How's it going community?

On June 6th, the third season of this intriguing series premiered, another installment in what I call the Taylor Sheridan universe. If you're not familiar with him, this writer and director is the mind behind shows like Yellowstone, 1923, 1883, and Bass Reave. I had this show on my watchlist and caught up on the first two seasons to be ready for the third.

El 6 de junio se estrenó la tercera temporada de esta interesante serie, una más de lo que yo llamo el universo de Taylor Sheridan, si no lo conoces este escritor y director a sido el creador de series como Yellowstone, 1923, 1883, Bass Reave, etc. Esta serie la tenía pendiente y me puse al día con las dos primeras temporadas, para estar listo para la tercera.

The premise of the series revolves around the lives of three brothers who, in a way, inherited the family business. Their father served as a mediator between the different criminal and security groups in the town of Kingstown, Michigan. Each group or gang had its own space to operate, conduct its business, and profit without interfering with the others, and the McLusky family made sure of that.

La premisa de esta serie se basa en la vida de 3 hermanos que de alguna manera heredaron el negocio familiar, su padre servía de mediador entre los distintos grupos delictivos y de seguridad del pueblo de Kingstown en el estado de Michigan, Estados Unidos. Cada grupo o banda tenía su espacio para operar, realizar sus negocios y lucrar sin afectar de además al resto, de eso se aseguraba la familia McLusky.

When the father dies, the business falls to the eldest son, Mitch McLusky, played by Kyle Chandler. But after a negotiation goes wrong, he's killed by an ex-con, forcing his younger brother Mike, played by Jeremy Renner, to take over the business. Mike knows that if he doesn't, Kingstown will be plunged into a gang war.

Al morir el padre el negocio queda a cargo del hijo mayor Mitch McLusky protagonizado por Kyle Chandler, pero tras salir mal una negociación es asesinado por un ex convicto, esto obliga a su hermano menor Mike, protagonizado por Jeremy Renner, a seguir atendiendo el negocio ya que el sabe que de no hacerlo el pueblo de Kingstown se vería inmerso en una guerra de bandas.

Anyone in Kingstown with a relative or acquaintance who's been sentenced to jail seeks out Mike. They pay him to use his connections to get them a different deal in prison, to be placed with the group they identify with, and to receive certain benefits according to how much they pay. There are four criminal groups operating in the town and the prison, each with a leader inside and out to manage the smuggling of drugs, money, and even human trafficking.

Cualquier persona en Kingstown que tenga un familiar o conocido que es sentenciado a una condena en la cárcel busca a Mike y le paga para que el gracias a sus contactos le consiga un trato diferente en la cárcel, sea colocado con el grupo que se identifique y que reciba ciertos beneficios de acuerdo a cuánto paguen. Hay 4 grupo delictivos que operan en el pueblo y en la cárcel, teniendo un líder en la cárcel y en la calle para manejar el contrabando de drogas, dinero e incluso la trata de personas.

The McLuskys believe that this is the only way to control such a corrupt system. They see themselves as the arbiters between good and evil. Everything that happens in the town goes through Mike (Jeremy Renner). He has to be consulted to avoid federal court, to prevent the gangs from going to war with each other. Everything is analyzed by this character to keep the town off the radar and everyone "happy."

Los McLusky creen que esta es la única manera de controlar un sistema tan corrupto, que haya un árbitro entre buenos y malos, todo lo que ocurre en el pueblo tiene que ver con Mike (Jeremy Renner) todo le tiene que ser consultado para evitar tribunales federales, para que las pandillas no entre en guerras unas contra otras, realmente todo cuenta con el análisis de este personaje para que el pueblo quede fuera del radar y todos sean "felices".

The episodes unfold amidst various conflicts that Mike handles. He has to find hidden money from the leader of the Aryans, ensure that the main African American gang gets justice after one of its members is killed by a prison guard, deal with a riot in the prison, appoint new leaders inside, and seek justice for murdered cops. All of this happens in action-packed episodes.

Los episodios transcurren entre distintos conflicto que Mike atiende, encontrar dinero oculto del líder de los Arios, que la principal banda criminal de personas de color reciba justicia tras la muerte de uno de sus miembros por uno de los guardias de la cárcel, un motion en la cárcel que se sale de control, llamar nuevos lideres dentro de la carcel, justicia para policías asesinados, y todo esto en episodios con mucha acción y adrenalina.

The plot may seem complex, but it really isn't. The show basically suggests that for these people, there is no other way to deal with corruption than with more corruption. It shows how rotten a system and a government can be for a man to have to serve as a mediator between perverse men who only seek to profit from filth. But in the end, evil cannot be sustained for long.

La trama parece que fuera algo compleja pero realmente no lo es, básicamente lo que da a entender que para estas personas no hay otra forma de lidiar con la corrupcion que con mas corrupcion, muestra lo podrido que puede estar un sistema y un gobierno para que un hombre tenga que servir como mediador entre hombre perversos que solo buscan lucrar con basura, pero que al final lo perverso y lo malo no se puede sostener por mucho tiempo.

Jeremy Renner stands out with his character development and performance. He plays a broken man haunted by his past ghosts, but who believes he is doing the right thing for his family and friends in town. He thinks it's his duty to keep the peace. Other characters appear as the series progresses, but not all of them stand out. Perhaps the most notable is Aidan Gillen as Milo Sunter, who becomes the protagonist's main enemy, and an interesting power struggle develops between them.

Jeremy Renner destaca mucho con el desarrollo e interpretación de su personaje, un hombre quebrado que le perturban sus fantasmas del pasado, pero que cree estar haciendo el bien por su familia y amigos del pueblo, cree que es su deber mantener el orden. Otros personajes aparecen a medida que la serie avanza pero o todos destacan, quizás el de Aidan Gillen como Milo Sunter que se convierte en el principal enemigo del protagonista y se desarrolla una lucha de poder interesante entre ellos.
