Miniseries Review Fool Me Once // Engaños [ENG-ESP]
Esta Semana Santa le saqué provecho al tiempo, pero no trabajando, sino descansando y viendo muchas películas y series. Una de ellas es Engaños, había leído en varias publicaciones sobre esta miniserie y me había parecido que tenía una trama bastante atrayente, especialmente para mí que me gusta el suspenso, así que decidí ver sus 8 capítulos en un súper maratón.
This Easter I took advantage of my time, but not by working, but by resting and watching many movies and series. One of them is Deceptions, I had read in several publications about this miniseries and I thought it had a quite attractive plot, especially for me who likes suspense, so I decided to watch its 8 chapters in a super marathon.
Luego del asesinato de su esposo, Maya, una ex militar con problemas psicológico de post guerra, queda sola con su hija pequeña y decide colocar una cámara escondida en su casa para saber como está su hija al cuidado de la niñera mientras ella sale a trabajar. Cuando revisa la cámara observa a su esposo fallecido jugando con su hija en el cuarto de juego. Empieza a investigar por su cuenta ya que por circunstancias pierde el video y sabe que era la única prueba de lo que había visto y que sin él, la iban a tratar como una loca.
La familia de su esposo Joe, es una familia con mucho poder, dueños de una farmacéutica muy importante. Mientras Maya investiga, la policía también lo hace de manera paralela, pero teniéndola como una de las principales sospechosas del asesinato de su esposo, ya que es la única testigo del ataque.
After the murder of her husband, Maya, a former soldier with post-war psychological problems, is left alone with her young daughter and decides to place a hidden camera in her house to know how her daughter is doing in the care of the nanny while she goes out to work. . When she checks the camera she sees her deceased husband playing with their daughter in the playroom. She begins to investigate on her own since due to circumstances she loses the video and knows that it was the only proof of what she had seen and that without it, they were going to treat her like a crazy person.
Her husband Joe’s family is a family with a lot of power, owners of a very important pharmaceutical company. While Maya investigates, the police also do so in parallel, but with her as one of the main suspects in her husband’s murder, since she is the only witness to the attack.
Durante toda la investigación, Maya se encuentra con oposición, mentiras y engaños, sale a la luz la relación del asesinato de su esposo con el de su hermana ocurrido hace menos de seis meses. Pero ella quiere averiguar dónde está Joe, porque ella lo vio en la cámara. Toda esta situación se convierte en una obsesión por descubrir el porqué está conexión. Dónde está Joe y que tiene que ver con el asesinato de su hermana, será que estaban involucrados en algo que hizo que fueran el objetivo principal. Maya hace lo imposible por descubrir quien mató a su hermana y porque lo hicieron, al principio se creía que había sido para asaltar su casa, pero al estar relacionado con el asesinato de Joe, quería decir que existían otras razones.
Esta obsesión pondrá en varias ocasiones a Maya en peligro de ir presa porque siempre se encuentra en los lugares menos adecuados, lo que hace que siempre parezca culpable, pero también la acercará a una verdad que lleva muchos años oculta y que podría dar respuestas a algunas situaciones.
Throughout the investigation, Maya encounters opposition, lies and deception, the relationship between her husband’s murder and that of her sister that occurred less than six months ago comes to light. But she wants to find out where Joe is, because she saw him on camera. This whole situation becomes an obsession to discover why this connection. Where Joe is and what it has to do with his sister’s murder, it must be that they were involved in something that made them the main target. Maya does everything possible to discover who killed her sister and why they did it. At first it was believed that it was to rob her house, but since it was related to Joe’s murder, it meant that there were other reasons.
This obsession will put Maya in danger of being imprisoned on several occasions because she is always in the least appropriate places, which makes her always seem guilty, but it will also bring her closer to a truth that has been hidden for many years and that could provide answers to some of her questions. Situations.
Mi opinión personal, es que a pesar de ser mi género favorito, tenía muchos ramas que te iban llevando y si no estaban atento podías perderte, por qué eran tantas cosas que al final se puede pensar que tenia que ver una cosa con la otra. Es más, me quedó una duda sobre los eventos del pasado que aunque los descubrimientos te pueden dar una explicación de la conducta de algunas personas no te dice que tiene que ver con los eventos actuales.
La protagonista, me pareció que no tenía mucha expresión, no logré ver nada en ella ni sentir empatía por su situación. Pedía muchos favores pero a nadie le contaba lo que hacía, ni a donde iba. Sinceramente por momentos me caía muy mal. Al final puede que haya entendido porque no quería involucrar a más personas en su investigación.
Los personajes secundarios como el detective y el cuñado de Maya (esposo de la hermana muerta) me gustaron mucho, hombres muy reales, familiares, que estaban pasando por situaciones delicadas. Esas actuaciones para mí si fueron muy creíbles y ahí si sentí empatía por los personajes.
My personal opinion is that despite being my favorite genre, it had many branches that led you and if you weren’t attentive you could get lost, because there were so many things that in the end you might think that one thing had to do with the other. What’s more, I had a doubt about the events of the past that although the discoveries can give you an explanation for the behavior of some people, it does not tell you that it has to do with current events.
The protagonist, I thought, didn’t have much expression, I couldn’t see anything in her or feel empathy for her situation. He asked for many favors but he didn’t tell anyone what he was doing or where he was going. Honestly, at times I really disliked him. In the end he may have understood why he didn’t want to involve more people in his research.
I really liked the secondary characters like the detective and Maya’s brother-in-law (the dead sister’s husband), very real, familiar men who were going through delicate situations. For me, those performances were very credible and I did feel empathy for the characters.
Como dije es una miniserie que te muestra muchas vertices, porque habla de la situación familiar casi de todos los personajes, incorporando cosas que a la final no tenían nada que ver con el caso de investigación, pero que tal vez si para entender las decisiones que se tomaron al final. Por ejemplo, los hijos es lo más sagrado para una madre si en algún momento dejo mis hijos al cuidado de otra persona, necesito estar muy convencida que estara en muy buenas manos, que esa persona es honorable y de buenos sentimientos. Creo que eso es lo que se trató de explicar con una de las historias paralelas al caso.
Bueno, para culminar, es una serie que da lo que promete, como su nombre lo indica está llena de Engaños que se van descubriendo y cuando llega la hora del final, pues también nos damos cuenta que estuvimos doblemente engañados.

If at any time I leave my children in the care of another person I need to be very convinced that they will be in very good hands, that that person is honorable and has good feelings. I think that's what one of the parallel stories to the case tried to explain.
Well, to conclude, it is a series that fulfills what it promises, as its name indicates, it is full of deceptions that are discovered and when the moment of the end arrives, we also realize that we were doubly deceived.
Esa escena del padre jugando con la niña siendo grabados por una cámara me quedó grabada. No sé si fue que la vi en algún tráiler o reseña, me intrigó mucho y me dejó con ganas de verla, ahora sé de qué trata.
Al conocer tu opinión, ya sé que tiene sus detalles, pero me sigue pareciendo buena.

Una miniserie siempre viene bien, algo corto que logré captar la atención o al menos entretener. Por lo que veo esta serie podría tener varios giros, la trama suena atrapante. Gracias por compartir.
Si, la trama te atrapa por qué de verdad quieres descubrir que tiene que ver una cosa con la otra. Y el final pues es inesperado, yo no me lo imaginé.
