La Mujer Dormida - Spanish horror film [ESP-ENG]
Almudena Amor, has become one of the Spanish actresses, I would say specialist in horror movies or rather psychological horror, a few months ago I reviewed “La Abuela” a movie that I liked a lot although I also found the plot a little similar to a movie I saw before, the thing is that in that movie her performance stands out quite a lot as well as the actress who plays La Abuela (Vera Valdez).
Now Almudena returns with another horror movie, with few characters where most of the scenes take place inside a house, you could say that the stories are different although the ending made me suspect that the objective was the same. Although that’s my appreciation and I’m one of those who give movies a lot of twists, looking for the conspiracy side or that this is not the end at all.
Almudena Amor, se ha convertido en una de las actrices españolas, yo diría especialista en cine de terror o más bien terror psicológico, hace unos meses reseñé “La Abuela” una película que me gustó mucho aunque también encontré el argumento un poco similar a una película que vi anteriormente, el caso es que en esa película su actuación destaca bastante así como la actriz que interpreta a La Abuela (Vera Valdez).
Ahora Almudena regresa con otra película de terror, con pocos personajes donde la mayoría de las escenas transcurren dentro de una casa, se podría decir que las historias son diferentes aunque el final me hizo sospechar que el objetivo era el mismo. Aunque esa es mi apreciación y soy de los que le dan muchas vueltas a las películas, buscando el lado conspiranoico o que este no sea el final del todo.
Ana (Almudena Amor) is a girl who travels to the Canary Islands to work as a nurse taking care of Sara (Amanda Goldsmith), a woman who after a suicide attempt was left in a coma and for two years is only in the care of her husband Agustin (Javier Rey) who now has a lawsuit from Sara’s mother so he needs an assistant to not be separated from his wife.
Ana is a cheerful girl and eager to help this couple who at first glance have been very happy, they live in a nice house on the outskirts of the city. Both are artists, Sara a painter and Agustín a plastic sculptor. It seems a simple work in a quiet environment, the three of them alone at home, until she asks how Sara has reached this state and Agustín tells her that he was suffering from depression.
From that moment on Ana begins to suffer episodes of confusion in which she falls asleep without realizing it and wakes up in different places, some calmer and others that represent a real danger to her person. Her situation worsens when she begins a sentimental relationship with Agustín, to the point of becoming pregnant by him. With so many things happening in her life, she attributes everything bad to Sara, who does not want her at home, nor with her husband, and somehow is driving her crazy or wants to kill her.
Ana (Almudena Amor) es una chica que viaja a Canarias para trabajar como enfermera cuidando de Sara (Amanda Goldsmith), una mujer que tras un intento de suicidio quedó en coma y desde hace dos años sólo está al cuidado de su marido Agustín (Javier Rey) que ahora tiene una demanda de la madre de Sara por lo que necesita una asistenta para no separarse de su mujer.
Ana es una chica alegre y con muchas ganas de ayudar a esta pareja que a primera vista han sido muy felices, viven en una bonita casa a las afueras de la ciudad. Ambos son artistas, Sara pintora y Agustín escultor plástico. Parece un trabajo sencillo en un entorno tranquilo, los tres solos en casa, hasta que ella pregunta cómo ha llegado Sara a ese estado y Agustín le cuenta que sufría una depresión.
A partir de ese momento Ana comienza a sufrir episodios de confusión en los que se queda dormida sin darse cuenta y se despierta en diferentes lugares, algunos más tranquilos y otros que representan un verdadero peligro para su persona. Su situación empeora cuando comienza una relación sentimental con Agustín, hasta el punto de quedar embarazada de él. Con tantas cosas sucediendo en su vida, todo lo malo se lo atribuye a Sara, que no la quiere en casa, ni con su marido, y de alguna manera la está volviendo loca o la quiere matar.
It is a psychological horror film, although there are scenes where the main thing is the paranormal theme, it is not something that scares you but it keeps you in suspense, with a tension in the chest to know what Sara wants from Ana. And although most of the episodes, let’s call them so, that Ana has, are at night and the atmosphere manages to impregnate you with a sustico it’s nothing out of this world.
I really liked that the house was not an old house as one might suspect, something that even being in it in broad daylight was scary, nothing to do, it is a beautiful modern country house, in the first scenes in which Ana arrives in town and moves into the house, it is perceived that the intention was to show the landscapes of the area and it is very nice.
As I said the characters are very few, in the house there are only the three of them. Ana goes to the village a couple of times when she is investigating the couple’s life and talks to three women who knew them before what happened. Little by little she ties things together until she finally manages to find out what really happened to Sara and Agustín.
Es una película de terror psicológico, aunque hay escenas donde lo principal es el tema paranormal, no es algo que te asuste pero te mantiene alerta, con una tensión en el pecho por saber qué quiere Sara de Ana. Y aunque la mayoría de los episodios, llamémosles así, que tiene Ana, son de noche y el ambiente consigue impregnarte de un sustico no es nada del otro mundo.
Me gustó mucho que la casa no fuera una casa antigua como se podría sospechar, algo que incluso estar en ella a plena luz del día daría miedo, nada que ver, se trata de una preciosa casa de campo moderna, en las primeras escenas en las que Ana llega al pueblo y se traslada a la casa, se percibe que la intención era mostrar los paisajes de la zona y es muy bonito.
Como dije los personajes son muy pocos, en la casa solo están ellos tres. Ana va al pueblo un par de veces cuando está investigando la vida de la pareja y habla con tres mujeres que los conocieron antes de lo sucedido. Poco a poco va atando cabos hasta que por fin consigue descubrir qué pasó realmente con Sara y Agustín.
Of course it has its negative things, but I particularly liked this movie, the photography is spectacular, the performances were acceptable considering that there are only two actors who have more appearances, in general terms it kept me attentive, with a nerve in my chest to know more and a scare every time Sara opened her eyes and did not know where she was going to wake up and what Ana was going to be doing. The ending takes a rather dramatic turn, perhaps deservedly so because of the evil and as I said at the beginning I don’t know if Ana ended up being herself or someone else and the ending was just to pay homage to Sara and her wishes.
Claro que tiene sus cosas negativas, pero a mi particularmente esta película me gustó, la fotografía es espectacular, las actuaciones fueron aceptables considerando que solo hay dos actores que tienen más apariciones, en términos generales me mantuvo atenta, con un nervio en el pecho por saber más y un susto cada vez que Sara abría los ojos y no sabía donde iba a despertar y que iba a estar haciendo Ana. El final da un giro bastante dramático, quizás merecido por lo malvado y como dije al principio no sé si Ana terminó siendo ella misma u otra persona y el final fue solo para homenajear a Sara y sus deseos.
Hola amiga, no conocía de esta película y sin duda suena bastante interesante por lo que tiene que pasar dicha mujer, a pesar de que las películas de terror hoy en día son lo mismo, siendo algo aburrido. Sin embargo increíble lo que pasará en esa relación y más aún tener que lidiar con todo eso, así que la anotaré para ver qué tal me va con esta entrega
Tiene unos meses de haber salido. Es más terror psicológico pero a mí me gustó. Ojalá puedas verla y luego me cuentas que te pareció.
Yo vi esta pelicula hac tiempo, gracias a que aparecia esta actriz española que me gusto bastante. La verdad no es de mis peliculas favoritas, pero si es verdad que regala unos buenos momentos. A mi me encanta ver varias veces mis peliculas favoritas de terror, no se si veria esta, pero si fue bastante buena, saludossss
Que bueno que ya la viste. Tampoco es que es de las películas que vería varias veces pero me pareció interesante y me entretuvo.
