Far Far Away: a film to empower and rise like a phoenix

Hello my dear friends of Hive! Here I am I one more day sharing with this beautiful family, this time to bring you a movie that I discovered by chance, searching on Netflix for "Under the Tuscan Sun". I didn't find it, but instead I saw a title that caught my attention: "Far Far Away". A woman was walking, on the cover, into a dreamlike landscape.

Somehow the image of the Netflix "thumbnail" captivated me and told me that's what I needed to see, as, due to personal issues, I'm going through one of those challenging times when the sea gets a little rough. Not that I want to lead the post into catharsis, but since I'm telling you about this movie, I'll take this opportunity to tell you that if you're reeling for any reason, this is a title to say YES! Without a second thought.

The themes that are touched are the mourning for the death of a loved one like a mother or a grandmother, deception, separation, and in a parallel way the possibility of reassembling life, even at the age of 50 (I say this for those who believe that because they are 45 they already have "all lost", I know some like that and this film comes to show another side of the coin of life).

Muy Lejos: una película para empoderarse y resurgir como un ave fénix

Hola mis queridos amigos de Hive!! Aquí estoy I un día más compartiendo con esta hermosa familia, en esta ocasión para traerles una película que descubrí de casualidad, buscando en Netflix “Bajo el Sol de Toscana”. No la encontré, pero a cambio vi un título que llamó mi atención: “Muy Lejos”. Una mujer se adentraba, en la portada, en un paisaje de ensueño.

De alguna manera la imagen de la “miniatura” de Netflix me cautivó y me dijo que eso necesitaba ver, ya que por cuestiones personales, atravieso uno de esos momentos desafiantes en los que el mar se pone un poco revuelto. No es que quiera llevar el post a la catarsis, pero ya que les hablo de esta película, aprovecho para decirles que si están tambaleándose por cualquier motivo, este es un título al que hay que decirle ¡SÍ! Sin pensarlo dos veces.

Los temas que se tocan son el duelo por el fallecimiento de un ser querido como una mamá o una abuela, el engaño, la separación, y de manera paralela se ve la posibilidad de rearmar la vida, aún a una edad de 50 años (lo digo para quienes creen que por tener 45 ya tienen ”todo perdido”, conozco a algunos así y esta película viene a mostrar otra cara de la moneda de la vida).

Plot

The film is about Zeynep Altin (Naomi Krauss), a woman who has lost her mother and lives with her teenage daughter, her husband (who owns a restaurant) and her father. The story begins with the funeral of the protagonist's mother, where she realizes the incredible absence of her husband, who was supposed to read a few lines for his mother-in-law and instead is left having fun with the new cook of the restaurant with the excuse that it was work-related.

Zeynep, who had received a house in Croatia as an inheritance from her mother, fed up with the situation and added to the fact that her daughter does not respect her and does not seem to care about her, leaves, almost without thinking about it, to see this property.

When she arrives, she finds a house without electricity and inhabited by the former owner, Josip, who, after a difficult family situation, had sold it to Zeynep's mother.

There begins a whole issue of whether or not to sell the property, while the protagonist begins to really show the woman she is. Determined, capable, strong.

Trama

La película trata de Zeynep Altin (Naomi Krauss), una mujer que ha perdido a su mamá y que vive con su hija adolescente, su marido (quien tiene un restaurante) y su papá. La historia empieza con el entierro de la mamá de la protagonista, en donde esta se da cuenta de la increíble ausencia que tiene por parte del esposo, quien debía leer unas líneas para su suegra y en su lugar se queda divirtiéndose con la nueva cocinera del restaurante con la excusa de que eran temas laborales.

Zeynep, que había recibido una casa en Croacia como herencia de su madre, harta de la situación y sumado a que su hija no la respeta ni parece preocuparse por ella, se va, casi sin pensarlo, a ver esta propiedad.

Al llegar, se encuentra con una casa sin electricidad y habitada por el antiguo dueño, Josip, que, tras una difícil situación familiar, se la había vendido a la madre de Zeynep.

Allí empieza todo un tema de que si se vende o no la propiedad, mientras la protagonista empieza a mostrar realmente la mujer que es. Decidida, capaz, fuerte.

Things I loved about this movie

First I want to clarify that I won't talk about issues to improve, because I don't think I have any. I thought it was beautiful. Therefore, I will refer to the things I liked the most of a production to which I give a 10.

There will also be several opinions, for example in this site No es cine todo lo que gluce, they call it a table-top movie... Maybe, there are infinite opinions, of course. But I didn't see it this way.

