Review and opinion of the movie Poor Things. [ENG-ESP]
De las películas nominadas al Oscar de este año 2024, esta es la primera película que veo, aunque de la ganadora se estuvo haciendo comentarios positivos varios meses, no es el tipo de películas que me llame la atención, a diferencia de esta que tiene una trama totalmente diferente y de la que había leído y escuchado muchas cosas interesantes que me podría gustar.
Está película cumplió mis expectativas en todos los sentidos, sin ver las otras películas yo le hubiera dado el mayor galardón, por su originalidad y por todos los premios que si se llevó, muy bien merecidos, incluyendo la de mejor actriz para Emma Stone. Pero no funciona así, igual aclaro que me gustó mucho esta película, incluyendo las escenas no aptas para menores de edad.
Of the films nominated for the Oscar this year 2024, this is the first film that I see, although the winner was making positive comments for several months, it is not the kind of film that calls my attention, unlike this one that has a totally different plot and of which I had read and heard many interesting things that I might like.
This movie met my expectations in every way, without having seen the other movies I would have given it the top award, for its originality and for all the awards it got, very well deserved, including best actress for Emma Stone. But it doesn’t work that way, I still like this movie, including the scenes not suitable for minors.
Bella Baxter (Emma Stone) es una mujer adulta producto de un experimento científico donde se fusionó el cuerpo de la madre y el cerebro del hijo. Al menos no era el cerebro de una cabra en el cuerpo de una mujer, y ojo que lo pensé al ver que al principio se mostraban los diferentes animales mezclados y viendo la conducta de juego y saltos que tenía el personaje de Bella, en ese momento pasaron muchas cosas por mi cabeza.
Luego conocemos a Max (Ramy Youssef) quien es un estudiante de medicina muy admirador del Dr Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe), científico creador de toda esta locura de experimentar y quien se considera el padre de Bella. Max se encargará de registrar la evolución de Bella y será con quien socializará en las primeras etapas de su vida, hasta conocer a Duncan (Mark Ruffalo) quien la llevará a conocer el mundo, nuevas experiencias y nuevas personas.
Bella Baxter (Emma Stone) is an adult woman who is the product of a scientific experiment in which the mother’s body and the child’s brain were fused. At least it was not the brain of a goat in the body of a woman, and eye I thought so when I saw that at the beginning the different animals were shown mixed and seeing the behavior of play and jumps that had the character of Bella, at that moment many things went through my head.
Then we meet Max (Ramy Youssef) who is a medical student and a big fan of Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe), the scientist who created all this crazy experiments and who is considered Bella’s father. Max will be in charge of recording Bella’s evolution and will be the one with whom she will socialize in the early stages of her life, until she meets Duncan (Mark Ruffalo) who will take her to meet the world, new experiences and new people.
El premio de mejor actriz lo tiene muy bien merecido Emma Stone, su personaje es un bebé que va creciendo (solo en mente), aprendiendo cada día cosas nuevas, tiene momento en los que es malcriada, tal cual lo haría cualquier niño y así va creciendo hasta descubrir su sexualidad y la satisfacción que esto le provoca. Cuando llega la hora de partir y aprender de la vida su padre ofrece su apoyo de la única manera en la que puede y la deja vivir su libertad.
El blanco y negro que ofrece la película en las primeras escenas y la transición a color es impresionante y mas en el momento en el que ocurre, no se si el significado es que en ese momento comenzó a vivir de verdad y empezó a ver su vida a colores o solo fui yo la que lo vi de esa manera. En cuanto a la imagen después de que la película cambia a color es espectacular, los colores son brillantes y los tonos naranjas y azules son hermosos, se pueden detallar mejor el vestuario y las escenificaciones.
The award for best actress is well deserved for Emma Stone, her character is a baby who is growing up (only in mind), learning new things every day, she has moments in which she lets herself be spoiled, as any child would do and so she grows up to discover her sexuality and the satisfaction that this gives her. When the time comes for her to leave and get to know life, her father supports her in the only way he can and lets her live her freedom.
The black and white that the film offers in the first scenes and the transition to color is impressive and more so at the moment it happens, I don’t know if the meaning is that at that moment she really started to live and started to see her life in color or was it just me who saw it that way. As for the image after the film changes to color it is spectacular, the colors are vivid and the orange and blue tones are beautiful, you can better detail the costumes and the staging.
