Little Painter

It is fascinating to see pure curiosity and desire at its peak.

Our life, which is so long but also so short, a real paradox here, manages to chop these feelings. This doesn't happen suddenly, but day after day and year after year the desires and curiosity get smaller and smaller.

These thoughts with pretensions of a cheap philosophy of life came to me as I was struggling to convert some "normal" (color) photos into black and white.

IMG_0099.jpg

I say they're normal now because people can easily take color pictures, it's within children's reach with today's technology.

"In my day" is a saying often used by older people when they remember their life.

In my day, black-and-white photography was the norm and color was an exception that few could achieve.

IMG_0097.jpg

I'm talking platitudes now, and yet...

People forget easily and this conclusion comes from my long observation of myself in the first place. Not to speak of our children who don't know and aren't interested in the past.

For them, the saying that applies best is "Carpe diem", i.e. "live in the moment"!

Lost Among the Words is the name of a superb movie by Sofia Coppola, Lost in Translation, this is how it was translated into Romanian.

I'm like that now, lost among the words.

This movie has nothing to do with my story today but I remembered its title now and I remembered how beautifully it shows the relationship between two people from different generations, touched by an impossible love story!

IMG_0079-2.jpg

Lost among the words distracted me from today's black-and-white story. So I'm trying to get back to the subject lost along the way.

I am fascinated by my granddaughter, my only granddaughter, Ilinca.

IMG_0076-2.jpg

Ilinca wants to do it all and have it all... all the time. She doesn't get tired, I get ten times tired and she keeps doing and wanting.

IMG_0075-2.jpg

Ilinca loves to draw.

It's a real show of what she does when she draws because she wants to do ten things simultaneously and her imagination is amazing. I hope you can see all this in the photos I managed to take.

It was hard to convert color photos to black and white. The strong rays of light turned into a bright, fiery white and it was hard to blur this effect. I don't know if I succeeded, hope to hear from you!

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

I rely mostly on photos in all my blogs. Words don't help me as much as photos.

I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that then turn into words. When I post in Photography Lovers the words have even less importance, they are a companion to the photos I want to show. This often makes the story uninteresting or common, yet it is necessary; otherwise, the photos would merely be a series of unexciting images.

I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to over-judge the text and to focus on the photos. The story puts everything in context and provides the explanations and clarifications necessary for the blog to convey something of interest to the reader.

Since we all love photography, let’s explore the captivating details captured in these photos.!

A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so.

It depends on the viewer.

Ilinka's smile in the last photo is precious. I don't know much about black-and-white photography. Actually, I know nothing, that is the true, but what these photos told me is that the imagination and children's ability and desire to play and get lost in that world is amazing and timeless! It is a quality we lose a bit as we grow older as there are other things to focus on, it is normal and the way how humans survive, cycles in our own lives. We do find ways to preserve the playing and creative expressions through arts and even science, so what is the conclusion, mipiano hahaha? 😂 (still drinking my morning coffee so this is a bit messy comment 😂) No major conclusion, just that I loved to see how a little soul can focus on playing and creating worlds and scenes. May you have a great weekend, @bluemoon! 🐝

still drinking my morning coffee so this is a bit messy comment

I don't know if the coffee is to blame for this comment which gave me great pleasure, but I think it contributed to a pleasant state that prompted a similar response. Thanks, @mipiano!

Black and white photography is a state of mind, it should convey more emotion than the color version, that's how I see it and it's hard to achieve. I keep trying, without studying too much, I want to let my imagination and instinct work, if any.

Going back to childhood, to memories of my own or my son's childhood, is an exercise in nostalgia that I am using more and more now. The memories are vague but the presence of my child's child's child is devastating for me. I discover a still free behavior, but less and less, and a candor that hurts because of how beautiful it is.

so what is the conclusion, mipiano hahaha?

I think you need to get to the table with some rocks and colors!

(Edited)

The same here, in my day/in my time used here. I have also started to use it sometimes while talking to teens, thus I feel a bit old :)

It's a strange feeling, pleasant and unpleasant at times, to feel a little old.

You have succeeded, the pictures look fantastic and I understand the issue of light and sun, it has happened to me even in colour photos.

I'll keep this part, today's young people live in the moment, and if that's the way it is, it is. They live in the here and now and that's not bad but there should be a balance and look at the whole.

Your granddaughter is beautiful, enjoy her very much and above all... may she enjoy you very much, the memories we have of each other is what makes life worth living.

Very nicely said, thank you very much!
Indeed, our memories are the most precious.

They are, that's what we are. Thanks to you!

When it comes to appreciating the photographs there is no need for so much explanation, as I see it these photographs detail and demonstrate the dynamics that you wanted to capture and express. Greetings !

You're right, it should be without words and explanations.
I wasn't sure I did the right thing and thank you for your confirmation that it was okay.
