ON THE LINE - (RESUMEN Y RESEÑA) - [ESP-ENG]

Saludos a todos los amantes de las buenas pelis y series en esta comunidad... les traigo la reseña de esta peli que me encontre en Netflix... con Mel Gibson, el GRAN Mel Gibson, realmente (más que el titulo) me llamó la atención que este gran actor fuera el protagonista.

On the line, o " Secuestro en Directo" como se conoce en español, es una peli del genero intriga y con una duración aproximada de 1 hora y 44 minutos, dirigida por Romuald Boulanger.

Nuestra historia comienza cuando Elvis (Mel Gibson) va a su trabajo en la estación de radio, en la que tiene más de 25 años trabajando, dejando claro su inccomparable estilo al momento de entrevistar, lo que tiene un poco enojada sus jefes. Se presenta ante la estación un chico que se hace llamar "el mesias" armado con lo que pareciera ser una navaja, le exige a Elvis subir y anunciar en vivo que él ha llegado, a lo que este hábilmente logra darle una rápida solución.

! [TEXT IN ENGLISH] Greetings to all lovers of good movies and series in this community... I bring you the review of this movie that I found on Netflix... with Mel Gibson, the GREAT Mel Gibson, really (more than the title) caught my attention that this great actor was the protagonist.
On the line, or " Secuestro en Directo" as it is known in Spanish, is a movie of the thriller genre and with an approximate duration of 1 hour and 44 minutes, directed by Romuald Boulanger.
Our story begins when Elvis (Mel Gibson) goes to his job at the radio station, where he has been working for more than 25 years, making clear his incomparable style when interviewing, which has his bosses a little angry. A guy who calls himself "the messiah" shows up at the station armed with what seems to be a knife, demands Elvis to go up and announce live that he has arrived, to which he deftly manages to give him a quick solution.

Comienza el programa de radio, Elvis recibe una llamada muy extraña de alguien que se hace llamar "Gary", al principio Elvis lo toma como una broma, , sin embargo, la tensión y el suspenso comienzan a crecer en el estudio de grabación; Gary le dice a Elvis que se encuentra en su jardin y Elvis pronto descubre que su esposa Olivia y su hija Adria, han sido secuestradas por Gary y que todo lo hace para arruinar su vida, pues Elvis arruinó la suya al hacerle bromas pesadas y de mal gusto en contra de Lauren (novia de Gary).

Elvis no recuerda ninguna chica con ese nombre, hasta que Mary (telefonista en el estudio de radio) le hace saber que la chica habia trabajado con él hace un tiempo atras, como telefonista y que la conocian como "Lily".

[TEXT IN ENGLISH] The radio show begins, Elvis receives a very strange call from someone who calls himself "Gary", at first Elvis takes it as a joke, however, the tension and suspense begins to grow in the recording studio; Gary tells Elvis that he is in his garden and Elvis soon discovers that his wife Olivia and his daughter Adria, have been kidnapped by Gary and that he is doing everything to ruin his life, because Elvis ruined his by making bad jokes and bad taste against Lauren (Gary's girlfriend).
Elvis doesn't remember any girl by that name, until Mary (a switchboard operator at the radio studio) lets him know that the girl had worked with him some time ago as a switchboard operator and that she was known as "Lily".

Asi las cosas, Gary le dice a Elvis, que suba al techo del edificio y que lleve consigo un microfono inalambrico para que puedan continuar con el programa, porque todo esto ha sido con el show al aire. al llegar arriba, consigue un cenicero y una especio de escalones, que era el punto exacto donde Lauren subia a llorar cuando era victima de las bromas pesadas de Elvis; Tambien se nos revela que Gary habia trabajado trabajado en la estacion como seguridad y que su nombre real era Gary Arlow.

[TEXT IN ENGLISH] As it is, Gary tells Elvis to go up to the roof of the building and bring a wireless microphone with him so they can continue with the program, because this has all been with the show on the air. When he gets upstairs, he gets an ashtray and a set of steps, which was the exact spot where Lauren would go up to cry when she was the victim of Elvis' practical jokes; it is also revealed that Gary had worked at the station as security and that his real name was Gary Arlow.

