The Matrix

Ah, man. I so have to watch this again. Whenever I write something about a film I usually check out some clips and a trailer to see if I remember it well enough to make a review. This one I do but when I watched the film I really had zero idea what the hell it was talking about. I had to watch this film at least 3-5 times to really understand what it was talking about, the baseline of the story and how it draws parallels with life today.

I can see it now though. I'm much older, I've been around a bit, and I know a thing or two. Back then I was still young and had only been living on my own for about 2-3 years. I didn't really understand how the world works. But then I'm unsure if my parents knew either. I assume my dad did though, he was upper tier tax and was always paying through the nose. He hated the system.

It's weird though, after watching the trailer I fully understand everything they talk about, from the world pulling the wool over my eyes to most of it being the Matrix. It's why you often hear Andrew Tate refer to the world as the matrix because he's had Mr Smith after him quite a bit.

But enough about the real world we're going to talk about this film.

As a young boy approaching my early 20's this film was a good action film. I mean on the surface it was a damn good film. It had all the things a good sci fi movie of that era should have -- the concept of time travel, illusionary worlds, mystery, future technology. It was quite the mixed bag. And the world was a bit cyberpunky -- which is what we regularly saw in the era this film was made.

We start off our story with Neo. He's never quite felt like he belongs to this world, that something out there is a bit "off" or something isn't right. He's a computer hacker and has spent most of his adult life trying to search for this elusive hacker god called Morpheous.

By day Neo is a normal guy working away hard in a regular business in his little cubicle but by night he scours the internet trying to find this elusive hacker that may have the answers he seeks.

Finally, out of the blue Morpheus contacts Neo and sets up a meet with him. But, before anything can happen, what look to be men in black seize him and take him off to an undisclosed location, and question him about his connection with Morpheus. Where is he? Who is he? And so on.

Then a little while later he wakes up in his bed. Of course it was all a dream. The things he witnessed in that room with the agents were weird as hell. Breathing a sigh of relief, Neo then goes in to work, takes his neighbours trash out, and all is well and sound..

.. or so he thinks.

One of the most iconic films of the 20th century by far. So much deeper layers of what they were talking about. There has been nothing like this since, exposing the system for how corrupt and scandalous it is.

A must watch!
