meats 😝

I'm glad you won the war against those pesky things. For some odd reason I'm in a truce with mine. They are docile do to all the wildfires I believe. So been allowing them to live to continue their business. But they are annoying as hell.
The smoke placates them much like tobacco smoke that honey farmers use I imagine.
That's what I was thinking was happening.