Gary le pide a Elvis que suba en la pared y se suicide (tal como lo hizo Lauren hace un mes atrás) si quiere salvar a su esposa y a su hija, Elvis le dice que no es capaz de saltar razon por la cual Gary le ordena a Dylan (productor del show) que lo empuje, intentan engañar a Gary haciéndole creer que Elvis efectivamente saltó, pero a los pocos segundos aparece un dron con una cámara logrando ver a Elvis con vida, obviamente esto enfurece a Gary ; de pronto se escuchan dos disparos, la situación se vuelve cada vez mas tensa y desconcertante.

[TEXT IN ENGLISH] Gary asks Elvis to climb the wall and commit suicide (just like Lauren did a month ago) if he wants to save his wife and daughter, Elvis tells him that he is not able to jump, Gary orders Dylan (producer of the show) to push him, they try to trick Gary into believing that Elvis did jump, but a few seconds later a drone appears with a camera and Elvis is seen alive, obviously this infuriates Gary; Suddenly two gunshots are heard, the situation becomes more and more tense and disconcerting.

La policía contacta a Elvis dejándole saber que Olivia y Adria no están en casa; Elvis y Dylan se dirigen a la recepción del edificio para encontrarse con el cuerpo del guardia de seguridad tendido en el suelo y todas las salidas del edificio están bloqueadas con explosivos, y estos explotarán en 40 minutos. Gary invita a Elvis a jugar un juego macabro: si lo encuentra (antes de que se acabe el tiempo) éste dejará en libertad a su esposa y a su hija.

Elvis y Dylan van en busqueda de Gary, entran en una de las oficias y Dylan es atacado por Tony (interpretado por el actor español Enrique Arce, quien personifica a Arturo en la Casa de Papel, el insoportable Arturito jaja); de esta forma descubrimos que tony había estado robando computadoras de las oficinas, Elvis no tiene tiempo para lidiar con esa situacion ahora, así que lo envia al estudio diciendole que luego resolverían ese problema.

La busqueda continua y por una pista de Adria, los chicos llegan al deposito de vestuario, ahi Elvis deduce que Gary se enncuentra en la sala de Cámaras en el sotano y que sabe cómo llegar ssin ser vistos por las camaras de seguridad. Al llegar allli, consiguen el cuerpo de Justin, quien ha recibido un impacto de bala en la frente.

[TEXT IN ENGLISH] The police contact Elvis letting him know that Olivia and Adria are not at home; Elvis and Dylan head to the building's reception to find the security guard's body lying on the floor and all the building's exits are blocked with explosives, and these will explode in 40 minutes. Gary invites Elvis to play a macabre game: if he finds him (before time runs out) he will release his wife and daughter.
Elvis and Dylan go looking for Gary, they enter one of the offices and Dylan is attacked by Tony (played by the Spanish actor Enrique Arce, who plays Arturo in La Casa de Papel, the unbearable Arturito haha); in this way we discover that Tony had been stealing computers from the offices, Elvis does not have time to deal with that situation now, so he sends him to the studio telling him that they would solve that problem later.
The search continues and on a tip from Adria, the boys arrive at the wardrobe storage room, where Elvis deduces that Gary is in the camera room in the basement and that he knows how to get there without being seen by the security cameras. When they get there, they find Justin's body, who has been shot in the forehead.

Allí descubren que Gary esta en el estudio, pero los ascensores no funcionan, así que deben subir por las escaleras, restando tan solo 13 minutos para que el edificio estalle en mil pedazos. Dylan y Elvis se las ingenian para llegar al estudios sin ser vistos por Gary, armados con un cuchillo y la pistola del guardia de seguridad, sorprenden a Gary quien se mantiene calmado, de pronto suena el celular de Gary, era el negociador de SWAT llamado Bruce.

Este le indica a Elvis que encontraron a Adria y a Olivia en la azotea, con unos chalecos explosivos que solo pueden ser desactivados introduciendo unos códigos que solo Gary conoce, este accede a darle los codigos a Bruce con la condición de que Elvis lo libere y que Bruce lleve los chalecos al estudio, Elvis no tiene otra opción, lo libera y al poco tiempo llega Bruce con los chalecos. Gary le pide que se los coloque a Dylan, Elvis intenta persuadirlo que se los coloque a el, pero Gary se niega. El pobre Dylan esta traumatizado, muerto de miedo... Una vez tiene los chalecos puestos Gary deja caer un artefacto que controla los explosivos y de pronto todos estallan en risas, todo era una broma preparada por elvis y su equipo para darle la bienvenida a Dylan.

