Fly Me To the Moon ✈️✈️
Fly me to the moon was directed by Greg Berlanti. The movie does prove to possess a high level of charm with really good chemistry. Some people might interpret it to be a pure rom-com, and I don't know if I would fully commit to calling it a rom-com because it's a nice adventure apart from that.
But when Tatum and Johansson are on screen, they have really good chemistry. And I liked the performances. I also liked some of the supporting cast as well. And overall, this movie's a good time. On the other hand though, I wouldn't say it was ‘great’. I felt like it lacked that unique element to it. Anyway, let's talk about Scarlett Johansson.
She is this prestige marketing agent, and they need her help to make the moon landing go smoothly, but also to provide them tips and tricks for maybe spreading this knowledge to the rest of the world because this is something that people need to see. They entertain certain fears in the process of going along with this plan like. Fears like not getting the video footage during the landing on the moon, or if there may be need to make arrangements to maneuver around a fake moon landing just to let people in.
There are so many things that they do in this movie that are obviously fictional. Talking about Channing Tatum's character, there's actually a really nice and somewhat gripping at times backstory that allows him to be a little more emotionally vulnerable than maybe I expected. Part of me thinks the movie tends to focus more on that and more on the ins and outs of nailing this moon landing than it actually does the romance.
And there were parts of the film that just didn't have the right balance between the two or three genres that it was trying to sift through. But it is one of those crowd-pleasing experiences that while the story is not that memorable and the characters aren't the best we've ever seen, that will provide a lot of people just a good time across the board.
Honestly, I had no clue it was going to be as charming and as warm and just smooth as it actually was. Just an easy ride from start to finish. Fly Me to the Moon blew me away. I guarantee that it's going to put a smile on your face. Surprisingly, Tatum and Johansson, they're perfect for these characters.
Fly Me to the Moon is perfectly okay and surprisingly pleasant. There is something about this smooth storytelling and these two charming leads that makes for a breezy watch. I admire the fact that Tatum and Johansson had solid chemistry in the movie.
It may not go down as the most memorable movie from 2024, but it works much better than anticipated. My first few minutes on the movie got me thinking that it was going to be an easily forgettable movie, but it managed to prove me wrong.
