The Actor I Dreamed to Become

Drama is a life-renewing genre of literature. Watching a drama can change one's life. Though I am not an Art student, I know many features of the drama because I was once a theater kid. I love drama more than the other segments (genres) of literature. I love acting so much.

There are so many theaters in my town. This is because of the rise in the number of successful comedians. In my town particularly, we have popular comedians such as TY, Bubuman and the rest. I love these comedians and I wish to be like them.

Before the coming of those comedians, I can't remember having any drama separately called comedy. Most of the funny actions that could have been segmented to make a separate comedy show were put together into the movies. I am talking about the 80s shows. The movies locally produced in my town around the 80s were comedy and tragedy combined. I wasn't born then, but I had the opportunity to borrow some of the disks from my friends' parents.

Some of the 80s shows aired then are Things Fall Apart(Drama), Cry of Freedom (Drama), Taxi Driver(Drama) and lots more. These were life-changing, inspiring and funny movies of that time. After I was exposed to these actors' performances, I developed the urge to learn acting. I was just five then.

My mother, knowing how serious I was to upgrade my acting skills decided to free me from some house chores to do whatever I loved. I never missed any drama rehearsals held in our Church. I was often used as a baby boy in all the drama we acted in Church. One fateful day that Christmas was celebrated on Sunday, my crew and I acted and I was representing Christ. The drama was amazing and we were very lucky that day, the director of one of the best-selling movies then was present. After the performance, the director called us( the drama crew) and promised to train us to become excellent and popular actors and actresses.

This was how I became a theater kid. We were given several scripts of drama to act in to sort us and select the best. During this audition period, we spent many hours of our day practicing in the theater to be among the chosen ones. I was very lucky to be chosen. My mother supported me but my Dad was against the idea of me becoming an actor. When the Statement of Agreement was brought to my parents to sign so that I would leave my home and board in the training school, my Dad refused to sign and this was where the whole dream and talent died.
Now i have grown, I only visit theaters to watch others act.

I hated my Dad for his actions but later I realized he had a bigger dream for me. I have forgiven him and promised myself to tell this story to my children too.

Thanks for visiting my post and I hope you have enjoyed reading through it. Love you all😍😍😍🤗🤗.