Mientras todos se ríen, Dylan luce sumamente traumatizado, no puede creerlo, básicamente está en shock, en medio de la conmoción Dylan se cae por las escaleras, golpeandose fuertemente la cabeza, perdiendo la vida. Todo es culpa de Elvis, quien ahora luce bastante afectado por lo ocurrido.

[TEXT IN ENGLISH] There they discover that Gary is in the studio, but the elevators do not work, so they must go up the stairs, with only 13 minutes left until the building explodes into a thousand pieces. Dylan and Elvis manage to get to the studio without being seen by Gary, armed with a knife and the security guard's gun, they surprise Gary who remains calm, suddenly Gary's cell phone rings, it was the SWAT negotiator named Bruce.
He tells Elvis that they found Adria and Olivia on the roof, with explosive vests that can only be deactivated by entering some codes that only Gary knows, he agrees to give the codes to Bruce on the condition that Elvis releases him and that Bruce takes the vests to the studio, Elvis has no choice, he releases him and soon after Bruce arrives with the vests. Gary asks him to put them on Dylan, Elvis tries to persuade him to put them on him, but Gary refuses. Poor Dylan is traumatized, scared to death.... Once he has the vests on Gary drops a device that controls the explosives and suddenly everyone bursts out laughing, it was all a prank set up by Elvis and his team to welcome Dylan.
While everyone is laughing, Dylan looks extremely traumatized, he can't believe it, he's basically in shock, in the middle of the commotion Dylan falls down the stairs, hitting his head hard, losing his life. It's all Elvis' fault, who now looks pretty shaken up by what happened.

La policía concurre al lugar para levantar el cuerpo del pobre Dylan, Elvis (aun sin poder creer lo que sucedió) sale por la parte trasera del edificio, donde se le presenta Sam (su jefa) abordo de su camioneta... Elvis se lleva el regaño de su vida! obviamente por las bromas pesadas que ha estado haciendo, pero esta fue demasiado lejos. Sam le dice que lo llevará a su casa pues el carro de Elvis está rodeado de periodistas. Comienza a sonar en la radio la noticia de lo sucedido y se nos revela que todo era una broma a Elvis... SI, OTRA BROMA! El chofer de Sam era el mismísimo Dylan que realmente se llama Max, todo era una broma a Elvis por su cumpleaños... La película termina con Elvis asumiendo que lo atraparon y que se vengará.

Honestamente, ese final no lo vi venir y para nada me gustó, teniendo en cuenta que esta película pertenece al genero "suspenso" y si, nos mantienen en suspenso desde el minuto 1, Mel me parece un actor espectacular con grandes talentos para la actuación y este papel no le dio la oportunidad de explotarlos. Le califico con 6/10. Es medianamente buena, aunque mi esposo (quien la estaba viendo conmigo) se quedó dormido 2 veces jaja!

[TEXT IN ENGLISH] The police arrive on the scene to pick up poor Dylan's body, Elvis (still unable to believe what happened) goes out the back of the building, where he is met by Sam (his boss) in her truck.... Elvis gets the scolding of his life! Obviously for the practical jokes he's been playing, but this one went too far. Sam tells him he'll take him home as Elvis' car is surrounded by reporters. The news of what happened starts playing on the radio and it is revealed that it was all a prank on Elvis..... YES, ANOTHER PRANK! Sam's driver was Dylan himself who is really named Max, it was all a prank on Elvis for his birthday.... The movie ends with Elvis assuming he got caught and will get revenge.
Honestly, I didn't see that ending coming and I didn't like it at all, considering that this movie belongs to the "suspense" genre and yes, we are kept in suspense from minute 1, Mel seems to me a spectacular actor with great acting talents and this role didn't give him the opportunity to exploit them. I rate it 6/10. It's moderately good, although my husband (who was watching it with me) fell asleep 2 times haha!
