Review of "The Boy and the Heron"
Yesterday I was able to see The Boy and the Heron, the last film by Miyazaki, director and co-founder of Studio Ghibli. The film that a year ago won the Oscar for best animated film, Miyazaki's comeback since almost a decade ago, and, also presumably his farewell film, ended up being a film as great as always expected, but beyond that, it is also an intimate film, a film that speaks more of how the director's mind is than how he seeks to communicate with the viewer, and that for me already makes it an incredible work, but The Boy and the Heron not only has that feature, but also a technical spectacularity worthy of being the best of the studio.

La película que hace un año ganó el Oscar a mejor película animada, el regreso de Miyazaki desde hace ya casi una década, y, también presuntamente su película de despedida, terminó siendo una película tan grande cómo siempre se esperó, pero más allá de eso, también es una película intima, una película que habla más de cómo está la mente del director que cómo busca comunicarse con el espectador, y eso para mí ya la hace una obra increíble, pero el niño y la garza no cuenta solamente con esa característica, sino también con una espectacularidad técnica digna de ser la mejor del estudio.
The film is difficult to explain and I honestly think I couldn't do it, I think I missed a thousand things to see and for that reason I feel that I will have to see it at least four more times. The Boy and the Heron is so full of colors that it is easy to get carried away by the beauty of the director's imagination, who is actually telling us a personal story about grief, melancholy, and knowing how to let go of things, something so precious that it cannot be I managed more than to cry when I saw such a beautiful story that, in addition, is so covered in layers that it works both as a film to enjoy and let yourself go, and as a catharsis and a farewell letter from its creator in what, for me, is his best film to date.
La película es difícil de explicar y sinceramente creo que no podría hacerlo, creo que me faltaron mil cosas por ver y por lo mismo siento que la tendré que ver al menos unas cuatro veces más. El niño y la garza está tan llena de colores que es fácil dejarse llevar por la belleza de la imaginación del director que en realidad nos está contando una historia personal sobre el duelo, la melancolía y el saber soltar las cosas, algo tan precioso que no logré más que caer en lagrima al ver una historia tan hermosa que, además, está tan cubierta en capas que funciona tanto cómo película para disfrutar y dejarse llevar, cómo una catarsis y una carta de despedida de su creador en lo que para mí, es su mejor película hasta la fecha.
You can tell that Mr. Miyazaki is getting old, and at some point in the film I was reminded of what he told his son when he made his film: don't put movies together with your real feelings. It reminded me of how ironic it all can be, as the boy and the heron feels so personal that it's normal to get carried away by those perfectly animated landscapes that the film has, thus taking you on a peaceful and beautiful journey that you might miss a couple of times if you don't pay attention to some details. That's not a bad thing at all, disconnecting your brain to watch such a beautiful movie is also a great pleasure, and that's what I feel I did at least in the first part of the movie, which is as beautiful as it is quiet, but for the same reason, it ends up being a little slow and not for everyone.
Se nota que el señor Miyazaki ya está viejo, y es que en algún punto de la película recordé lo que le dijo a su hijo cuándo hizo su película: no juntes las películas con tus sentimientos reales. Me recordó a lo irónico que puede ser todo, ya que el niño y la garza se siente tan personal que es normal que te dejes llevar por esos paisajes perfectamente animados que tiene la película, llevándote así a un viaje tranquilo y hermoso del que te puedes perder un par de veces si no prestas atención a algunos detalles. Eso no es algo malo en absoluto, desconectar el cerebro para ver una película tan hermosa también es un gran placer, y es lo que siento que hice por lo menos en la primera parte de la película, que es tan hermosa cómo tranquila, pero por lo mismo, termina siendo un poco lenta y no para cualquiera.
But the important thing is that the film is already on the internet, and although it really hurts me not to have seen it in theaters, I am so happy to have been able to see such a great film and, for some reason, feel that Miyazaki communicated with all the fans. that he has done over the years to give them a bittersweet farewell message, that works as much for us fans as it does for him, that he understands the whole world he has created and that it is time to look back, not with sadness, but with pride and joy, but also understanding that everything is about to end.
Pero lo importante es que ya la película está en internet, y aunque realmente me duele no haberla visto en cines, estoy tan feliz de poder haber visto una película tan grandiosa y que, por alguna razón, sentir que Miyazaki se comunicó con todos los fanáticos que ha hecho a lo largo de los años para darles un mensaje agridulce de despedida, que sirve tanto para nosotros los fanáticos cómo para él, que entiende todo el mundo que ha creado y que es hora de mirar atrás, no con tristeza, sino con orgullo y alegría, pero también entendiendo que todo está por terminar.

he tenido muchas ganas de ver esta película, nuevamente una película de anime en el foco de los medios mas allá del quienes nos gusta este estilo es algo fantástico. me parece unico que aunque han pasado tantos años y hasta décadas aun se mantenga el estilo tan especial que nos hace darnos cuenta a primera vista de quien es la película, como dices se ve que tiene diseños muy bellos
I've been looking forward to seeing this movie, again an anime movie in the media spotlight beyond those who like this style is fantastic. it seems unique to me that although so many years and even decades have passed, it still maintains the special style that makes us realize at first glance who the film is, as you say it has very beautiful designs.
Es increible como aunque pase el tiempo la mayoria de sus obras por no decir que todas, siguen siendo un pico en lo que animación se refiere, siempre que veo por ahí que estan pasando Chihiro o El Castillo Ambulante, honestamente, no me las pierdo.
