Movie Review About Indodax Bosses: 13 Bombs in Jakarta

Watching a movie adapted from a true story is not a new thing these days. In my country, many producers are competing to make movies from real events that are trivial. Well, fortunately they don't lose, so it's a trend now. However, have you ever watched a movie based on the real events of the founder of a crypto application? No, this is not a romance movie, but this is an action movie: titled 13 Bombs in Jakarta.

Based on this news, This story is based on the true story of the boss of Indodax (a major crypto trading platform in Indonesia) Oscar Darmawan and William Sutanto who were used as scapegoats by the perpetrators of bombings in 13 places in Jakarta. The terrorists asked for a ransom in the form of bitcoin crypto. If not fulfilled, there would be a bomb that would explode every few hours. Because it mentioned the name Bitcoin, investigators at that time thought Oscar and William were part of their gang. However, the investigators were finally helped by Oscar and William to uncover the perpetrators of the terrorism in Jakarta.

The film begins with an explosion of a money transport car on one of the streets in Jakarta. Instead of taking all the money, the terrorists let the money be taken by people who eventually caused chaos in Indonesia. The investigators led by Inspector Damascus and Karin, investigated this case as a cybercrime because the terrorists asked for a ransom of 100 bitcoin coins. If not granted, there will be 13 bombs that will be detonated periodically.

Because they mentioned Bitcoin, the investigators then arrested Indodax boss Oscar and William who were suspected of being involved in the bombing.

Then, because they want to clear their names, Oscar and William invite investigators to cooperate and prove that they were not involved in any acts of terrorism.

This film takes several points of view, namely the point of view of the terrorist, the investigator, and also the bosses of Indodax, Oscar and William, so that there are many characters that are shown intensely, not just one or two characters.

At first I thought that this was a film sponsored by Indodax so that Indodax was inevitably mentioned repeatedly and got a big part in the film. However, after I found out through online mailing lists, it turned out that it was a true story of Oscar and William that happened in 2015. No wonder I forgot about the incident, because in 2015 social media was not as big as it is now.

I was impressed with the way the filmmakers executed this film. Everything seemed real. The action, the ambush, and also the terrorism, everything was so tense. Plus the behind story of the terrorist action, as if giving a real message to the country's leaders. From the line-up of players who indeed have high achievements, this film is really luxurious and cool. Absolutely perfect!