Los personajes solo están para ayudar a Bella a vivir, ya sean buenas como malas experiencias.
Max, es el hombre comprensible, que apoya y acepta tal cual es la personalidad de Bella y la ama por su manera de ser diferente. Duncan, aunque es un personaje que solo quería divertirse, es prepotente, machista y muy pesado, terminó por obsesionarse con ella por la misma resistencia de Bella a ser convencional, en cambio siempre buscaba experimentar y ser libre, situación que terminó por envolver a Duncan en este círculo.
El Dr Godwin, lo ha dado todo por la ciencia desde pequeño, literalmente todo. Un padre que le ofrece la oportunidad de elegir a su hija a sabiendas de que sufre por esas decisiones. Pero que también en su momento la recibe con los brazos abiertos.
De la misma manera el resto de los personajes secundarios que se cruzan en la vida de Bella durante toda la película, le muestran como es el mundo, lo bueno y lo malo, logrando que haya un crecimiento en la conciencia del personaje.
The characters are only there to help Bella live, whether they are good or bad experiences.
Max, is the understandable man, who supports and accepts Bella’s personality and loves her for her different way of being. Duncan, although he is a character who just wanted to have fun, is overbearing, macho and very heavy, he ended up becoming obsessed with her because of Bella’s resistance to being conventional, instead she always seeks to experiment and be free, a situation that ended up involving Duncan in this circle.
Dr. Godwin has given everything to science since he was a child, literally everything. A father who offers his daughter the opportunity to choose, knowing that she suffers for those choices. But who also welcomes her with open arms.
In the same way the rest of the secondary characters that cross Bella’s life throughout the film, show her how the world is, the good and the bad, achieving a growth in the character’s conscience.
Aunque el saber desde el principio de dónde viene Bella y todas las abominaciones que vemos en pantalla te hacen pensar que todo es una locura, para mí la película sobre la vida de Bella Baxter trata sobre el descubrimiento, la libertad, la evolución , el aprender de la vida a través de las experiencias y encontrar al final el verdadero camino sabiendo quien eres de verdad y no lo que te dicen que debes ser o quien fuiste.
Es una película que recomiendo a mayores de 18 años, ya que posee escenas sexuales acordes al contextos de lo que se está contando. Es una película con una historia original y con un desarrollo que te lleva por cada una de escenas sin dar tiempo de aburrirte, con una conclusión satisfactoria y justa para todos los personajes. En conclusión, me gustó mucho esta película.
Although knowing from the beginning where Bella comes from and all the abominations we see on screen make you think that everything is crazy, for me the movie about Bella Baxter’s life is about discovery, freedom, evolution, learning about life through experiences and finding the true path at the end knowing who you really are and not what they say you should be or who you were.
It is a film that I recommend to those over 18 years old, as it has sexual scenes according to the context of what is told. It is a film with an original story and with a development that takes you through each of the scenes without giving you time to get bored, with a satisfactory and fair conclusion for all the characters. In conclusion, I really liked this movie.
Concuerdo con lo que decis, también note que todo se lleno de color una vez que Bella quedó libre en el mundo, por decirlo de alguna manera. La verdad que es una película con varios mensajes que descubrir. Me encantó la ambientación, el apartado visual es impresionante y la actuación de Emma estuvo increíble. Me gustó mucho.
Es una muy buena película, también me gustó mucho.
Esta es una de las películas que tengo pendiente por ver y se nota lo creativo de la historia. Me llama la atención sobretodo la parte del vestuario y por supuesto la fotografía, porque los colores son duda se ven radiantes.
Emma Stone y Willem Dafoe son actores increíbles que seguro le aportan su magia a este film.

STOPMuchachonaaa hola 😃/, yo al contrario vivarias de los Oscars menos esta en específico que las ganas de verla las tengo a tope y mas cando leo que tiene escenas no aptas para menores de edad, esas son las que me gustan jaja plus la estética del film que desdehace tiempo cautiva y mas con Emma que es una belleza bastante exótica, hipnotiza con su mirada, pienso eso ayuda mucho al film