Here are the 4 features that I liked the most:

Cosas que amé de esta película

Primero quiero aclarar que no hablaré de cuestiones a mejorar, porque no creo que tenga ninguna. Me pareció preciosa. Por ello, haré referencia a las cosas que más me gustaron de una producción a la que le coloco un 10.

Igualmente habrá varias opiniones, por ejemplo en este sitio No es cine todo lo que reluce, la catalogan de ser una película de sobremesa… Puede ser, hay opiniones infinitas, claro. Pero yo no lo vi de esta manera.

Aquí les cuento las 4 características que más me gustaron:

Spontaneity

It's a romantic comedy, but this one does have some funny moments. I usually don't like romantic comedies too much, but this one I didn't see it that way, as it somehow showed a lot of what's going on today.

This film is very natural, things happen that can happen to anyone and I think that adds a lot to the moment of generating a commitment from the viewer.

Multiculturalism

The story is based on people with German and Turkish ancestry, at the same time they seem to live in Germany (this was not too clear to me), then they go to Croatia, where Zeynep's mother was originally from.

In addition, Josip's brother goes to live in the United States, the daughter of the main couple falls in love with an Italian girl (she is never shown as a character per se, but only named).

The point is that I really liked all this because it is something that is happening in Europe. It is very common to see these couples from different backgrounds starting a life together.

La espontaneidad

Es una comedia romántica, pero esta sí que tiene momentos graciosos. Por lo general las comedias románticas no me gustan demasiado, pero a esta no la vi así, ya que de alguna manera mostró mucho de lo que está pasando hoy en día.

Esta película es muy natural, ocurren cosas que pueden pasarle a cualquier y creo que eso suma mucho al momento de generar un compromiso por parte del espectador.

La multiculturalidad

La historia está basada en personas con ascendencia alemana y turca, al mismo tiempo parece que viven en Alemania (esto no me quedó demasiado claro), luego se van a Croacia, de donde era oriunda la mamá de Zeynep.

Además el hermano de Josip se va a vivir a Estados Unidos, la hija del matrimonio protagonista se enamora de una chica italiana (a esta nunca se la muestra como personaje en sí, sino que solo se nombra).

La cuestión es que todo esto me gustó mucho porque es algo que está ocurriendo en Europa. Es muy común ver estas parejas de diferente procedencia iniciar una vida juntos.

The realism

In spite of having entered into the genre of romantic comedies, the way in which the topics and bonds are approached is not fanciful or idealized, but it works from what really happens. With the flaws, with the unforeseen, with the different possibilities.

Yes, the production has an optimistic tone, but I always believe that it is the best option to watch this kind of stories, which are able to raise the vibration.

This theme of realism is, from my point of view, closely linked to that of spontaneity.

The role of women

I left this one for the end but it seems to me the most important. Suddenly it shows a 49 year old woman with insecurity, mistrust, low self-esteem, being able to end a relationship that made her fed up.

She is shown determined, without looking back, going for what life has in store for her, without knowing very well what it is. She is empowered, capable of falling in love with whomever she wants and capable of having enough humility to continue learning from her mother, even when she has passed away.

I loved this character, I think she can inspire many women and why not also men who feel stuck in their lives today.

El realismo

A pesar de haber entrado dentro del género de comedias románticas, la manera en que se abordan los tópicos y los vínculos, no es fantasiosa o idealizada, sino que se trabaja desde lo que pasa en verdad. Con los defectos, con los imprevistos, con las diferentes posibilidades.

Sí que la producción tiene un tono optimista, pero siempre creo que es la mejor opción ver este tipo de historias, que son capaces de elevar la vibración.

Este tema del realismo, está, desde mi punto de vista, muy ligado con el de la espontaneidad.

El rol de la mujer

Dejé este para el final pero me parece el más importante. De pronto se muestra a una mujer de 49 años con inseguridad, desconfianza, baja autoestima, ser capaz de poner fin a una relación que llegó a hartarla.

Se la muestra decidida, sin mirar atrás, yendo a por lo que la vida le tiene preparado, sin saber muy bien qué es. Se la ve empoderada, capaz de enamorarse de quien desee y capaz de tener la suficiente humildad para seguir aprendiendo de su madre, aun cuando esta ya ha fallecido.

Me encantó este personaje, creo que puede inspirar a muchas mujeres y por qué no también a hombres que hoy se sientan estancados en su vida.
