RE: The Original Star Trek Trilogy

I'm somewhat sympathetic because I do get what Robert Wise was going for. I've watched the director's cut and listened to his commentary and his vision. But it just didn't work. Star Trek isn't a straight action film like Star Wars (despite the newer films trying to make it exactly that) but it's also not a straight philosophic voyage like 2001. The first film definitely went too far in that direction.
