Paranorman, Review (ENG/SPA)
Hello, internet peole, everything ok? Today I want to talk to you about one of my favorite Stop Motion movies, and that is Paranorman. Hola, gente de internet ¿Todo bien? Hoy quiero hablarles de una de mis películas preferidas de Stop Motion la cual es "Paranorman". Este film es de los primeros en mostrarnos temas como el bullying, la vida después de la muerte (además de la muerte en sí) e incluso la homosexualidad (aunque de una forma escueta, fresca y hasta graciosa) Sigan leyendo para saber más.
The first thing I have to say is that I identify with Norman in certain aspects (fortunately I don't see ghosts) but otherwise we both have questionable tastes (especially in childhood) Norman was seen in his town as a freak by the fact that they saw him talking "alone" when he was really talking to ghosts, he also loved the paranormal and consumed products of this style as horror movies. In my case, besides the fact that I loved horror movies as well, when I was a child, I had the habit of drawing cemeteries, zombies or skeletons, and this was not well seen by my teachers or other children, which in a certain aspect had me on the margin of the rest, like Norman.
Lo primero que tengo que decir es que me identifico con Norman en ciertos aspectos (afortunadamente no veo fantasmas) pero por lo demás ambos tenemos gustos cuestionables (sobre todo eres niño) Norman era visto en su pueblo como un bicho raro por el hecho de que lo veían hablar "solo" cuando realmente estaba hablando con fantasmas, además amaba lo paranormal y consumía productos de este estilo como películas de terror. En mi caso, cuando era niña, además de que me gustaban las películas de terror también tenía la costumbre de dibujar cementerios, zombies o esqueletos, y esto no era bien visto por mis maestros u otros niños, lo que en cierto aspecto me tenía al margen del resto, como Norman.
Norman's gift, as I already mentioned, keeps him on the fringes of society, his parents and sister don't understand him and at school he gets bullied by the school bully. Far from that, Norman tries to lead a normal life, however a series of visions and the spirit of the town wanderer warns him that the curse of the local witch of the town is real and that an attack is coming against the town, where the dead will rise from their graves and that happens every 300 years, before leaving he also explains how to stop the curse, then the solution is in the hands of Norman, and he made the decision to save the people.
El don de Norman, como ya mencioné, lo mantiene al margen de la sociedad, sus padres y hermana no lo comprenden y en la escuela recibe bullying del matón de la escuela. Lejos de eso, Norman intenta llevar una vida normal, sin embargo una serie de visiones y el espíritu del vagabundo del pueblo le advierte que la maldición de la bruja local es real y que se avecina un ataque contra el pueblo donde los muertos se levantarán de sus tumbas, y que ocurre cada 300 años, también le explica como detener la maldición antes de marcharse, entonces la solución está en las manos de Norman quien toda la decisión de salvar el pueblo.
The first thing I have to say is that it is a very funny movie, it has jokes that although they are not something out of this world, are very well placed in the dialogues, it also contains black humor that can be somewhat shocking for some people, even some parents criticized the film for this feature but Paranorman is not for children but for teenagers and adults.
Lo primero que tengo que decir es que es una película demasiado graciosa, tiene chistes que aunque no son algo del otro mundo, están muy bien colocados en los dialogos, además también contiene humor negro que puede ser algo escandaloso para algunas personas, incluso algunos padres criticaron el film por esta característica, pero es que Paranorman no es para niños sino para adolescentes y adultos.
The mise-en-scene, the photography are amazing. It has quite a few interesting shots and references to several horror movies like "Night of the Living Dead", "Silent Hill" or "Halloween".
La puesta en escena y la fotrografía son asombrosas. Tiene bastantes planos interesantes y referencias a varias películas de terror como "La Noche de los Muertos Vivientes", "Silent Hill" o "Halloween".
Another topic the film deals with is the burning of witches at the hands of the Puritans (part of American history) as the witch is an 11 year old girl who died accused of being a witch for having the same gift as Normal (which also reminds me of Alessa and Silent Hill) so we have another reference (it's riddled with them).
Otro tema que trata la película es el de la quema de brujas a manos de los puritanos (parte de la historia estadounidense) ya que la bruja es una niña de 11 años que murió acusada de bruja por tener el mismo don de Normal (lo que me recuerda también a Alessa y Silent Hill) así que tenemos otra referencia (está plagada de ellas)
Besides all the positive aspects of the film, what I like the most and what I feel is the best thing about the film, is its message "It's not about pointing fingers at each other for the reprehensible actions we do, this will only turn into a vicious circle, it's about recognizing your mistakes and forgiving others which will make us a more advanced and empathetic society" Norman's speech and his actions at the climax of the film to try to resolve the major conflict is the most important and beautiful thing about the film.
Además de todos los aspectos positivos de la película, lo que más me gusta y que siento que es lo mejor que tiene la película es su mensaje "No se trata de señalarnos los unos a los otros por las acciones reprochables que hagamos, esto solo se tornará en un círculo vicioso, se trata de reconocer tus errores y perdonar los ajenos lo que nos hará una sociedad más avanzada y empática" El discurso de Norman y sus acciones al clímax de la película para intentar resolver el mayor conflicto es lo más importante y bonito del film.
This film is a work of art, I have always loved stop motion and all the work behind it, it is a type of animation that is expensive, difficult and laborious but worth it. It has an artistic intentionality that nowadays is hard to find, for me it is a 10 out of 10 and I would love to recommend it to you.
Esta película es una obra de arte, siempre he amado el stop motion y todo el trabajo que hay detrás, es un tipo de animación que es costosa, difícil y laboriosa pero que vale la pena. Posee una intencionalidad artística que hoy en día cuesta encontrar, para mi es un 10 de 10 y me encantaría recomendárselas.

Hola amiga, una producción muy buena, tuve la oportunidad de verla por la televisión cuando la pasaban y me gusto muchos la manera como lograron desatollar esa trama e involucrar una gran cantidad de aspectos muy buenos, además esos de los fantasmas, yo no creo en eso, sin duda a la producción le dan un gran toque, para que así sea algo distinto. Ese joven es increíble por todo lo que pasa y como logra salir. Gracias por compartirla con nosotros.
ParaNorman es de mis animaciones favoritas, tanto por su historia como por su técnica de animación y filmación. Todo un referente a la hora de mezclar terror y comedia en animación.
