The Beautiful Game: The Beauty of Street Football [ENG/ESP]

I came across this movie and it caught my attention, so I decided to watch it without much delay, I confess that it brought me nostalgia as it made me remember moments of my childhood and youth when I played street football with my friends, an indescribable feeling that only those who once played in the streets will understand. The beautiful game is a film based on real events, which makes it inspiring and motivational, however its context is very different from what we know in the West as street football.

The story takes place in England, the birthplace of football, and focuses on an international micro soccer competition, but it is not a normal competition as we are used to seeing, but a competition that has a specific purpose: to rescue homeless people from the streets through sport.

Is it possible? Of course it is, and that is the most inspiring part of the story, to see how sport transforms people's lives is something very special, it also allows us to be a little more objective when judging someone else, because we do not know the circumstances behind an appearance.

Street Football

This is the name of the competition and its title definitely fits perfectly, because the only rule is that the team members are people who are homeless, and the emphasis of the competition as I said before is to get them off the streets. It is definitely not something I expected, in fact, I did not even know that it is an official competition and it was founded in 2001, which called my attention even more.

The story reflected in the film shows only some of the realities that these people live, but each one of them is an example of overcoming, although there are those who stay in the process or delay it, most of them manage to get ahead and restore their lives.

Our protagonist is known as Vinny, a prospect who was in the West Ham United youth team since he was a child but ultimately failed to become a professional, a blow that led him to the streets and to abandon his wife and daughter because of the pain he felt. That is where his life begins to change, and at this point I want to reflect a little as our human pride sometimes leads us to hit rock bottom for a real change in our lives, put that way, the pain can serve for something better despite its negative connotation.

I think that is one of the main emphases of the production, to make us meditate on Vinny's life and how it can be similar to ours even when we are not on the streets. The rest of the characters even though they were in a totally different situation were "the tools" so to speak for Vinny to change, but the process that happens for that is another story, and it is very worthy to see how it unfolded in this film.

It is a very dramatic story, in fact it is impossible to make a film of such style without drama in the middle, that's why I also liked it a lot. I have to highlight the decision making of the coach, there are several occasions where one of his players did improper things due to his vice and he knew how to solve them in a very particular way, understanding the condition of each of his selected players, which led him to the fulfillment of the objective and not to the sinking of the person in question.

It is definitely a movie worth watching, even though it lasts 2 hours the time goes by very fast due to the depth of the plot, although it does not have a famous cast each of the actors and actresses played their characters very well, and that is enough to have a good production. Finally and to conclude, I hope you can see it, it is simple in one sense and very deep in another, it shows a reality that many of us do not live but perhaps some of our acquaintances or loved ones can live it. It is exciting and beautiful to see how sport can be used in a way that benefits the lives of those who need a helping hand to get ahead.

El Juego Bonito: La belleza del fútbol callejero

Me topé con esta película y llamo mi atención, así que decidí verla sin mucha dilación, confieso que me trajo nostalgia ya que me hizo recordar momentos de mi infancia y juventud cuando jugaba futbol callejero con mis amigos, una sensación indescriptible que solo aquellos que una vez jugaron en las calles podrán entender. El juego bonito es una película basada en hechos reales, lo cual la hace inspiradora y motivacional, sin embargo su contexto es muy diferente a lo que conocemos en el occidente como futbol callejero.

La historia se desarrolla en Inglaterra, la cuna del futbol, y se enfoca en una competencia internacional de micro futbol, pero no es una competencia normal como estamos acostumbrados de ver, sino una competencia que tiene un fin específico: rescatar a los indigentes de las calles a través del deporte.

¿Es posible? Por supuesto que lo es, y esa es la parte más inspiradora de la historia, ver como el deporte transforma la vida de las personas es algo muy especial, además nos permite ser un poco más objetivos al momento de juzgar a alguien más, pues no sabemos las circunstancias detrás de una apariencia.

Futbol callejero

Este es el nombre de la competición y su título definitivamente le queda a la perfección, pues la única regla es que los miembros del equipo sean personas que están en la indigencia, y el énfasis de la misma como indique anteriormente es sacarlos de las calles. Definitivamente no es algo que me esperaba, es más, ni siquiera sabía que es una competencia oficial y fue fundada en el año 2001, lo cual llamo más mi atención.

La historia reflejada en la película muestra solo algunas de las realidades que viven estas personas, pero cada una de ellas es un ejemplo de superación, aunque hay quienes se quedan en el proceso o lo retrasan la mayoría logra salir adelante y restaurar su vida.

Nuestro protagonista es conocido como Vinny, un prospecto que estuvo en las inferiores del West Ham United desde pequeño pero que al final no logro convertirse en profesional, un golpe que lo llevo a las calles y a abandonar a su esposa e hija por el dolor que sentía. Allí es donde su vida comienza a cambiar, y en este punto quiero reflexionar un poco ya que nuestro orgullo humano nos lleva a veces a tocar fondo para que se produzca un verdadero cambio en nuestras vidas, dicho de ese modo, el dolor puede servir para algo mejor a pesar de su connotación negativa.

Considero que es uno de los énfasis principales de la producción, hacernos meditar en la vida de Vinny y como esta se puede asemejar a las nuestras aun cuando no estemos en las calles. El resto de los personajes aunque se encontraban en una situación totalmente distinta fueron “las herramientas” por decirlo de alguna manera para que Vinny cambiara, pero el proceso que ocurre para eso es otra historia, y es muy digno de ver como se desarrolló en esta película.

Es una historia muy dramática, de hecho es imposible realizar un film de tal estilo sin que haya drama de por medio, por eso también me gusto bastante. He de resaltar la toma de decisiones de parte del entrenador, hay varias ocasiones donde uno de sus jugadores hizo cosas indebidas debido a su vicio y supo resolverlas de una forma muy particular, entendiendo la condición de cada uno de sus seleccionados, lo cual lo llevo al cumplimiento del objetivo y no al hundimiento de la persona en cuestión.

Definitivamente es una película que vale la pena observar, a pesar de que dura 2 horas el tiempo se pasa muy rápido debido a la profundidad de la trama, si bien no tiene un elenco famoso cada uno de los actores y actrices interpretaron muy bien su personaje, y eso es suficiente para tener una buena producción. Por último y para concluir, espero puedas verla, es simple en un sentido y muy profunda en otro, muestra una realidad que muchos no vivimos pero quizás algunos de nuestros conocidos o seres queridos la puedan vivir. Es emocionante y hermoso ver como el deporte se puede utilizar de una forma que beneficia las vidas de aquellos que necesitan una mano amiga para poder salir adelante.
