Has The Boys lost its edge in Season 4? [ENG/SPA]

I thought I could finish the current season of The Boys, but honestly, I'm feeling overwhelmed by this show. That's why I'm sharing this post with you to explain my reasons. This season has everything that The Boys is about, but I think the excessive brutality has gone too far. It was so much that it showed in its first 3 seasons that it seems like they don't have to come up with anything new.

Crei que podria finalizar la temporada actual de The Boys pero la verdad que me siento saturado con esta serie, por eso les comparto esta publicación con mis razones. Esta temporada tiene todo lo que The Boys es, pero creo que el exceso de crudeza ya a sobrepasado los limites, fue tanto lo que mostró en sus primeras 3 temporadas que pareciera que no tienen que inventar.

From the very beginning, The Boys has prioritized shock value above all else, regardless of negative feedback about its plot and pacing. Controversy has always been the show's premise, and it's what has made it a success among a large audience. Viewers don't seem to mind that the show explores the darkest sides of power and fame, questioning morality and the limits of justice.

La serie siempre ha tenido como prioridad generar impacto ante todo, sin importar los comentarios negativos sobre su trama y como se desencadenan los acontecimientos, la premisa siempre fue la controversia y eso le valió el éxito entre una nutrida audiencia, que no le pareció importar que la serie explore los lados más oscuros del poder y la fama, cuestionando la moralidad y los límites de la justicia.

How could I forget the impact it had on me when A-Train runs through Hughie's girlfriend at full speed? This collateral damage that was never shown in other movies and series, that we've always known exists, that many die after the epic battles of heroes and villains, but was never given importance. But with The Boys, collateral damage takes center stage.

Como olvidar el impacto que me causó cuando A-train atraviesa a toda velocidad a la novia de Hughie, ese daño colateral que jamas se mostro en otras películas y series, que siempre hemos sabido que existe, que mueren muchos tras las batallas titánicas de heroes y villanos, pero nunca se les dio importancia, pero con The Boys el daño colateral tomó el protagonismo.

I really enjoyed the fact that the most normal guy like Hughie, an ordinary man who at first glance seems to have nothing to offer, becomes a protagonist because of his desire for revenge against people who seem invincible. Not to mention Butcher and his vendetta against Homelander. You can't tell if he's good or bad, but what is clear is that they are complex characters that generate both sympathy and hatred.

Disfrute mucho el hecho de que el tipo mas normal como lo es Hughie, un hombre básico que tras una primera impresión parece que no tiene nada que ofrecer, pero pasa a convertirse en protagonista por su deseo de venganza contra personas que parecen invencibles. Ni hablar de Butcher y su venganza contra Homelander, no sabes si es bueno o malo, lo que si me queda claro es que son personajes complejos que generan tanto simpatía como odio.

In this season, the character of Homelander is still detestable to me I haven't seen any evolution in him. He continues to use his powers to exert control over others for narcissistic personal gain, and now that way of being is present in other "heroes" who use their powers for pleasure, without caring about exceeding limits, It's more of the same.

En esta temporada el personaje de Homelander sigue siendo detestable para mi, no vi ninguna evolución en el, sigue usando sus poderes para ejercer control sobre otros por un beneficio personal narcisista, y ahora esa manera de ser esta presente presente en otros "heroes" que usan su poderes para darse placer, sin impártales sobrepasar límites, es mas de lo mismo.

The fact is that we already have three seasons of grotesque and sadistic language, I never thought that the writers and directors would go out of their way to try to be even more grotesque, losing opportunities to enrich a story and instead delivering scene after scene of a guy shooting webs out of his ass.

El caso es que ya tenemos tres temporadas de lenguaje grotesco y sádico, jamás pensé que los guionistas y directores harían lo posible por tratar de ser aun mas grotescos, perdiendo oportunidades de enriquecer una historia y no escenas tras escena de tipos votando telaraña por el trasero.

I think the show has strayed from its original premise, which was to satirize superhero stories and show that they can be just as despicable and selfish as anyone else. It's not about good guys vs. bad guys. The Boys was the story of selfish people with a thirst for revenge, facing off against dark beings with the appearance of goodness, and that's been lost.

Creo que la serie se apartó de su premisa inicial, ser una burla a las historias de superheroes, demostrar que pueden ser personas detestables y egoístas como cualquier otro, nada de los buenos contra los malos, The Boys era la historia de personas egoístas con sed de venganza, enfrentándose contra seres oscuros con apariencia de bondad, y eso se perdió.

I think the path the show should have taken was to develop the virus. This could generate the necessary controversy that the show loves to create in its audience. The ethics around how a perverse means could be necessary to stop a greater evil was barely addressed. It doesn't seem important, and I think that's a mistake.

Creo que el camino que la serie debió transitar era el desarrollo del virus, este podría generar la controversia necesaria que a la serie le gusta crear en la audiencia. La ética alrededor de como un medio perverso podría ser necesario para frenar una maldad mayor, se abordo muy poco, no parece importante y creo que es un error.

Maybe the last episode will deliver a shocking ending and everything else will be left as the kind of content we've come to expect from The Boys, but I don't think so. After 7 episodes, I don't think that just one will have that shocking twist. I think I'll be disappointed again, like when Butcher finally had Homelander in his grasp after three seasons and ended up helping him. Please!!!!

Quizas en el ultimo episodio se de un cierre impactante y todo lo demás queda como contenido al que The Boys nos tuvo acostumbrados, pero no creo que sea así, tras 7 episodios no creo que en uno solo se haga ese giro de tuerca impactante, creo que me sentiré decepcionado nuevamente como cuando Butcher tras tres temporadas finalmente tuvo a Homelander para destruirlo y termina ayudándole, por favor!!!!

Overall, I think The Boys has lost its way. It started out as a fresh and satirical take on the superhero genre, but it has now become just another show that relies on shock value and gore to entertain its audience. I'm hoping that the last episode will redeem the season.

En general, creo que The Boys ha perdido el rumbo. Comenzó como una visión fresca y satírica del género de los superhéroes, pero ahora se ha convertido en otra serie que se basa en el valor de choque y el gore para entretener a su público. Espero que el último episodio redima la temporada.
