Honeymoon (Líbánky)

People's past continues to follow them just like their shadow. Like the light that makes the shadow appear, it waits for the necessary conditions to arise in the past. What doesn't change is that sooner or later our past lives will somehow be revealed to us, either by themselves or by someone else.

On the day when a person is supposed to be at his or her happiest, the revelation of past deeds can be seen as a harbinger of drama. At least for me personally, and on the happiest day, no one wants to deal with a back story from years ago that they thought they had left behind.

The 2013 movie Líbánky, which I found quite interesting with its drama and thriller story, is one of the examples of how the past can come back to haunt a person at the most unexpected moment.

I admit that it is hard for me to say whether the movie is a success or a failure. There are parts that I found quite boring and ridiculous, because of the difference in the way drama is handled, and there are parts that I liked. Let's focus on these without spoilers as much as possible and let's form your own opinion about the movie.

One of the happiest days a person can be is the day they get married. No one should have such a tragic life story that they have to face their past on that day and their happiness should not be taken away. The story of Tereza and Radim is presented to the audience through the marriage ceremony. The wedding and wedding ceremonies are handled in a mediocre manner and contain the most boring scenes of the movie.

I found the performances of the actors who give life to the couple Tereza and Radim quite low. The dialogues between the guests during the ceremony and the wedding were boring and ridiculous. But strangely, there were hints that something strange was going to happen as the movie progressed and you could feel the presence of mystery.

The mysterious stranger who shows up in such an atmosphere, and who invited him, suddenly brings the Líbánky movie up a notch, because I was getting really bored. I liked the way the mystery that was added to the story of the movie was removed. Just as it takes time for the details of a picture to slowly emerge in the fog, the mystery of the movie is removed very slowly. This makes the story interesting and triggers a sense of curiosity.

Jiri Cerny, who plays the character of Benda, the mysterious man, was adequate in terms of his acting performance. I liked the details of how the character, who had a repulsive appearance from the moment he appeared, suddenly became the protagonist of the drama. The actor's performance was excellent as he made the transition from repulsiveness to lovability. You can consider what I want to say as laughing while crying. She was very successful in staging opposite emotions one after the other and flawlessly.

I don't want to recommend watching Líbánky, it might be a good alternative for those who want to take a break from action, sci-fi and horror genres. However, I would like to warn you that the parts I found boring were in the first half hour of the movie. If you have the patience, watch it, otherwise forget it.
