IMMACULATE... A Sanctuary Of Deceptions.

"IMMACULATE" offers a tense beginning that was amazing and had me hooked within the first one minute, I caught myself just totally hypnotized!

A 2024 horror and psychologically thrilling film directed by Michael Mohan. It revolves around Sister Cecilia (played by Sydney Sweeney), a devout American nun who moves to a picturesque Italian convent in an Italian countryside. She suffered a near-death experience as a teenager and afterwards believed that she was kept alive by God, for some reason. So she followed her heart to be much more, with her eventually becoming a nun. During her stay at this convent, she begins to discover increasingly unsettling, unfathomable secrets this place is hiding.

Then she becomes pregnant despite having made vows of celibacy, and despite everyone treating the pregnancy as a miracle of immaculate conception, she's actually not convinced she's the next Virgin Mary.
What about the perverted biologist wanting to recreate Jesus to save the world by using the flesh and blood found on the nail with which Jesus was crucified?

Sister Cecilia grows more suspicious of the whole "thing" that encompasses the convent and her pregnancy, then she starts to uncover some of the deepest and darkest secrets that the underbelly of the convent has to offer.

Though She tries to escape after faking injury to her abdomen where she seems to be profusely bleeding as things take a more sinister turn, but nobody leaves the convent.

And what doesn't happen next...?

I won't ever forget the film’s final few minutes that are jaw-droppingly and simultaneously horrifying but I won't spoil any of it.

My review;

In Sister Cecilia’s situation, Sydney Sweeney gives a stellar performance of the psychological torture she’s had to endure. The movie does an eerie job of working with silence, darkness and shadows, the looks of terror on Sweeney’s face as she moves through the old convent beautifully reveals her innermost fears.
I must confess that Sydney did an amazingly beautiful job!

The settings...hmmm, the settings were typical marble cloisters and beautiful vast halls in a tranquil Italian countryside, the striking visuals made the movie an excellent watch.

It was very messed up and so bloody, to the point where it was making me cringe and I really wished to see that those characters I absolutely despised, didn't make it to the end of the movie and did I exactly get what I wished for?

I would definitely give the film 4 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟 out of 5 for its beautiful storyline, wonderful execution, and absolutely gorgeous performances by all the characters, especially Sydney Sweeney.
