TV Show recommendation

As you may have noticed, it's been a while since I wrote something on the CineTV account but today I'm going to slowly get back into the routine of writing again and starting with a hot tv show recommendation from my side. Remember when I told you a while ago that there are so many great Dutch productions?

Undercover was one of them, a crime TV show with Ferry Bouman (Played by Frank Lammers), who ended up having several seasons of this show due to great success and a movie called Ferry in 2021. A few days ago, Netflix released "Ferry: the series" which I totally forgot was coming. Now I don't mind being surprised like this because while in the middle of a move, it was great to find something on Netflix so I could just hit play and enjoy the ride.

How it all started

To follow the story, I'd recommend you to watch it in the order of being released so I'm going to create a little list below to make it easier for you to find all parts of this story. If you don't mind things not being in chronological order fully, you can also just check out things in another order but I promise you, once you watched the first show, you will probably get sucked in to watch the rest. That is if you like a good crime story from Dutch production.

Undercover, TV Show

Ferry Bouman's story all started about four years ago, when the TV show "Undercover" was released on Netflix.

Ferry is a guy living on a campsite and is named to be the biggest ecstasy producer in the area. Two undercover cops, a Dutch female and a Belgium male, are set up on the campsite to build a case against Ferry. Little did they know that friendships were going to be build while doing so. I don't want to spoil anything from the story but let's say the undercover couple gets sucked into a world of drugs and other crimes while trying to not lose their cover along the way. How it ends? You have to check it yourself.

If you're still hungry for more crime, there's a second season of Undercover:

Although this season is not focussed on Ferry Bouman, the two undercover agents and the rest of the cast will make sure you stay in the same vibe as during season 1. But if you're more into the Ferry vibe, you can continue watching the next movie instead.

Ferry (2021) The Movie

The movie Ferry is the prequel of the Undercover series as it's showing you how Ferry Bouman became the biggest ecstasy producer and how he met Danielle, his partner you already saw in Undercover season 1. You can see how Ferry lives a double life when he meets Danielle, as he surely isn't going to share his true whereabouts this quickly with someone he adores.

A sequel to the movie Ferry was made, Ferry: the series

Due to huge success, fans of Frank Lammers couldn't get enough of the Ferry Bouman story, a sequel to Undercover the tv show is now being released on Netflix. We can now watch the story of Ferry after the things that went down in the Undercover tv show season one. It's a bit confusing maybe but you will see it all makes sense as soon as you start watching.

In short, Ferry knows a motor gang's regular ecstasy producer will not be able to deliver due to being locked up. He takes advantage of this situation and decides to be bold to get a deal with them. One million pills for one million euros. The question is, can he deliver? As per every good crime story, challenges arise and the outcome is still uncertain to me as I have a few more episodes to go. But even if I knew, I'd not spoil it for you!

Foreign show worth watching

If you're up to watch a bit of foreign crime (Netflix has subs after all), and love this type of tv show, I'd highly recommend you watching it. I love how some of the characters from Penoza also appear in this show, they sure have a certain type to play in movies and tv shows but it suits them well. They've become notorious for their roles in Penoza and most fans love seeing them back in other similar tv shows. It's been a while since any show could come close to the Penoza series though, Undercover was (in my opinion) the first new Dutch show that had a good story line and actors in it.

One must not underestimate the power of Dutch tv productions, especially not in this genre, seeing how Holland has become famous for the real life underground drug production over the years. These type of shows are probably made well because the Dutch productions can find out from up close what goes on in this world to make sure it looks like a true storyline.

Enjoy Ferry and his endeavours, see you next time!

We haven't seen the undercover shows, nor did we see the movie, but we started to watch Ferry the Series yesterday evening. About 3 weeks ago we switched from HBO Max to Netflix. And as Dutchies we do enjoy a bit of Dutch crime, especially since it's Brabants. But thanks for the recommendation of the movie and the undercover shows ... I guess we just have no other choice, and have to watch those too.

Yes, I was waiting for your response as I remembered you switched to Netflix. As the whole story is not in chronological order anyway, you can easily mix up the prequel with the sequel and vice versa.

Although the second season of Undercover is about another criminal, it's still worth watching. But if you like the Ferry story, I'd recommend first watching all of these and add season 2 of undercover afterwards.

Enjoy :)

Well, thanks ... I just discussed it and tonight we're going to switch to first watch Undercover, and for Friday night we're now planning to watch the movie, and then next week ... we'll finish the series. That's a week of TV planned ahead. Not my usual thing. Lol 😁
