Cameron Lake

(Edited)

This is Cameron Lake. Located about 20 minutes driving distance from Waterton townsite. One of many recommended activities in the surrounding area. Kayaking or canoeing, take your pick. For our lake activity, we chose to walk around the shoreline trail (will save the kayaking for next time). Before the hike, I had read a warning about the lakeside bugs being excessive. Now sometimes these “warnings” turn out to be much ado about nothing, but this time they were accurate. Yeah, too many flys and bugs around, which was a bit annoying, but still worth the hike anyhow. One thing to note about this lake, is that the mountain (Mount Custer) you see on the far side is actually inside the USA! Similar to Waterton Lake, about 20% of both lakes are inside the states.

It is beautiful to see this wonderful lake running inbetween the huge mountains. The colour is so striking in the picture, I can't imagine the beauty when seeing something like this in person.

Simply amazing, experiencing this in real life. Thanks for visiting @shamis.

The view of the lake is beautiful, the water looks very calm, the atmosphere there is definitely cool and peaceful.

avatar

Yes, it was fun, except for the bugs!

avatar

So you mean this lake is a sort of a boundary between the US and Canada?

avatar

Well, if you look on a map, the southern tip is actually inside the US, Waterton park is as far south as you can go in Canada. It is a border park.

Wow!... . An impressive natural landscape right on the Canada-EEEUU border!... Thank you for taking us to see these places, @daveks friend!...

Nice shots, looks like a fun place to venture out to. On my travel's I had one place next to the Colorado river that these bugs were flying around and their was so many it got pretty annoying that I had to move on from the spot. Thanks for sharing, have a great one my friend.

Generally bugs aren’t an issue, but when they are, can be super annoying. Thanks @shoemanchu.
