Agent Night: A series that I recommend with my eyes closed [ENG/ESP]

I'm not a big fan of series, I'm more of a movie watcher, however there are a few series that catch my attention, most of them about war conflicts and all that line of argument, so when I noticed Night Agent I wrote it down to watch it later. I must say that I had to have seen it long before because it is extremely good, so much so that it was hard for me to detach myself from the screen once I started watching it.

The series consists of 10 chapters that last about an hour each, and focus on the White House, the place of the Presidents in the United States of America. Its main context is based on an assassination attempt that takes place in the first episode but triggers a series of subsequent investigations and events that intertwine to put together a well-developed and entertaining scenario.

As a viewer this is something I appreciate, I don't like to waste my time with productions that in the end are not worth watching. In Night Agent this does not happen because of the good job the producers did, each chapter is presented as an enigma about to be solved but it is not achieved until the last episode where you already have the denouement.

No soy muy fan de las series, soy más de ver películas, sin embargo hay una que otra serie que llaman mi atención, la mayoría referentes a conflictos bélicos y toda esa línea argumentativa, por lo que al percatarme de Agente nocturno la anote para verla después. Debo decir que tuve que haberla visto mucho antes porque es sumamente buena, tanto así que me costó despegarme de la pantalla una vez la comencé a ver.

La serie consta de 10 capítulos que duran alrededor de una hora cada uno, y se centran en la Casa Blanca, el lugar de los Presidentes en los Estados Unidos de América. Su contexto principal se basa en un atentado que tiene lugar en el primer episodio pero que desencadena una serie de investigaciones y eventos posteriores que se entrelazan para armar un escenario bien desarrollado y entretenido.

Como espectador es algo que agradezco, no me gusta perder el tiempo con producciones que al final no valen la pena observar. En agente nocturno no sucede esto por el buen trabajo que hicieron los productores, cada capítulo se presenta como un enigma a punto de resolverse pero no se logra sino hasta el último episodio donde ya se tiene el desenlace.

You can be a hero / Tu puedes ser un héroe

Peter Sutherland is an FBI agent, but his life changes once he intervenes in the bombing that takes place in the city subway. His heroic action to stop the car and save many people end up making him a suspect in the same, however he is "rescued" by the right hand of the President of the United States who places him to work in an office in the White House.

Far from being a risky job, he spends all night in a basement analyzing reports and helping night agents who have a secret emergency line. For a long time he works there without anything extraordinary until he receives a call that makes him leave his comfort zone and leads him to get involved in the front line, a place where he will have to risk his life to fulfill the mission entrusted to him.

Peter's profile is interesting, he is a responsible and morally correct young man, he puts the lives of others before his own, which makes him easily trustworthy and loyal. This beyond being a great virtue is the only thing that allows him to survive until the end. The only problem is that most around him are not like this.

Peter Sutherland es agente del FBI, pero su vida cambia una vez interviene en el atentado que tiene lugar en el metro de la ciudad. Su acción heroica al detener el vagón y salvar a muchas personas terminan convirtiéndolo en un sospechoso del mismo, sin embargo es “rescatado” por la mano derecha de la Presidenta de los Estados Unidos quien lo coloca a trabajar en un despacho en la Casa Blanca.

Lejos de ser un trabajo riesgoso, pasa toda la noche en un sótano analizando informes y ayudando a agentes nocturnos que tienen una línea secreta de emergencia. Por mucho tiempo trabajo allí sin nada extraordinario hasta que recibe una llamada que lo hace salir de su zona de confort y lo lleva a involucrarse en la primera fila, lugar donde tendrá que arriesgar su vida para cumplir la misión encomendada.

El perfil de Peter es interesante, es un joven responsable y moralmente correcto, antepone la vida de los demás a la suya, lo que lo hace fácilmente confiable y leal. Esto más allá de ser una gran virtud es lo único que le permite sobrevivir hasta el final. El único problema es que la mayoría a su alrededor no es así.

When he realizes that he must protect the civilian Rose Larkin he begins to see the White House with different eyes, this for the amount of things that happen to him in the process. Peter in the background struggles with the death of his father who was also an FBI agent, but was blamed for treason, in that sense one of the purposes he has is to discover the truth about his father and clear his name if that were the case.

The most interesting point of this whole series is the intrigue, and I must applaud its author Shawn Ryan because he did an impeccable job, faithful to what we are used to. One of the things that caught my attention is how in each chapter there is a flashback of the characters, that is key because it allows us as viewers to link the threads and thus be able to give with the hidden of the series, although I must admit that I could not solve the riddle, it was very well woven until the end.

Cuando se da cuenta que debe proteger a la civil Rose Larkin comienza a ver la Casa Blanca con ojos diferentes, esto por la cantidad de cosas que le ocurren en el proceso. Peter en el fondo lucha con la muerte de su padre que también fue un agente del FBI, pero fue culpado de traición, en ese sentido uno de los propósitos que tiene es descubrir la verdad sobre su padre y limpiar su nombre si ese fuere el caso.

El punto más interesante de toda esta serie es la intriga, y debo aplaudir a su autor Shawn Ryan porque hizo un trabajo impecable, fiel a los que nos tiene acostumbrados. Una de las cosas que me llamo la atención es como en cada capítulo se hace un flashback de los personajes, eso es clave porque nos permite como televidentes enlazar los hilos y así poder dar con lo oculto de la serie, aunque debo admitir que no pude resolver el enigma, fue muy bien entretejido hasta el final.

Final thoughts / Pensamientos finales

Watching 10 chapters of the same thing is not easy, it's like watching a long movie without an ending, that's why I don't like series, but the feeling that Night Agent gives us is very different because as you are watching it you fight with two streams of thought, and this is due to the good thing about the series. One thought is that it ends soon to know for sure everything that happens and the second thought is that it is not over yet, has this happened to you with any series? It happens to me with few and this is one of them.

Each of the actors executed their role to perfection, and although I could stay with Gabriel Basso who played our protagonist I will stay with the performance of the Thai actress Hong Chau, who was the interpreter of Diane Farr, the right hand of the president. I must say that it was masterful, the execution of the dialogues and the expressions in each of them very well executed.

Finally and to conclude, it is just as I indicated in the title of the post, I recommend it to closed eyes, but yes, you must see it with the original dialogues, zero dubbing, that way you can appreciate the quality of each scene in its entirety.

Ver 10 capítulos de lo mismo no es sencillo, es como ver una película larga sin final, por eso poco me gustan las series, pero la sensación que nos da Agente nocturno es muy diferente porque a medida que se va viendo uno lucha con dos corrientes de pensamiento, y esto se debe a lo bueno de la serie. Un pensamiento es que termine pronto para saber a ciencia cierta todo lo que ocurre y el segundo pensamiento es que no termine todavía, ¿te ha pasado esto con alguna serie? A mí me pasa con pocas y esta es una de ellas.

Cada uno de los actores ejecuto su papel a la perfección, y aunque pudiera quedarme con Gabriel Basso que interpreto a nuestro protagonista me quedare con la actuación de la actriz tailandesa Hong Chau, quien fue la intérprete de Diane Farr, la mano derecha de la presidenta. Debo decir que fue magistral, la ejecución de los diálogos y las expresiones en cada uno de ellos muy bien ejecutada.

Por último y para concluir, es tal cual como lo indique en el título del post, la recomiendo a ojos cerrados, pero eso sí, debes verla con los diálogos originales, cero doblajes, de esa forma podrás apreciar la calidad de cada escena en su totalidad.
