What is DC Doing? Pt .1

The question on most movie/comic book nerds is "What is DC Doing?" They announced that their cinematic universe is ending but they continue to release movies that fans suspect won't be a part of the new movies. Sometimes it is more than suspected. Let's look at Shazam Fury of the Gods for example. First and foremost the marketing was terrible.

I have only seen this trailer once. I knew this movie was coming out I just had no idea when. Secondly, the director begged fans to see the movie because if they did not Shazam would no longer be a part of their cinematic universe. This leads to my third and final point, the movie was barely connected to everything else, to begin with. The DCU isn't the only one to do this cough cough Marvel. (I am looking at you Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and almost all of phase four). "By do this" I mean through your brand name on something hoping fans will flock to go see the film in order to make it more appealing to the masses. Then once fans see it they realize it could have been skipped. The most notorious example of this is Captain Marvel. Fans were told that in order for Endgame to make sense you had to see Captain Marvel. This worked because Everyone knew that the MCU wasn't rebooting. The MCU also had a lot of goodwill. The DCU did not and still does not have this goodwill.
