Getting lost is starting the journey - Mufasa The Lion King [ENG/SPA]

I recently saw Mufasa: The Lion King and I loved it, let me tell you why. It's a prequel, telling us the origins of the beloved character from the 1994 animated film The Lion King, from when he was a cub to becoming king, but without addressing the moment he becomes Simba's father. The animation style is live-action, which I think is a great choice, after all the animated failures of the films that followed the first one.

Perderse es emprender el camino - Mufasa el Rey León

Recientemente he visto Mufasa el Rey León y me encantó, dejame te cuento porque. Se trata de una precuela, nos cuenta los inicios del querido personaje de la película animada el Rey León de 1994, desde que fue un cachorro hasta convertirse en rey pero sin abordar el momento en que se convierte en el padre de Simba. El estilo de animación es liveaction, lo que me parece muy acertado, luego de todos los fracasos animados de las de las películas que siguieron a la primera.

The story unfolds through Rafiki's narration, which he shares with young Kiara, Simba and Nala's daughter, in the present. To teach the young lioness a lesson, Rafiki tells her how Mufasa became a great king, through his struggles, challenges, and the relationships that shaped him. As the film progresses, you gradually identify the characters we all know from the first film and what role they play in Mufasa's life.

La historia se desarrolla a través del relato de Rafiki, quien la comparte con la pequeña Kiara la hija de Simba y Nala en el presente. A fin de darle una enseñanza a la joven leona, Rafiki le cuenta como Mufasa se convirtió en un gran rey, tras sus luchas, desafíos y las relaciones que lo moldearon. A medida que avanza la película vas identificado de a poco, a los personajes que todos conocimos gracias a la primera película y que papel juegan en la vida de Mufasa.

The first thing that strikes you is the animation; the work is incredible. The representation of the African savannah, its jungles and mountains is spectacular. The characters and their level of detail are very well done. I highly recommend watching this movie in the highest resolution you can; if you have the opportunity to do it in 4K, don't hesitate, because if you watch it in a lower resolution, you waste the opportunity to be amazed by the landscapes.

Con lo primero que te impactas es la animación, el trabajo es increíble, la representación de la sabana africana, sus selvas y montañas es espectacular, los personajes y su nivel de detalles están muy bien logrados, desde ya te recomiendo ver esta película en la máxima resolución que puedas, si tienes la oportunidad de hacerlo en 4k, no lo dudes, porque si la ves en menor resolución desperdicias la oportunidad de asombrarte con los paisajes.

Although visually it's quite a spectacle, I recommend paying close attention to the teachings and messages the film offers. It addresses many deep themes such as uprooting, loss, and how these experiences shape character and the ability to adapt. I love how it addresses the theme of leadership, which doesn't depend solely on lineage or rights; it also depends on the actions we take according to the character that is forged in us after overcoming difficulties.

Aunque visualmente es todo un espectáculo, te recomiendo estar muy atento a las enseñanzas y mensajes que la película ofrece. Aborda muchos temas profundos como el desarraigo, la pérdida y cómo estas experiencias moldean el carácter y la capacidad de adaptación. Me encanta cómo aborda el tema del liderazgo, que no depende solamente del linaje o derechos, también depende de las acciones que tomamos según el carácter que se forja en nosotros luego de superar las dificultades.

For those of us who are parents, this film leaves great lessons. It addresses topics about parenting, how the lion is the protector but can become more than that, all depending on how he is raised. That guidance is essential from the mother, which is why we see how Mufasa is shaped thanks to the teachings of a lioness who adopts him and teaches him empathy for everyone without distinction, along with a strong sense of collaboration and to exercise authority through respect and not fear.

Para quienes somos padres, esta película deja grandes enseñanzas, aborda temas sobre la crianza, como el león es el protector pero que puede llegar a ser mas que eso, todo dependerá de cómo sea criado, esa guia es esencial de parte de la madre, por eso vemos como Mufasa el moldeado gracias a las enseñanzas de una leona que lo adopta y le enseña la empatía por todos sin distinción, junto a un fuerte sentido de colaboración y a ejercer la autoridad por respeto y no por temor.

I was delighted with all the messages the film provides; the nostalgia hit is big, especially for those of us who were children when the first film was released. I was much more excited than my children with this film, because I saw The Lion King many times when I was a child, I know all its songs by heart, and I must say that the songs in this one are also very good.

Quedé encantado con todos los mensajes que la película brinda, el golpe de nostalgia es grande, especialmente para quienes fuimos niños cuando la primera película se estrenó. Yo estaba mucho más emocionado que mis hijos con esta película, porque vi el Rey León muchas veces cuando era niño, me se de memoria todas sus canciones, y debo decir que las canciones de esta también son muy buenas.

There's a scene that leaves a wonderful phrase. Mufasa, after losing his parents and being lost for many days, finds a lioness and her cub. She's about to reject him because she thinks he's a vagabond, to which he replies that he's lost. Then she turns and says to him: "Getting lost is starting the journey." Simply wonderful!"

Hay una escena que deja una frase maravillosa. Mufasa luego de haber perdido a sus padres y estar perdido por muchos días encuentra a una leona y su cachorro, ella está por rechazarlo porque cree que es un vagabundo, a lo que él le responde que esta perdido, entonces ella se vuelve y le dice: Perderse es emprender el camino ¡Sencillamente maravilloso!
