Movie Review: Haunted Mansion (2023)

Haunted Mansion (also called The Haunted Mansion in many languages) is a 2023 American supernatural horror comedy film directed by Justin Simien from a screenplay by Katie Dippold. The film stars LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Dan Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jared Leto. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Rideback, it is the second theatrical film adaptation of Walt Disney's theme park attraction The Haunted Mansion, following the 2003 film of the same name. In the film, Gabbie (Dawson) and Travis (Chase W. Dillon) enlist the aid of a team (Stanfield, Haddish, Wilson, and DeVito) to help exorcise their mansion and destroy the ghosts around them.

• Dan Levy as Vic, an entertainment tour guide
• Charity Jordan as Alyssa, Ben's recently deceased wife

Good

• Casting was good and chemistry of all the human characters
• The feel and the eerieness of the movie is great
• Story is not the greatest but it has a decent amount of intrigue and plot
• special effects and the graphics are great and mimic some of the aesthetics of the Walt Disney Ride

Bad

• The comedy is a hit or a miss for me dry wit is not working with this film
• There is a slump in the middle of the movie then it get back in but you can feel the run time of 2hrs 3mins
• few camera angles are wonky at best.

Verdict:

Matinee.
