The Wild Robot: a beautiful and funny film [ENG/SPA]

I haven't had this much fun with an animated movie in a long time. I've seen many, being a father. Lately, movies are full of clichés, they repeat the same ideas over and over and lose their charm. I think the last animated movie I really enjoyed was The Mitchells vs. The Machines, a film that I believe was robbed of the Oscar the year it was nominated. Also, movies have tried to address woke content in an exaggerated way and that has also caused them to lose their appeal, but Dreamworks is a specialist in making people laugh and parodying, and with this movie they excelled.

El Robot Salvaje: una bella y divertida película

Hace mucho no me divertía tanto con una película animada, he visto muchas, soy padre. Ultimamente las peliculas estan cargadas de cliches, repiten y repiten ideas y pierden la gracia, creo que la última película animada con la que me divertí fue The Mitchells vs Machines, película a la que creo le fue robado el oscar en el año que estuvo nominada. También las películas han querido abordar el contenido woke de forma exagerada y eso también a provocado que pierdan la gracia, pero Dreamworks es especialista en hacer reír y parodiar, y con esta película se destacaron muy bien.

When I saw the trailer, I had my doubts that it would be funny. I knew my youngest daughter would love it because of its tender scenes, so I would end up watching it anyway because it's a tradition to watch these kinds of movies together. Its premise is simple, after an accident due to a storm, what looks like a cargo transport crashes on an island and part of its cargo is destroyed, except for a robot that is activated by a curious group of otters. We immediately discover that it is a service robot because it introduces itself as the ROZZUM 7134 unit or Roz, asking the island's animals what it can do for them.

Cuando vi el trailer tuve mis dudas que fuera algo divertido, sabía que a mi hija menor le encantaría por lo tierno de sus escenas, así que igualmente terminaría viendola porque es una tradición ver este tipo de películas juntos. Su premisa es sencilla, tras un accidente debido a una tormenta, lo parece un transporte de carga se estrella en una isla y parte de su cargamento se destruye, con excepción de un robot que se activa gracias a una curiosas nutrias. De inmediato descubrimos que es un robot de servicio porque se anuncia como la unidad ROZZUM 7134 o Roz preguntando a los animales de la isla que puede hacer por ellos.

For several days Roz asks the animals what it can do for them, but not getting an answer, it spends several days deciphering how the animals communicate. When it finally understands them, the animals attack it and see it as a threat. It suffers an accident that ends with the family of a small goose, which ends up taking care of it after noticing that it has left it vulnerable without its family. That's why it adopts the situation as an assigned task that it must fulfill as a robot.

Durante varios días Roz pregunta a los animales que puede hacer por ellos, pero al no tener respuesta pasa varios días descifrando como se comunican los animales. Cuando finalmente les comprende, los animales le atacan y le ven como una amenaza, sufre un accidente que acaba con la familia de un pequeño ganso, que termina cuidando al notar que lo a dejado vulnerable sin su familia, por eso adopta la situación como una tarea asignada que debe cumplir como robot.

Roz initially approaches the situation from its logic, for which it has been programmed, but little by little it discovers, with some help, that its programming did not prepare it for that situation, motherhood. It may seem strange, but this is the heart of the movie, even though the robot sees feeding, teaching to swim and fly as tasks, mothers, even those in nature, instinctively care for their young as if it were part of their natural programming, but in the process, a special connection arises that goes beyond logic and that unites them with their children in a special way.

Roz desde un principio aborda la situación desde su lógica, para lo cual a sido programada, pero poco a poco descubre, con algo de ayuda, que su programación no le preparó para esa situación, la maternidad. Puede que parezca extraño, pero este es el corazón de la película, aunque el robot ve el alimentar, enseñar a nadar y volar como tareas, las madres, incluso las de la naturaleza, instintivamente cuidan a sus pequeños como si fuera parte de su programación natural, pero en el proceso surge una conexión especial que va mas allá de la lógica y que les une con sus hijos de forma especial.

This kind of connection is what the movie seeks to convey as a message, how a mother, despite how hard it can be to take care of her children, develops very deep emotional bonds. I had the opportunity to watch part of an interview with Lupita Nyong'o who is the actress who voices the character of Roz. In the interview, she states that during the recording she had to perform three types of tones of voice to emphasize the development of the character as she sets aside her robot programming and discovers that there is something that connects her in a special way with Brillo the little goose, this statement made me appreciate the work done much more.

Esta tipo de conexión es lo que busca transmitir la película como mensaje, como una madre a pesar de lo duro que puede ser cuidar de sus hijos, desarrolla lazos afectivos muy profundos. Tuve la oportunidad de ver parte de una entrevista a Lupita Nyong'o quien es la actriz que presta su voz para el personaje de Roz. En la entrevista declara que durante a grabación debía realizar tres tipos de tonos de voz para enfatizar el desarrollo del personaje a medida que hace un lado su programación de robot y descubre que hay algo que le conecta de forma especial con Brillo el pequeño ganso, esta declaración me hizo valorar mucho mas el trabajo hecho.

I think the best way to describe this movie is as beautiful and funny, there is tenderness and guaranteed tears, but also many funny moments, wow I laughed so many times. In conclusion, I had a great time, I highly recommend it, although in the last 30 minutes the movie departs from its essence and falls into cliché, it's worth watching, and this is just the premise.

Creo que la mejor manera de describir esta película es como bella y divertida, hay ternura y llantos garantizados, pero también muchos momentos divertidos, vaya que me rei demasiadas veces. En conclusion la pase muy bien, la recomiendo ampliamente, aunque en los últimos 30 minutos la película se aparte de su esencia y cae en el cliche, vale la pena verla, y esto que les cuento es solo la premisa.
