Plot

The story basically comes to communicate the message that there are no excuses to achieve a goal, because the context of Madame C. Walker is a United States in the late nineteenth century where women still occupied an insignificant role in society. A woman was "somebody" depending on who she was married to, let alone if she was a dark-skinned woman, as is the case of our protagonist.

The protagonist, when the series begins, was a woman who washed clothes in order to survive, and she washed the clothes of women of considerable purchasing power. Sometimes in exchange, she received a service that she herself needed, such as going to the hairdresser.

The woman who did her hair had an excellent hair product, and a team of saleswomen who, according to this woman, were qualified to sell it successfully, but Madame C. Walker knew that selling it among her acquaintances would make sales soar even higher, so she proposed to the owner of the product to start marketing it. This woman says no and Madame takes some samples to make the sales attempt, which, as she suspected, turned out to be a total success. La historia básicamente viene a comunicar el mensaje de que no existen las excusas para alcanzar una meta, pues el contexto de Madame C. Walker es un Estados Unidos de fines del siglo XIX en donde la mujer todavía ocupaba un rol insignificante en la sociedad. La mujer era “alguien” en función de con quien estuviera casada y ni hablar de si se trataba de una mujer de color de piel oscuro, como es el caso de nuestra protagonista.

La protagonista, cuando empieza la serie, era una mujer que lavaba ropa para poder sobrevivir, y lavaba ropa de mujeres de bastante poder adquisitivo. A veces a cambio, recibía algún servicio que ella misma necesitaba, como era en algún momento ir a la peluquería.

Ni las adversidades ni la competencia parecían constituir el reto necesario para que Madame C. Walker bajara la guardia, por el contrario, parecían ser un motor que impulsaba su negocio todavía más.

Here I will also mention the values, since I have commented on something previously and I do not want to be reiterative.

Undoubtedly, I think it is an excellent series. I believe that stories based on real life, especially if they tell us about inspiring characters that can make us grow and develop more empowering ideas, are exquisite and "must" be seen.

This "must" is not meant as an obligation, but really one can get a lot of inspiration from stories like this, seeing that someone, in much more difficult conditions than the current ones, managed to go beyond the apparent possibilities.

Plus the lead actress, Octavia Spencer, is an acting genius. I had already seen her in Historias Cruzadas and I thought her work was excellent. In this series, her absolute commitment to the role she plays stands out, making the viewer empathize with her.

Aquí también mencionaré los valores, pues algo les he comentado previamente y no quiero ser reiterativa.

Sin dudas me parece una serie excelente. Creo que las historias basadas en la vida real, sobre todo si nos hablan de personajes inspiradores que pueden hacernos crecer y desarrollar más ideas de empoderamiento, son exquisitas y “deben” ser vistas.

Este “deben” no va a modo de obligación, sino que realmente uno puede llegar a obtener mucha inspiración de historias así, al ver que alguien, en condiciones mucho más difíciles que las actuales, logró ir más allá de las aparentes posibilidades.

Además la actriz protagonista, Octavia Spencer, es una genia en interpretación. Ya la tenía vista en Historias Cruzadas y su trabajo me había parecido excelente. Pues en esta serie se destaca su compromiso absoluto con el rol que interpreta, logrando que el expectador empatice absolutamente con ella.

The miniseries is enjoyable, entertaining, clear and direct. In a few episodes, the birth of this empire and the roles of the different people who are part of it, from Madame C. Walker's family, to the merchants and the competition, are dealt with. In addition, although the focus is on the business, personal life situations are also addressed, which makes this series, which is loaded with historical, cultural and economic knowledge, very entertaining.

This series definitely gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars and at least for me, I have nothing to criticize on the negative side. I find it an exquisite production from all angles.

La miniserie es amena, entretenida, clara y directa. En pocos episodios abordan el nacimiento de este imperio y los roles de diferentes personas que son parte de él, desde la familia de Madame C. Walker, hasta los comerciantes y la competencia. Además, aunque el foco está en el negocio, se abordan también situaciones de la vida personal, lo cual hace que esta serie, que viene cargada de conocimiento histórico, cultural y económico, sea muy entretenida.

Definitivamente esta serie se lleva ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 estrellas y al menos yo, no tengo nada que criticar en el aspecto negativo. Me parece una producción exquisita desde todos sus ángulos.
