Love or hate: Poor Things| My honest opinion of the movie that revolutionized opinions [ESP/ING]

Una de las películas más controversiales del 2023, aunque en Latinoamérica se estrenó en 2024, rápidamente se conviritió en la más comentada en redes sociales, entonces yo no podía quedarme sin ver esta película... Cuando la ví dije: no es para todo mundo, pero, necesito expresar mi opinión sobre ella y eso precisamente es lo que haremos con este post.
Poor Things cuenta la historia de Bella Baxter una extraña mujer, que fue "creada" por el Dr. Godwin, su actitud se irá moldeando mientras la trama avanza, en esta cinta conocemos su viaje hacia la libertad y el descubrimiento de un mundo que desconoce. Bella aprenderá del mundo y de nuestra sociedad.
One of the most controversial movies of 2023, although in Latin America it was released in 2024, it quickly became the most talked about in social networks, so I could not stay without seeing this movie... When I saw it I said: it's not for everyone, but, I need to express my opinion about it and that's precisely what we will do with this post.
Poor Things tells the story of Bella Baxter a strange woman, who was "created" by Dr. Godwin, her attitude will be molded as the plot progresses, in this film we know her journey to freedom and the discovery of a world unknown to her. Bella will learn about the world and our society.
Solo puedo decir: en gustos se rompen género, y no me juzguen, pero, personalmente no me gustó la película... LA AMÉ, para mí la mejor película que he vistos en mucho mucho tiempo (con todo y que amé Oppenheimer). Esta historia nos cuenta un nuevo mundo de la mano de Bella Baxter, como sus primeras palabras y reflexiones. Acá vemos una transformación increíble sobre la irracionalidad y posteriormente la inteligencia.
La trama de Poor Things cuestiona al personaje, y nos cuestiona como seres humanos, constantemente hay cuestionamiento sobre la moralidad y la libertad de ser en un mundo lleno de tabús y reglas. Lo más interesante de esta película es que no buscar dar discursos o reflexiones sobre algunos temas, con distintas narrativas logra tocar temas que dañan a nuestra sociedad como la pobreza, el machismo y los juicios sobre los comportamientos de otros.
¿Por qué nos cuestiona la trama de esta película? Porque precisamente con su estética unica y con diversas escenas nos crean incomodidad, y esa incomodidad solo denota de nuestros juicios sobre lo que esta moralmente correcto, y sobre cómo esperamos que el cine sea perfecto, pulcro y correcto... Y no estoy de acuerdo, porque el arte debería cuestionarnos, y sacarnos de nuestra zona de confort.
I can only say: tastes are different, and don't judge me, but, personally I didn't like the movie... I LOVED it, for me the best movie I've seen in a long, long time (even though I loved Oppenheimer). This story tells us a new world from the hand of Bella Baxter, as her first words and reflections. Here we see an incredible transformation about irrationality and later intelligence.
The plot of Poor Things questions the character, and questions us as human beings, there is constantly questioning about morality and freedom of being in a world full of taboos and rules. The most interesting thing about this film is that it does not seek to give speeches or reflections on some topics, with different narratives it manages to touch on issues that harm our society such as poverty, sexism and judgments on the behavior of others.
Why does the plot of this film question us? Because precisely with its unique aesthetics and diverse scenes it creates discomfort, and that discomfort only denotes our judgments about what is morally correct, and how we expect cinema to be perfect, neat and correct? And I don't agree, because art should question us, and take us out of our comfort zone.
Aún estando enamorada de esta producción, puedo admitir que no es una película para todo mundo, por ejemplo, yo le recomendé esta película a una amiga y ella: LA ODIO... Ese es el mejor ejemplo que les puedo dar. Esta película tiene muchas escenas de sexo, y la gente la invalida mucho por eso, yo siento que, están completamente justificadas, porque así como la moralidad es pilar de esta trama, también lo es la sexualidad.
No quiero hacer spoilers, pero, hay una escena que todo el mundo critica, pero, para mí es un reflejo de nuestra bizarra sociedad, un acto lamentable que todo el mundo hace eso. Dicho esto, podemos hablar de la producción y la fotografía que para mí, es MAGIA MAGIA MAGIA, al principio es a blanco y negro y el cambio a color es perfecto... Estoy escribiendo esto, y ya habiendo pasado los Oscars, tengo que decir que definitivamente esperaba que se llevarán ese premio.
Even being in love with this production, I can admit that it is not a movie for everyone, for example, I recommended this movie to a friend of mine and she: HATES IT.... That's the best example I can give you. This movie has a lot of sex scenes, and people invalidate it a lot because of that, I feel that, they are completely justified, because just as morality is a pillar of this plot, so is sexuality.
I don't want to do spoilers, but, there is one scene that everyone criticizes, but, to me it is a reflection of our bizarre society, a regrettable act that everyone does that. Having said that, we can talk about the production and the photography that for me, is MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC, at the beginning it is black and white and the change to color is perfect.... I'm writing this, and having already passed the Oscars, I have to say that I was definitely hoping they would take that award.
Ahora, los personajes... Bella Baxter fue un personaje perfectamente construido, con un desarrollo increíble, durante la película creo que podemos ver como 5 Bellas diferente... Y gracias a la vida y al destino por darle ese Oscar a Emma Stone, nunca tan feliz. Un personaje que también tuvo un gran arco fue el Dr. Godwin, un científico realmente particular que tiene un proceso de adaptación o descrubrimiento del dolor.
La bondad es representada en esta película por el Dr Max, quien se enamora de Bella y la deja ser libre en todos los aspectos... Ahora sí, el personaje que más me sorprendió, en especial por el actor y fue Duncan interpretado por Mark Ruffalo, una vista completamente diferente de lo que nos había entregado como actor y su personaje aunque lo odio, logro su cometido para la historia.
Now, the characters... Bella Baxter was a perfectly built character, with an incredible development, during the movie I think we can see like 5 different Bellas... And thank life and fate for giving that Oscar to Emma Stone, never so happy. A character that also had a great arc was Dr. Godwin, a really particular scientist who has a process of adaptation or discovery of pain.
Goodness is represented in this movie by Dr. Max, who falls in love with Bella and lets her be free in all aspects.... Now yes, the character that surprised me the most, especially for the actor and was Duncan played by Mark Ruffalo, a completely different view of what he had given us as an actor and his character although I hate him, achieved its purpose for the story.

Yo siento que todos deberían ver Poor Things, es una experiencia cinematográfica ÚNICA, sea que te gusté o no, puedes experimentar ver algo poco convencional. Creo que lo que más amé de la película es que con un mundo completamente extraño revuelve las moralidades de una sociedad bastante extraña. Volvería a ver esta película mil veces más.
I feel everyone should see Poor Things, it is a UNIQUE movie experience, whether you like it or not, you get to experience seeing something unconventional. I think what I loved most about the movie is that with a completely bizarre world it scrambles the moralities of a rather strange society. I would watch this movie a thousand times again.

Aún no la he visto pero lo que sí supe fue que meston ganó un Oscar por su participación en esta película y creo que se lo merece porque es una gran actriz.
