To this day I still can't figure out if they were true messiahs or just coincidences.

The ambiguity of everything was definitely a highlight, though comparing the way the movie ended to how the book did, the way frames it seems to imply that everything as insane as it was indeed happened to be real visions (what a coincidence the disasters stop after everything is done), though it's remarkable that in the case everything is true, that means that four random people and a loving family were chosen for very unknown reasons to die just to stop an apocalypse.

! [Book ending spoilers] When the original way it ended involved in the sacrifice not being done because of tragic reasons after Wen's accidental death from a gunshot by Leonard and Eric and Andrew decide to leave together to an uncertain fate as it's not made clear whether Wen's death did or did not count due to how it was accidental.

But I can believe that it still can be up for interpretation with how everything is framed so eerily.

Thanks for reading and for your comment!
