SUPER OCHO 1973 -- Amazing Unseen Surf Film!

We are back to share an amazing unseen surf film from the 70s that we premiered at the shop a few months ago.
Shot on a Super 8 camera by our father's good friend Jose Ramon Moreno, the footage follows a group of Venezuelan surfers as they adventure through the tropics of South and Central America in search of the best waves. The movie is shot in many locations around Venezuela, Costa Rica, and Tobago.
The film is an incredible blend of lifestyle and surf. Scenes of tropical wildlife and stunning natural landscapes mix with clips of smooth surfing and empty lineups. It features our father and many friends as they surf, swim, and chill out in heavenly settings. And prior to the pandemic, none of this footage had been seen!
During the pandemic, Ramon dug out the old tapes from his Super 8 camera and went to get them digitized. He showed us the footage and we were so shocked and excited!
We quickly set up a premiere at our shop because we felt that everyone had to see this rare piece of surf history. We got some trailers and fliers up on our social medias and made it happen! The event was a great success and you can check out the event recap here.

Regresamos para compartir una película de surf increíble, nunca antes vista de los años 70 que estrenamos en la tienda hace unos meses.
Filmado con una cámara Super 8 por José Ramón Moreno, el buen amigo de nuestro padre, el metraje sigue a un grupo de surfistas venezolanos mientras se aventuran a través de los trópicos de América del Sur y Central en busca de las mejores olas. La película está filmada en muchos lugares en Venezuela, Costa Rica y Tobago.
La película es una mezcla increíble de estilo de vida y surf. Las escenas de la vida silvestre tropical y los impresionantes paisajes naturales se mezclan con clips de surf suave y olas vacías. Presenta a nuestro padre y muchos amigos mientras surfean, nadan y se relajan en entornos celestiales. ¡Y antes de la pandemia, no se había visto ninguna de estas imágenes!
Hace aproximadamente un año, Ramón desenterró las viejas cintas de su cámara Super 8 y fue a digitalizarlas. ¡Nos mostró las imágenes y estábamos tan conmocionados y emocionados!
Rápidamente organizamos un estreno en nuestra tienda porque sentimos que todos tenían que ver esta rara pieza de la historia del surf. ¡Subimos algunos tráileres y volantes en nuestras redes sociales y lo hicimos realidad! El evento fue un gran éxito y pueden ver el resumen del evento aquí.
