The Deliverance - A dysfunctional family haunted by evil

Greetings friends, I wish you a happy Sunday with your family. Today I want to tell you a little about a movie that my sister in law recommended several days ago and I was encouraged to see it, I confess that I did not have much faith because I saw the synopsis and it was something quite similar to what I've seen before, however, I said I'm going to encourage me since I see an actress that I love and sure this movie I promise.

This movie is called The Deliverance, it was released this year 2024, we can see as I mentioned a very well known face for many, the actress Glen Close, who we can remember her in the great movie 101 Dalmatians, and that's just one has many known. She is a great artist, on the other hand, I must confess that this other actress that I will mention had not met her before, or maybe I do not remember her, I even saw a resemblance to Rihanna and I did some research on her, she is Andrea Day is a singer and songwriter.

It also features a little boy named Anthony B. Jenkins, I recently saw him in a movie with Hally Berry called Never Let Go. Very good acting for such a young age.

I want to start by telling you what is a very sensitive film, it is about a dysfunctional family, a single mother with 3 children, 2 boys and a girl who recently moved into a house, they also live with their grandmother Alberta (Glen Close) who is a fundamental base for this family. She is sick with cancer and is constantly going to receive her treatment in order to live. On the other hand, there is their daughter Ebony (Andra Day) a woman with severe anger and addiction problems, this has led him to make many mistakes with his children and is constantly being watched by a visitor in charge of minor issues. EBony is a broken woman, who has a bad relationship with her mother and is traumatized by events of her childhood.

Unfortunately, luck is not on their side as a strange smell begins to emerge from the depths of the basement, flies emerge and noises and strange behavior from Ebony Andre's youngest son, played by actor Anthony B. Jenkins. These behaviors gradually invade him at school and he begins to affect his siblings who are also going through problems with their mother.

Everything becomes complicated and dark, Ebony feels that many things are escaping from them, Alberta her mother and grandmother of the little ones is very worried and feels something very strange, she is attending a church and is sure that in the house there is a strange entity and that is why she goes to consult a Christian place. As an important fact there is a visitor of minor affairs, this one when leaving the house she visits realizes that there is another car with a suspicious woman who ends up being someone who knows that there is something strange in that house since it was inhabited in the past by a family that ended up dying in a tragic way, she wants to help them.

From there everything starts to get dark and ugly for this family ending with the life of grandmother and Ebony fighting against an evil one, who is totally unbelieving and does not want or is not interested in religion, but after terrible things start to happen and the lives of their children are compromised everything takes a surprising turn.

I must say that the movie is not a plot that is already well known, demons that take over people, a haunted house etc.. But what made this horror movie different is that they added drama, history and that part of the family where there can be dysfunctionality, past problems and fractured relationships. I liked that and it was interesting. The thing is, that gave it a plus and made my interest piqued.

It is a movie to watch as a family, it leaves you with a reflection. It leaves you thinking a lot about how difficult human relationships and having a healthy home with children can be. Having the economic means so that they lack nothing and that childhood and what you live in it is the outcome of how you will be in adulthood with yourself and with your own children. Those traumas are reflected in the mature age, it can make you an insecure person, resentful, etc. The score I would give it is 7/10, I hope you give it a chance too. Happy day!
