Hello and welcome to the 12TH edition of Cine TV Community Spotlight. The Cine TV Spotlight Series has begun in a bid to boost engagement and interaction in the community and showcase the work of deserving authors.

And it’s all simple. At the end of every week, we spotlight works by authors based on the content, originality, style, and word count. It is not a contest but just our way of creating exposure for the works we enjoyed throughout the week and boosting exceptionally written content by our authors. Simply put, give it your best and have fun while at it, and then we showcase your work here.

So, in no particular order, here are the authors spotlighted for this week:

Title: Dahmer

There are a lot of things to be discussed in this movie, I don't even know where to start. Was he deranged? Of course, he was, he had to be, but he was still found sane and perfectly normal. He was also smart to an extent. He moved to a predominantly black neighbourhood. During that time there was a lot of racism and the police didn't care too much about what happened to blacks and they would wave it off. He claims he didn't have that in mind, but the fact that his only two victims (at least that we know of) who are white were killed by "accident".

Title: Plot Flaw In Hitman 2024

Hit man.jpg

Like me, I'm sure most people were already guessing what the trouble in paradise might eventually be. The common guess has to be that one or more of the people arrested would come back for the fake hitman and that's where the story would kick off. Or something of the sort that mainly has to do with this policeman's act coming back to bite him in the behind. But none of that was the case. Instead, the conflict turned out to be a quite intriguing romance story that was very relatable and entertaining in a very unexpected and suspenseful way.

Title: Heists at Christmas

Heists at Christmas.jpg

At first, I found it odd that this gang methodically planned to steal the residents' packages. I mean, it's Christmas. Why not be nice rather than be grouchy? Instead the thieves are more interested in filling their pockets with money, regardless of the season. “It pays more than delivering pizza,” one of them said. I admire how the three detectives—Marcos, Jack and Sally—put their heads together, using old-fashioned methods of solving crime (rather than rely on tech) to find these slippery thieves.

Title: Dune: The Prophecy and the Messiah

The talented casts also delivered strong and intense performances across the board. One of the reasons why I still carried on with this series even when it felt like I was making a bad decision was because of Zendaya (who played the role of Chani–one of the Fremen leaders). Before now, I hadn't really seen any movie that Zendaya featured in and I just wanted to do so, hence the consistency. All I can say is that I'm glad my perseverance wasn't in vain.

Title: It Ends With Us

It ends with us.jpg

I do not like messy love stories. And this, was one. The whole Lily, Ryle and Atlas (her childhood love) thing was too complicated for my liking. Lily and Atlas's love could have been simpler and beautiful under better circumstances. Lily and Ryle could have been better as well. This made me tired somewhat because it actually was one reason I didn't like the book. The fact that it tried to touch on the theme of domestic violence but it was swept under the rug with the messy love stories made me dislike it.

Title: Love Kennedy

Love kennedy.png

One thing that has been introduced in our movies is kissing. I am not saying people shouldn’t kiss in movies but sometimes you don’t even know why people are kissing in a movie? In this movie I can’t remember a single scene of people kissing yet there were ways of display affection without kissing. I say this cause I am in total disagreement of the kind of scenes which are in the air for children to see.

Title: The Voice of Modern Cinema...

Voice.png

Basically, it's like watching old movies get a kind of disguised "remake." The problem isn't using old references in modern movies, but rather not respecting the boundaries between inspirations and excessive use. This reinforces my thoughts about the fact that modern cinema still hasn't managed to find its own voice, because apparently, there's still a lot of "demand" related to everything that (in some way) has already been done before.

Title: Battle: Los Angeles

Battle.jpg

Let's start by talking about the story they try to tell us in this movie, a story that seems to revolve more around Sergeant Nantz than the invasion itself. With what I told you above, we have in mind that our experienced protagonist is a person who does not feel quite right after what the war has done to him, the decision making he has done and the horrible events he has lived through in it.

And there you have it! Congratulations to all those spotlighted this week. We look forward to more exceptional content. And to everyone posting in the community, we look forward to seeing more of you around.
