Cinetv contest #128...Home Alone 2: Lost in New York City.

I haven't been to New York, well at least not yet. Maybe sometime in the future. I love the fact that New York City is called The city that never sleeps. There's just something intriguing about it.

While I have watched a lot of movies that were based on New York City, I feel comfortable sharing this movie with you all as I believe it is a family friendly movie. Moreover @merit-ahama beat me to my all time favourite movie…..Coming to America. So I will move to my second best favourite movie in New York City titled….Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

If you have seen the first installment titled Home Alone then I'm sure you will agree with me that this second installment is fun packed and filled with humour. I'm all in for the humour I can get from a movie anytime, anyday 😁.

Synopsis

The movie begins with the McAllister family preparing to spend their Christmas holiday in Miami, Florida but this news doesn't sit well with their youngest son whose name is Kevin McAllister (played by Macaulay Culkin).

That night, Kevin also prepares for a school Christmas pageant and while he with other kids were singing their carols happily, Buzz who happens to be Kevin's older brother, plays a humiliating prank on Kevin. Kevin retaliates by shoving Buzz which in turn leads to a rollercoaster of mishaps.

Kevin's mom urges Kevin to apologise to the family but Kevin refuses because he felt hurt and he only did what needed to be done at the time. He even went as far to wish that his family would spend the holiday without him and he would love it.

The next day, the McAllister's woke up late and began a full 360 degree rush to the airport. While at the airport, Kevin requested for his recorder batteries and while he tried to replace the old with the new batteries, he lost sight of his family. His family boarded a plane to Florida while he boarded a wrong plane heading to New York.

When Kevin thought of how he would spend Christmas without restrictions, he liked the idea and began to do his ”big boy”thing. Only thing was that Kevin was just ten years old.

His family only realized that Kevin was missing at the security check in Florida. Series of complaints were made but finally the whole family had to cancel their Florida holiday and move to New York City in search of Kevin.

Kevin on the other hand was having a great time at the Plaza hotel until Christmas Eve when he decided to visit a toy shop. He encountered the same villians in the first installment named Marv and Harry. You'd think that these guys learnt their lesson after how Kevin dealt with them in the first movie but no, they fell prey again to his array of tricks and inventions. Which helped the police catch them this time for good.

How he was found by his mom and the surprise gifts he received is for you to find out 😜.

Review

I like how the movie chose Christmas time to show us snippets of New York City's most beautiful places and landmarks. I recall seeing the statue of Liberty, Brooklyn bridge, Times square, and the Rockefeller Center.

Another admirable thing about this movie is how viewers get to see why NYC is called the city that never sleeps. At night, with an array of night lights, NYC looks dazzling like a million fireflies put together.

I also marvelled at how developed the city was as in 1992 when this movie was released. Tall skyscrapers could be seen with lots of cars and yellow coloured taxis, depicting the busy nature of New York City.

If you love intelligent movies mixed with a dash of humour and comedy, then this movie is definitely for you. Even today, there's still something to laugh about while watching this movie.

I rate it a 9/10 because It was and still is a super cool movie.

Thanks for reading. This is my entry to the #cinetvcontest #128.
