David Beckham shows us the power of his father's influence in his career [ENG/ESP]

Today David Beckham is still the best midfielder that England has had in its history, although many excellent players have passed through those ranks, none had the ability of Beckham, but watching his documentary it is incredible how his father influenced him, practically the success in his career is due to his father and he himself recognizes it.

A strong message to combat the "respectful upbringing" that we want to sell today, whoever sees this documentary will see how Beckham's father trained him and demanded him to the limit, so much so that there was a slight division in his home, his mother tells David did not agree with the demands of his father, but he knew what he was doing, he shaped a character that years later would bear excellent fruit.

I love this kind of documentaries because they make us meditate, first of all they show us an unknown perspective of a famous character, an idol in our times, I remember when I played soccer with my friends and I made a good cross or pass to a teammate I always said "like Beckham", even though in Italy -my favorite national team- there were also excellent players but the influence of the "spice boy" was quite noticeable.

Hoy por hoy David Beckham sigue siendo el mejor mediocampista que Inglaterra ha tenido en su historia, a pesar de por esas filas han pasado muchos excelentes jugadores, ninguno tuvo la capacidad de Beckham, pero viendo su documental es increíble como su padre influyo en él, prácticamente el éxito en su carrera se lo debe a su padre y el mismo lo reconoce.

Un mensaje fuerte para combatir la “crianza respetuosa” que se nos quiere vender hoy, quien vea este documental podrá ver como el padre de Beckham lo entreno y le exigió hasta el límite, tanto así que había una ligera división en su hogar, su madre cuenta David no estaba de acuerdo con las exigencias de su padre, pero este sabía lo que hacía, plasmo un carácter que años después daría excelentes frutos.

Me encantan este tipo de documentales porque nos hacen meditar, primeramente se nos muestra una perspectiva desconocida de un personaje famoso, un ídolo en nuestros tiempos, recuerdo que cuando jugaba al futbol con mis amigos y hacia un buen centro o pase a un compañero siempre decía “como Beckham”, a pesar de que en Italia –mi selección favorita- también habían excelentes jugadores pero la influencia del “spice boy” se notaba bastante.

It is a documentary that is at the level of "The last dance", it is worth watching it for the teachings that are in it, although this focuses on Beckham's career it is nice to see legendary players participate in it and give their opinion. I love how values are exalted and how good parenting can be appreciated. It's not blind fanaticism for a player but shows some pretty obscure and intimate moments in his career.

I remember how shocking that red card in the France World Cup was for Beckham against Argentina, but I didn't know the wave of hatred that genre in the English fans, obviously one had an idea from the press of what was going on but here you are seeing it first hand, and that is appreciated. The first two episodes focus on David's early career but then the incidents after England's elimination in the World Cup and how he managed to "overcome" this tough stage in his career.

I say "overcome" in quotation marks because David himself comments that to this day, he still complains about the kick he threw at Simeone for which he was sent off. It is impressive how soccer was lived at that time, the golden era of the sport is definitely in the 90s. Thank God I was able to enjoy it.

Es un documental que está al nivel de “The last dance”, vale la pena verlo por las enseñanzas que hay en él, aunque este se centra en la carrera de Beckham es agradable ver a jugadores leyenda participar en él y opinar. Me encanta como se exaltan los valores y como se puede apreciar la buena crianza. No es un fanatismo ciego por un jugador sino que muestra momentos bastante oscuros e íntimos de su carrera.

Recuerdo lo impactante que fue esa roja en el mundial de Francia para Beckham ante Argentina, pero no sabía la ola de odio que género en los aficionados ingleses, evidentemente uno tenía idea por la prensa de lo que estaba pasando pero aquí lo estás viendo de primera mano, y eso se agradece. Los dos primeros episodios se centran en los inicios de carrera de David pero luego los incidentes después de la eliminación de Inglaterra en el mundial y como logro “superar” esta etapa tan dura en su carrera.

Digo superar entre comillas porque el mismo David comenta que al día de hoy todavía se recrimina esa patada que lanzo a Simeone por la cual lo expulsaron. Es impresionante como se vivía el futbol en aquella época, la era dorada del deporte es definitivamente en los años 90. Gracias a Dios que pude disfrutarla.

I have yet to see the last few episodes, but these I have seen have pleased me a lot and show us the other side of the coin, not everything is good in the lives of celebrities, in last dance one can see dark moments in Jordan's career and in this one of Beckham we see the same with him, however both highlight the paternal influence, for Jordan his father was a bulwark and for David the same, he even comments that he was not calm in the Champions League final against Bayern until he saw his father in the stands, the same thing happened when they eliminated England, his father was his support and the one who gave him the strength to overcome the post-elimination events.

I don't want to be repetitive, but how important and fundamental is the influence of a father in his son, this is the most outstanding point of this documentary, and as a father I think it is an excellent message. In a way I felt identified because when I help my daughter with volleyball I am usually strict but I know that this will give good results in time, the same with my son in his discipline.

Finally and to conclude, I hope Netflix continues to create these series that lead us to reflection and delight. Retired star players there are many, it is always good to know about their lives, career, etc., because that ultimately is an excellent message for today's society, perhaps it can help young people who dream of being professionals in "x" sport, as it shows them a different and real perspective of life, not everything is simple and in this series we are given a glimpse of the reality that encompasses achieving success.

Me falta ver los últimos episodios, pero estos que he visto me han gustado mucho y nos muestra la otra cara de la moneda, no todo es bueno en la vida de los famosos, en last dance uno puede ver momentos oscuros en la carrera de Jordán y en este de Beckham vemos lo mismo con él, sin embargo ambos resaltan en la influencia paterna, para Jordán su padre era un baluarte y para David igual, incluso comenta que no estuvo tranquilo en la final de Champions ante el Bayern hasta que vio a su padre en la tribuna, lo mismo paso cuando eliminaron a Inglaterra, su padre fue su apoyo y el que le dio las fuerzas para superar los eventos post-eliminación.

No quiero ser repetitivo, pero que importante y fundamental es la influencia de un padre en su hijo, este es el punto más resaltante de este documental, y como padre pienso que es un excelente mensaje. En cierto modo me sentí identificado porque a mi hija cuando la ayudo con el voleibol suelo ser estricto pero sé que eso dará buenos resultados en su tiempo, lo mismo con mi hijo en su disciplina.

Por último y para concluir, espero que Netflix siga creando estas series que nos llevan a la reflexión y al deleite. Jugadores estrellas retirados hay muchos, siempre es bueno conocer de sus vidas, de su carrera, etc., porque eso en definitiva es un excelente mensaje para la sociedad actual, quizás pueda ayudar a los jóvenes que sueñan con ser profesionales en “x” deporte, ya que les muestra una perspectiva diferente y real de la vida, no todo es sencillo y en esta serie se nos da una pizca de la realidad que engloba conseguir el éxito.
