Oscars 2025: the day is here and this is my pool! | ¡llegó el día y esta es mi quiniela!
¿Quién ganará el Oscar a mejor película?
The day has arrived! The Academy Awards ceremony will take place tonight. Due to some technological setbacks I can hardly manage to publish this on time (my post from yesterday should have been uploaded on Thursday), but now that I have made the three publications commenting on my favorites for twenty categories (the links for those publications are at the end of this post) I am going to leave here a summary with my options as if it were a pool. The game is this: for each and every one of the categories I selected I chose two winner options. At five points for each category we have a total of 100 points and of them we are going to add 5 points for each correct answer of the first options and 3 points for each second option. That is to say, for example, if in Best Actor Adrian Brody wins, it would be 5 points, but if my second choice, Timothée Chalamet, wins, it would only be 3 points; with any other actor who wins, it would add zero (0) points. And so for the other categories. I have done it the same way in previous years and last year I achieved my highest personal best to date: 93 points (!), but this time I am not so clear, to be honest. I don't think I can match that score. Tomorrow, Monday night, I will be publishing my results and my impressions of the award ceremony.
¡Llegó el día! La ceremonia de entrega de los premios de la Academia se llevará a cabo esta noche. Por algunos contratiempos tecnológicos casi no puedo llegar a publicar esto a tiempo (mi post de ayer debió subirse el jueves), pero ya realizadas las tres publicaciones comentando mis favoritos para veinte categorías (los links para esas publicaciones están al final de este post) voy a dejar aquí un resumen con mis opciones como si se tratase de una quiniela. El juego es este: para todas y cada una de las categorías que seleccioné escogí dos opciones de ganador. A cinco puntos por cada categoría tenemos un total de 100 puntos y de ellos vamos a sumar 5 puntos por cada acierto de las primeras opciones y 3 puntos por cada segunda opción. Es decir, por ejemplo, si en Mejor Actor gana Adrian Brody, mi favorito, serían 5 puntos, pero si gana mi segunda opción, Timothée Chalamet, serían sólo 3 puntos; con cualquier otro actor que gane, sumaría cero (0) puntos. Y así para las demás categorías. Lo he hecho de la misma forma en años anteriores y el año pasado conseguí mi mayor marca personal hasta la fecha: 93 puntos (!), pero esta vez no lo tengo tan claro, la verdad. No creo igualar ese puntaje. Mañana lunes por la noche estaré publicando mis resultados y mis impresiones sobre la premiación.
I had to think and rethink some things and although there are categories in which I would have awarded more than one nominee, I applied a little logic, background in the Oscars, in previous awards galas, and thus I got to these options, which I consider the most likely to obtain the golden statuette, although in some cases my choices would have been different. Now, without further ado, this is my pool:
Tuve que pensar y repensar algunas cosas y aunque hay categorías en las que yo habría premiado a más de un nominado, apliqué un poco de lógica, de antecedentes en los Oscars, en las galas de premios previas, y así llegué a estas opciones, que considero las más probables de obtener la estatuilla dorada, aunque en algunos casos mis elecciones habrían sido otras. Ahora sí, sin más preámbulos, esta es mi quiniela:

2024 was a year of great films - although perhaps some previous years seemed a little better to me - and many of them have been recognized with these nominations, but who will be the winner tonight? Who will take home their first statuette? Do you think any film will sweep the ceremony? There are just a few hours left to find out, so I leave you to prepare for tonight's gala.
El 2024 fue un año de grandes películas - aunque quizás algunos años previos me parecieron un poco mejores - y muchas de ellas han sido reconocidas con estas nominaciones, pero ¿quién será la ganadora de esta noche? ¿quiénes se llevarán a casa su primera estatuilla? ¿crees que algún film arrasará en la ceremonia? Faltan apenas unas horas para saberlo, así que los dejo para prepararme para la gala de esta noche.
