Red Faction Origins

The 2011 movie Red Faction Origins, which was inspired by the game Red Faction Origins, is a sci-fi movie that I found successful in terms of its plot but unsuccessful in terms of the story and actor performances.

A subject that could have been very beautiful is squeezed between rebellion, betrayal and revenge. Actually, the triangle sounds like it promises great things, but the way the story is handled reverses the expectation and makes the movie a failure. I don't know the story of the game, but if I assume that the movie is faithful to the game, I was tempted to play the game, but I was not tempted to watch it.

Rebel general Alec Mason (played by Robert Patrick) has liberated the Martian colonies but has to pay the price in the death of his wife and the abduction of his daughter Lyra (played by Tamzin Merchant). Alec's surviving son Jake Mason (played by Brian J Smith) builds his own story and that of his kidnapped sister Lyra on the central theme of the movie.

In a way, what we see in Red Faction Origins is the consequences of the ongoing revenge and the struggle of the brothers who have become rivals by taking part in hostile units over time. Although I liked the story on paper, the reason I didn't like the movie while watching it was not only the way the story was handled. It was the characters, the costumes and the storyline that was put into a vicious circle and could not be developed or advanced.

The action scenes were also very inadequate. The behavior and dialogues of the characters make you lose touch with the story, which you can never get into. This has an incredibly negative impact on the viewing pleasure and makes the movie quite simplistic.

The fact that there is no mystery to the story is a disadvantage of the transition from a game to a movie, but I didn't expect the story and the ending to be so obvious. It wasn't hard to guess the next scene and what was going to happen in the movie and the ending was ordinary.

You know those final scenes where someone has to sacrifice themselves in order to survive, and the movie makes it clear almost in the middle of the movie that it's going to do exactly that. I don't know to what extent you would be inclined to watch something that you already know the outcome of. Personally, I watched the movie until the end, but I lost the pleasure of watching it.

Red Faction Origins could not rise above mediocre. It was very bad in terms of plot and processing. The movie tried to reflect the sci-fi atmosphere through the planets and the weapons used. It was successful in this, but when you don't add something and blend it, it looks very plain and loses its value.

I don't recommend watching the movie. The time spent deserves better movies. Thank you very much for being here and reading. I hope you are having a good weekend. Take care and goodbye!
