Cinetv Writing prompt: A Week Away
Nowhere left to go, Will Hawkins, a teenager who was an orphan finds himself in a camp. In the movie A week awayWill Hawkins is known as a troubled child who moved from foster homes to foster homes after making trouble. Left alone to face the tough world , he chose the hard way of survival which was nothing like the moral way.
He later found a home, a parent figure and a brother and now had a choice to either go for a Christmas summer camp or detention. It was an opportunity given to him to either choose to remain ratchet or change his lifestyle.
Despite Will Hawkins' bad behavior, he was a good singer. His musical talent helped him blend well with the other teenagers , leaving him with no choice but to act nicely contrary to who he was. He fell in love with a girl, afraid she may reject his real identity and pretend to be who he wasn't. Even though she felt there was something fake about who he was, she never figured it out. He tried on several occasions to let her know who he was but didn't have the courage to.
The last party night they held in the camp became a sour one for him, as a rival of his searched through his documents and discovered he wasn't who he claimed to be. He was in the party hall with the girl he loved when this guy publicly told everyone who he was. Unable to bear the shame, he left the camp.
Despite feeling deceived, she went after him and was able to talk him into returning. He helped his crew win the music competition and the entire camp had a large party the very day they were set to go. The movie had different scenes where the teenagers party as they sing songs while in the camp.
